Yes it is. I was surprised at this with Rovers saying that 2,000 plus of their fans will be going.

I went to the ticket office at Ewood Park yesterday and said ' yes its 10 quid pay on the gate - but get there early!

I don't understand why so many tickets have been allocated to Rovers; Blackburn rarely bring over 200 to these friendlies!

If there is over 2000 that pay on then great...just hope it's not all gob.

Hope they will but the last pre-season friendly we had against you 3 or 4 seasons ago there weren't that many Blackburn fans there

That's because they weren't doing so well at the time ;)

Seriously, then it was a weak team, the likes of Grabbi etc as Cackburn had gone on a pre-season tour. This year, they have promised to bring the strongest team possible. Coupled with the fact it's their only away friendly on English soil, I reckon we'll see quite a few of their silent fans at the FES.

Admittedly there were only 3 or 4 of your first team in the last friendly we played but you can bring the whole lot this time - if you dare. Can't wait to see what you're over paid prima donnas make of our pitch and our lads who, unlike the type of player your lot usually play week in week out, don't fall over at the merest hint of contact:p

Can't wait to see Savage cropped, the bloody girl. Does he still think that Brum is further from Wrexham than Blackburn is, or has somebody drawn him an 'ickle picture with crayons? Craney will show Robbie Savage exactly how to play the game, the way it should be played ie. not falling over at the slightest touch and feigning injury.

Downside of it is, we have to let the Scum from Blackburn into our beautiful ground, it will be tainted forever :(

i am a stanley fan living in blackburn, most of my mates are rovers season ticket holders and i myself WAS a rovers season ticket holder but i have decided to get on to a few more stanley games. i will still go to the rovers though aswel. but what i am here to say is , i ve heard a lot of rovers fans , alot of my mates, saying rovers are going to thrash stanley 6-0,5-0,4-0. but non of them have actually seen stanley play. i think in reallity rovers will win but not by many maybe 2 or three at the most. my point is that dont underestimate anyone.
my prediction 3-1/3-2 rovers.

Probably difficult to park round the ground, the car park has been reduced in size due to new turnstiles etc. On street parking available, just better take pot luck, park where you can and walk the rest of the way.

When travelling to Stanley's away matches this season if I have to ask someone for the best places to park, I hope that I do not receive replies like the above. It's nice to be nice. If on a match day somebody stopped their car and asked you for a place to park near FES would you reply in the same manner ? I don't think so. Just because somebody hasn't been to the FES before it doesn't make it right to be awkward towards them. There will be plenty of grounds we visit next season that we will not have been to before and may have to ask where the best place to park is.

Re: blackburn game

After the debacle last Saturday - it SHOULD be segregated as a matter of course. This will mean the stewards can get it right and have no worries. But before the match the clubhouse should be closed approximately 30 minutes prior to kick off and fans should be ushered out the side exit onto the car park then it could be re-opened after the match for the usual banter. Kipax, why do you think the gate will be down, when supposedly 2,000 are coming from Blackburn, I think we will easily get 4,000 on on Wednesday night - no problem. Tis is the early test for the system.

Re: blackburn game

As far as I know all the tickets for this game are the same, they don't specify which area of the ground they are for. Therefore, I don't think it will be segregated as in Rovers fans in one area and Stanley fans in another, it will just mean that whichever area of the ground you choose to go into that's where you will stay for the whole of the game.

AccyMad 12-07-2006 11:01

Don't worry about the atmosphere - just leave it to the Accy fans to create that, you Rovers fans can just watch and learn :)

JEFF 12-07-2006 12:12

Re: blackburn game

The official site states that the ground will be segregated into three areas - Area 1 - The Clayton End and half the Whinney Hill Terrace
Area 2 - The Coppice End and half the Whinney Hill Terrace
Area 3 - The Seated Enclosure
Your ticket allows you to enter through the turnstiles any of these three areas but you will not be allowed to move to another area. Let's hope that everybody who has bought a ticket doesn't decide to go into the seated enclosure.

