Blackburn Burnley game...

Does anyone know which are the Rovers pubs?

Sorry this is in the wrong section, thought you would have more of an idea...

Moved to footy section :D

Blackburn fans supping point by police is the Calder, & poss boars head :D

Nickelson 27-03-2010 12:25

Re: Blackburn Burnley game...

Yeah Calder is designated waterhole for Blackburn. No doubt Boars Head will be a rovers pub too, as StanleyMad said.

Just dont wear colours ;)

Re: Blackburn Burnley game...

I'd stick to a pub thats a bit off the beaten track tomorrow, maybe the Crown or Oaklea. Avoid the town centre !!!

from the bbc website ..

mark lawrensons predictions ..

SUNDAY
Burnley v Blackburn (1200 BST)
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/image..._blackburn.gif

If people did not already know it before, everyone is now aware that these two seriously do not like each other.
Blackburn are safe from the drop because of their home form. Burnley used to have similar joy at home, but they don't look like winning football matches any more.
They are so hard to predict, these games. If I was going to have a bet it would be on someone getting sent off rather than the score! But I'm sure Blackburn would love to play a part in Burnley going down and they might just do that.
Prediction: 1-2

Wish they'd had "designated" pubs back in the day. This may have stopped me walking into a fullscale battle in the Pickwick after a Boxing Day derby in '76 and getting lamped in the face by a well-known Accy Blue who, for some unfathomable reason, mistook me for a dingle!

Hope you waved at the police helicopter as you got on the coach. What a complete waste of taxpayers money. What the hell do they think was going to happen when people are being dragged out of bed at stupid o'clock and herded about like cattle ?

Stayin down 4 ever luv Rovers:D
Funny thing is I think it could be a draw today cashy, but at 25 points for the Dingles, could be their last point of the season, can't see them getting anything from City, Liverpool or Spurs at the Turf, all going for Europe and Birmingham, Hull and Sunderland away ain't any cake walk especially when you only have 1 point from 16 away games so far
The futures not bright its certainly not Orange:D

Ah well that's that for another 10 years or more, 31 years and counting, just a bit disappointed they dis-aloud that goal and the one that hit the bar was well over the line, but a 1-0 away wins fine by me, 41 points top half of the table and the Dingles reclaiming their rightful place in the football league, after all thats what Kilby and Flood have been planning since last May. Goodbye Burnley Goodbye we'll see you again but we don't know when, Good Bye Burnley Goodbye:D:D:D:D:theband::theband::theband:

Away from home we only do enough to make sure we win which we always do when playing the Dingles, but lets face it 1 shot on target ain't going to win many games when your in deep dodo, and Burnley are in deep dodo big time, Jas never broke into a sweat really was just a bit edgy when he was at the Burnley end and all the locals were waving six fingers at him:D

Of course they are, Jaysay, of course they are.

Incidentally, I was browsing through a book on football hooliganism in a bookshop a few months ago. One incident they mentioned was an oubreak of disorder at Millwall when they were playing Rovers in 1967. Nine Rovers fans ended up in court afterwards - eight were from the Accrington area. ;)

I'll have a read of the Millwall section next time I go in the shop and see what they say. Let's face it, every higher league club have a minority of nutters and, to be honest, I don't think the guy who thumped me was a hardcore hooligan, just someone who got a bit carried away with the occasion!

Had to smile when I heard the Law Man's comments, 'the Ref has left us with a mountain to climb':D What about the perfect good goal chalked of and the ball that was clearly over the line after hitting the bar. The fact that the Dingles have a mountain to climb is that they didn't beat Portsmouth or Wolves at home or Wigan away, or maybe, just maybe the fact they have only won one game since he took over as manager, if you are on a run like that, most managers would twig that they have problems, without showing their own shortcomings by blaming the ref:rolleyes:

Absolutely disgraceful policing - allowing & encouraging breaking of rules!!!

You are not allowed alchohol on any part of the terraces in ANY ground only in designated areas away from pitchside!!

Smoking is certainly not allowed in any covered public place!!

Thought to concourse areas for refreshment breaks are usually packed on a good match, home ends were full & CERTAINLY was not allowed to bring alchohol nor smoke, so why away end different ??!?!?

Disgrace!! Enough evidence for investigation as being the case. Now i know why u were all vocal about a having a party - literally regardless of result!

