OH MY GOD!!!

The part in this film ( officer and a gentlemen ) where she goes to walk out of the door crying, but he stops her and whispers " shhhhhh " in her ear, while kissing her neck :o

The song gives me a lump in the throat too

Acknowledged as the most beautiful contalto voice ever recorded, and a Lancashire lass to boot.

First to get my tear ducts opening is Kathlenn Ferrier's Blow the Wind Southerly, followed by He was Despised.

Bowie's Heroes.

YouTube - David Bowie - heroes - original video 1977

It reminds me of being seventeen, and of breaking up with my twenty year old girlfriend in the Hacienda.

I was wearing a raincoat, covered in photographs of myself, and painted with poetry, and she was wearing a full length fur dress.

God, I could weep, not at the musical memory, but at what we were wearing.:D

Really good thread. Music is amazing at touching our sadnesses, as well as the joy we've lived through.

Have enjoyed listening to other people's choices, and reading the snippets of biography.:)

Well thank you, to all that have added to this thread tonight, there has been quite a diversity, I've enjoyed all the input so far, (message to self, buy two packs of those hankies in case of further comment).

Isn't it wonderful though that not only can we have the memories but also the ease with which we can share them with others, thank you modern technology, the web, and certainly as seems to have been proved Utube!

Oh, yes before I go thanks accyweb, without you my friends would be fewer and I would have less people to argue with!

:alright:

Cashy , that has got to remind lots of folks of day trips to Blackpool in the early 50s, with their grandmas and concerts on one of the piers, if a 6 or 7 seven year old can be embarassed by his Grandma it was during this song when all the old ladies took out their lace trimed hankies and waved goodbye to Joseph Locke during this song (I think he must have been the P J Proby for a certain generation),
