It's the same reason people go on Holiday! Instead they take a drug - changes the scenery for a while! If it was legal people who wanted to try a drug would first check if they are allergic to it.

If you got kids over 16 and they wanted to try drugs the problem is they will do it anyway - why let them go off and do it behind your back and possibly take something worse - why not let them do it under your guidance? I don't see the problem!

If i had a kid i would talk about drugs and educate them about it. Parents who just say "these are drugs if I catch you taking them I'll slap you!" are inviting trouble. That will just drive the kid off, to possibly take drugs behind your back. I would educate my kid about the issues!
