Willie makes a good point re the local councils involvement,or rather seemingly 'lack of'. Would've thought they would be 'milking it' for all it was worth because its Stanley(through historic events ) that have given Accrington a level of exposure to the world.

But don't put the blame on every single accy fan just because they didn't help for whatever reason. Thats all I am saying... Some people (well most I guess) just arn't doers.. You shouldn't attack them for that..

Right I'm back now to defend myself. The disappointment mainly is that people didn't want to help out - for whatever reason. The idea was simple, inexpensive and a way to show your support for Stanley publicly. The morning that red and white fortnight started I saw half a dozen shirts in town. Thats asking nothing of people who already own one to wear it in town. I'll still press on with any ideas that are to the benefit of the club that I support, but this time I wont expect anything from it.

I was agreeing its dissapointing but I was saying no one should be having a go at poeple who didn't help... only people who said they would then didnt.. thats my opinion..

Now you tell me how that is having a go at you and how you need to defend yourself?

Would have loved to have seen the town red & white & am still convinced that the Rob's idea is THE only thing anybody has done to commemorate Stanley back in the League after 44 years

There should have been marching bands, balloons, parades, functions etc etc

Its now left to Stanley Ultras to try a organise a parade for Tuesday when plannning by councils etc would have really marked the occasion. As it is it will pass with only the Media interested & the Town folk indifferent ....

Oh Well, we'll never have waited 44 years for league Football again:mad:

On a brighter note, bought my new home shirt very impressed & three went while I was in there. Then as an addition to red & white fortnight I displayed the On Stanley On flag on the side ofn the Arndale for 40 minutues in rush hour. HAd loads of horns beeping:D

Roll on tomorrow &a sing song in the riflemans!

:D :) he shouldnt be dissapointed now cause everybody knows about it now just keep spreading the word .....started off slow now its going like a rollercoaster:not_ripe: :not_ripe: :not_ripe: :Banane25: :Banane47: :Banane47: well done ....

Re: Disappointed.

Just a little from a retailer's point of view Macca;most multi nationals and high street stores have their window space paid for by suppliers;non compliance with their guidelines results in them withdrawing the funding and store managers losing their jobs. Also there are uniform guidelines;eg staff t-shirts so turning up for your shift in a Stanley shirt is also a no-no.Obviously small ,independent or charity shops can do what they wish but it would be nice if you had looked at the bigger pcture before branding Accrington's retailers as a bunch of complacent Stanley haters.

Re: Disappointed.

where in my posts do I brand anybody complacent Stanley haters?

I said that I was disappointed and they could have done better. Anybody could have put balloons up. Anybody could have put a good luck message up. Any store manager worth his salt would have the discretion to allow the use of non-uniform for a day, or at least be able to put it to head office. Accrington is also sorely lacking in high street stores and as for multi-nationals there are very few of them.

But I do take your point. And do you take mine? The shops were only a part of my 'disappointed'. I was disappointed by quite a few things. I wont be responding to any more debate on this with anybody other than by PM cos it needs putting to bed now, it was tried, it failed, I expressed my disappointment. The fact of the matter is that this thread has had more post on it than the Red and White Fortnight thread (if you take away all my posts).
That tells a story and I should have heeded it.