Well they are hardly going to ferry Stanley fans in to any ground 3 hours prior to kick off, and seeing they had no choice to be in the ground or miss the match some sort of common sense prevailed, for once. Never had all this nonsense 40 years ago and there was just as many numpties in those days as there are now, me and cashy used to go for a start:D

The reason why rovers fans were allowed on the terracing with thier drinks was purely down to safety, i was in the third convoy of coaches and when we got to the ground it was packed already by the time the last convoy turned up no more fans could get through the turnstiles so the police decided to shut the bars and get fans that were already in, up onto the terraces drinks or no drinks so as to avert another hillsbrough it was really that bad.

So every Rovers fan was drinking ? why not just move the ones who weren't drinking ? The away end has been full for most games at the Turf this season. You didn't all arrive together just like any other club hasn't done. What about half time at most grounds, the concourses are packed. No dispensation is made then.

Most of the trouble inside the ground stemmed from bottle throwing. If the police commander cocked up he should be demoted to PCSO, if the instruction came from the Ground Safety Officer then he should be sacked immediatley. The latter is more in hope than expectation

Point of the matter is u are not allowed by law to drink and smoke in the terraces, police and safety officers broke the rules to make excuse for their badly organised mess up, simples.

Your right stanleymad possibly the authorities thought that a majority of fans would have made thier way to thier seats and had thier picnics providing more room downstairs. How was a safety certificate issued in the first place when that end concourse cannot hold 2,400 people

I doubt any concourse can hold the capacity of the stand it serves at any football ground. Under the Longside the concourse's are like sardine tins at half time. I'm sure the same situation applies at Ewood. I went to Norwich a couple of seasons ago and you had to take it turns to breathe in so the oxygen didn't run out :)

Lol brfc think for both set of fans the police and H & S officers let fans down, nowt worse and probably aggravated situation more by all this massive force arm of law obviously when suits.

Even the reserve game ended 4-0. I'd like to say Thursday might be better but as it's due to rain before then it will no doubt be off :D

Maybe, just maybe if the fans from both sides were treated like human beings instead of being herded like animals, it would make a difference. Okay there are richard heads on both sides, but most fans are law abiding people who are penalised to placate a few. The trouble is the police know who the prats are why not make sure they are nowhere near either Ewood or the Turf on these occasions, then the genuine supporters can slag one another of in peace:D

yes dave i do agree with the police action against them empty headed simpletons, as you can clearly see the rest of the stadium is EMPTY (rovers fans aside) so why are they still in the ground, if they wont leave and are trying to get over the banner that was separating us what else are the police supposed to do ?...fight fire with fire, im not a great fan of the police but on this occasion they were right, and if t' shoe wer on t'other foot id say the same !!!!....they were in that part of the stadium at that time for one reason only, so they got what they deserved imho :D...WHERE'S YOUR FAMOUS SUICIDE

There's force and there's excessive force. They are actually nowhere near the banner and as it was 10 seats wide no chance of getting over it. Of course while the police were busy 150 seats were being ripped out, not one copper spotted that. Perhaps they were hidden under all the beer that was smuggeld in to the stand without the police and stewards knowing ;)

Bad customer service, they show us to our seats with a torch and then come round at half-time selling popcorn and ice-cream :D

That copper is lying, blatantly. Me and three of my mates were stood outside - just as you come in the concourse - and a policeman came up to us and he said can you go to your seats please? My mate said I will after my fag and these beers. To which the copper replied that we can take them with us.

When my GF gets home I'll put a video up off my phone which shows how packed the concourses were. An accident waiting to happen. Yes, the police bent the rules. But what would people rather have? People drinking and smoking in their seats; or a serious injury, or, at worse, a fatality?

Makes you wonder who was in charge last week. If the Burnley fans didn't move they got batoned, the Rovers fans can do as they please.

At least they now have 2 more years before the next game in the Championship to sort it out ;)

The police had to allow us into our seats. It was the correct decision on the day. We were told we had to go our seats. If they'd made loads of people dispose of their beer; it could have got nasty. Which, of course, I wouldn't condone.

We won't be getting relegated any time soon thought. Maybe you'll have upgraded that poor excuse for a stand by next time we play. Although, they'll never allow us to share again!

ps will you make me some t-shirts that say 'We're having a party...' on the front, and 'When Burnley go down on the back'? LOL

No problem. The first order on Monday morning was for a hoodie with Dunn 1 Dingles 0 on the back. I don't have a problem taking your money, rather feed the kids than get depressed over some game of football :D