We now have a new turnstile monitoring system in place if the seating is full we'll just close the turnstile simple as.

As a Steward I would recommend that standing Blackburn fans go into the coppice terrace area and standing stanley fans go into the clayton terrace, the same facilities are available in both ( Bogs, Burger vans etc.) obviously for the friendlies the entire ground is mixed but this way will give you a bit more of an atmosphere for the banter etc.

Please be aware there will be no movement between enclosures allowed, so those who want a beer will have to sit down, or stand behind the goals and content with a cuppa!!! Last year we rightly recieved a lot of complaints from people who were sat down as they were paying their money like anyone else but only getting to see half of the match because of the constant traffic to and from the bar. This current arrangement solves this problem to a certain extent and more importantly complies to football league rules!!!

big al 16-07-2006 15:47

Re: blackburn game

The step up to league status now means that the ground is licenced only for segregation & no free movement will be allowed. This is a ruling under health & safety by Lancashire County Council who can close the ground down if this is not adhered to. There were early teething issues at the Burnley game but these have been addressed & Wednesday will be the start of how things will be done in future. As with league games when they commence, away fans will be ushered to one end- likely away fans the town end & part of the Whinney Hill stand with home fans at the Clayton end & main stand. Please do not berate us stewards for this as we are acting in accordance with the rules. Just get there as soon as possible & ensure you get into the part of the ground that meets your needs. There is only the one bar in the club house & it is a criminal offence to take alcohol onto the ground or be in an inebriated state on it. I hope that common sense dictates a good spirit as in prior encounters and we all can enjoy a good game regardless of the outcome, Friendly is the main associated word! Enjoy.

Wynonie Harris 16-07-2006 17:02

Re: blackburn game

This sounds fine, Al. It's good to hear that the club is taking a professional, no-nonsense approach to league status. However, can I just ask one question - how long will us Clayton Enders have to endure "dry" half-times for, before the bar is finally installed?

sparkie 16-07-2006 17:30

Re: blackburn game

I don't think thats a question for us stewards and fans I think thats a question for the club

Space has been left behind each stand for the inclusion of a 'bar' portacabin, however I suspect its somewhat down to the logistics of having people to man it.

Yep you're right, Sparkie. Any news for us dedicated drinkers, Rob?

Space has been left behind each stand for the inclusion of a 'bar' portacabin, however I suspect its somewhat down to the logistics of having people to man it.

Well, I'm working the turnstiles, and have experience with pulling pints, so wouldn't be a problem for me to offer some help behind the bar.

yeah but you can't do both at the same time.

I rather think that it will be cans and plastic glasses in the bars behind the terraces.

Rome wasn't built in a day but rest assured that drink = profit that will help the club develop- so can only be a matter of time. As Sparkie said that answer really lies with the powers that be at the club-over to you Rob.

 Portacabin! Bloody hell. I hope we’re getting a beer garden to go with it, have you seen the size of some of these guys at the Clayton End. I’m a short arse; I’ll need to stand on a box to see the bloody bar.
<O:p
Moving on. How are we doing with collecting memorabilia for our Portacabin? Sorry, Bar? :)

Exactly.. bars = profit and they will arrive well before any roof that doesnt = profit.... not hard to work out :)

Plastic glasses will be the order of the day as Glass is not allow on a football ground, also I would think you would only be allowed to drink in the bar itself as alcohol is not allowed on the terraces is any form.

I managed to collect quite a little stash last season from terrace drinkers, cans, bottles and even half a bottle of teachers whisky from a kind hearted away fan. We always tell people they can pick them up at the end of the game but they never do.

on with the bars now, unfortunately everything else took priority as it had to be in place before the burnley game, however as it has been pointed out, beer sales are an important part of matchday income and something that we will be making sure is sorted out as soon as possible!

Have alook at the Rovers forum - the're s******g themselves over the possibility of their pampered pansies getting injured!
How condescending can you get? They can't conceive of the possibility that we have skilful players who also might get injured!
