One of The last surviving members of the Funk Brothers, Bob Babbitt has past away.

RIP Bob Babbit. I watched Standing In The Shadows Of Motown DVD last week for the umpteenth time. The Funk Brothers were involved with more hits than The Beatles, Elvis and The Beach Boys combined. Most people have probably never heard of them. I'm not sure Alan, but was Bob the only white member of The Funk Bros? |

I think Joe Messina might have been in the original band.

A really good book that covers in depth the full history of Motown and a complete discography (all Motown related labels)
Motown The History by Sharon Davis. Guinness Publications ISBN 0-85112-894-7 It's out of print now, but not impossible to get hold of. I've had my copy about fifteen years now. I think I paid around £25 when I bought it. It's full of information, facts and brilliant photos. A good reference book for Motown fans. |
