Sun News paper Lampoons New England Manager.

The F.A. have lodged a complaint against the Sun Newspaper for mocking new England Manager - Roy Hodgson over the way he talks.

Quote:

The Football Association has condemned as "unacceptable" a newspaper headline poking fun at Roy Hodgson's manner of speech.

"Bwing on the Euwos!", the Sun's front-page headline on the appointment of England's new manager, has led to numerous complaints to the FA and the Press Complaints Commission, an FA statement said.

The FA chairman, David Bernstein, said he had been delighted with the media coverage generally but that the headline was "disrespectful".

I find it disgraceful that the guy hasn't even started yet and they are mocking him already. Surely this will undermine the countries chances if these clowns at the Sun carry on undermining the new England football manager.

Note: should anyone think this should be in the sports forum. The subject is not sport but the attitude of the gutter press to someone's speech mannerisms.

Firstly using the word "News" in conjunction with The Sun is a misnomer & while not exactly the best of headlines, Remember the "Turnip" ? What has Roy Hodgson said about the subject ?

The story, referencing Mr Hodgson's pronunciation of the letter R, has led to more than 100 complaints to the Press Complaints Commission.

Led by the FA.

The reason I've highlighted this is to reaffirm the points I made in the thread below:-

The England manager is an ambassador for the Country, could they not find someone who can speak properly?

As for the paper being wrong for its comments, it will happen all the time as it does with Wossy and others. Bring back Spitting Image and dump all this PC nonsense :D

I thought a big saying up north was "If you'be got nothing good to say, say nothing at all!" lol :D

Also if he's supposed to be an ambassador for UK then why have they had 2 foreigners previously?

So you don't consider that a chap with a speech impediment is a fit person to represent the country?
Perhaps you have forgotten King George VI - there has even been a recent film centred around his speech impediment.

its the british way, within 30 mins of his appointment I had jokes appearing on my Facebook feed taking the pee.. we've always done it, I'm with the camp that says chuck away the pC nonsense...

As a kid I was taunted mercilessly because my mum couldn't afford to by me named jumpers etc, I even had a home knitted one for a while. it didn;t bother me and if anything taught me a valuable lesson in life, dont worry too much about not being in the clique, its rarely a place thats nice to be.

If you didn't have a named jumper I doubt that you would be considered for a clique, so how do you know?;)
