I've attended the meetings, you know I have.... I sat through nearly half an hour of "shall we have £10 or £20 for Xmas decorations!". Sorry, its not my scene. I admire all the members & the poker nights are superb, we just need more of that. We also need less of the OSC talking for the majority when clearly, if you look how many voted, you are not! We all red & I admit we all support differently. But don't get on your high horse, it doesn't suit you! :not_ripe: LOVEJOY! |

I know who I voted for last year and one of them won and 1 didn’t, and about 3 or 4 of them come up to me saying "vote for me", what vote does this not happen in??? its hardly cheating . I am not a member of the supporters club simply because I have never been asked, its not that I don’t support what the OSC are doing its how they are doing it and that’s why I will happily spend my fiver (and lots more) over the bar and encourage none Stanley fans to attend games at every opportunity because in my opinion that’s the best way to raise money for the club, you might not be able to put your name to it but concentrating efforts to drive up attendances will make a lot more money for the club in the long run (again in my opinion). :) That said, id still like to say cheers to everyone who put the effort in for the supporters club doo because I did attend and have a good time. |
Re: Praise from Kidderminster - Official
A revolution cannot take place over night here it needs time effort and people willing to put in that time and effort that don't already, both jase and kipax have attended meetings in the past but attending 1 meeting in maybe the past 12 months is not enough, if you want the supporters club to change from the perceived veiw of the 'old mans gassing shop' then come and give us a hand coz you ain't alone.
I hate the perception that people have about the supporters club but it isn't gonna change if nobody's willing to come and help change it. And yes I'll freely admit that meetings can be sometimes tedious but thats what we want to change and 3 people, two of whom have breasts, which seems to be a serious impediment, are not going to make a big enough difference. On average as far as fundraising events go it all gets handed down to around three people to do all the work, sure plenty of folk volunteer to help but very few actually get involved. But what gets on my tits more than anything else is people who don't take an active part, running the name of the supporters club into the ground. If these people were active members then they would be entitled to have their greiveances, their say and ultimately a chance to suggest a way forward. It's not the supporters club versus the ultras, never has been, they are two separate groups formed for two different reasons but both to help the club in their own ways. Oh and boggles, its not up to a supporters club member to ambush you into joining the supporters club, the secratary of the supporters club is in the sports bar taking membership before, during half time and after most games, dont tell me you dont go into the bar!!! Oh and when the roof over the claton end does go up just remember that the supporters club has helped to pay for the facilities afforded to supporters, like loos etc. |
Re: Praise from Kidderminster - Official
oh and kipax could you enlighten me as to the other agendas, cos i am unsure what you are talking about. What presure has been placed on the club?

I'll never mention it again, if the OSC never "claim" to speak for all of the Accy Stanley fans......... In terms of volunteering my time, which is precious, I'll devote it to things that interest me. I play football for Accy Stanley fans team, I organise terrace displays, recruit away travellers, give leaflets out in town, organise banners showing stanley are at home, I've done playstation nights, run the coach with Cammy, bought 3 season tickets, spend hundreds in the bar, on programmes, bought a reserved car park ticket, this year bought at least 3 shirts, 2 scarves etc etc. I do enough, me thinks! But if it needs attendance at a meeting & £5 a year subs to be a real fan, count me in...... |
Re: Praise from Kidderminster - Official
Jase it's not your fault, but you still don't get it, i'm not ridiculing what you do, I'm saying don't ridicule what we do if you know very little about it. We don't profess to speak for the fans, unlike you who seems to think its your natural cause. I don't remember ever speaking for all the fans, thats a lot of people to speak for and quite frankly I have enough to say on my own!!!
Its not about who does what, But if you want to get personal, about what you do and what i do here goes:- I steward on match days for around 4 and a half hours for nothing. I baby sit the children of people who couldn't care less about where their kids are or what they are doing on match days for nothing but a load of abuse!! I give up around 20 hours a month to stewarding other football games at the interlink for nothing Before becoming a steward I had a season ticket 18 years worth of admission fees proir to holding a season ticket I give up around 12 hours a month to the supporters club I give up around 8 hrs a month to part organise the poker night with my husband I have given leaflets out in town I have spent a lot of money in the club shop I help out behind the bar I put money over the bar the same as you do I help clean the stadium during the summer I could go on. A fiver a year doesn't make you a real fan, going to blyth spartans on a tuesday night in the piddling down rain does!!! Wearing your shirt with pride even when people take the mick out of it does!!! Watching your team lose and not stopping singing until you have no voice left that makes you a real fan. And that puts both of us in the same catagory. not ultras, not supporters club, REAL FANS. I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree. |

Re: Praise from Kidderminster - Official
Agree with Sparks Mr Miller. We all pull for the same cause. We all have differing views on how it should be done. We all have skills that can be put to use for the greater good. We all have the right to organise ourselves in the manner that we see fit as being best for our kind. If there is a better way of doing things then lets do it. But lets not forget the efforts of the OSC and where we can we should encourage them and help them. Likewise, they can offer us help as and when and if we ask for it.
If the revolution does not come to us maybe we should run a coach to it. Cammy? |

Now I know what it takes to be a REAL fan.
