Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
OK the CDs are in town. They arrived on Friday and there are some at the club now. The official release will go ahead as planned on the 21st OCt when Stanley play Walsall (but you could probably get copies from the shop anytime from now if you`re mad keen).
After the 21st the CD should also be available from the town hall as well for anyone who struggles to get into the club shop for any reason. We will not be doing a matchday gig but instead will be doing a full concert in the Sports bar on Thursday 26th October which will be a fundraiser for the club so get plenty of people down. We`ll be playing 2 full sets through our usual gear so I think that will work out more worthwhile than trying 2 songs through a completely alien device and never really ending up with it sounding like you wanted it to. Anyway there`s no Ifs or buts now the CDs are here so please buy heartily, they`re not extortionate at £3 it`s gonna raise some money for Stanley (how much depending on how many we sell, plus other live benefits we have arranged) and lets not forget the original objective of uniting the Stanley crowd in song, one voice in chorus, the ammunition of support. When this stuff catches on there`s loads of great sing along bits that can ring around the FES if everyone`s got a copy i think you`ll find it fun. It`ll definitely boost the continuity in the support. I myself imagine just how intimidating "HOO HAH HOO HAH Stanley`s back and on the attack !" sounds when chanted simultaneously by a few hundred people. :D:D:D:D  All three songs are written full of love and praise for Accrington Stanley without once finding need to deride opposition or proclaim superiority, and represent the standards of the sport of football from the times when Accrington last graced the league, those of Sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct, and for the return of those standards with Stanley as it`s flagship. CRAAACCCK!!!!!!!! Ooooops me soapbox just broke. I think Ive said enough, Please buy the CD. Cheers LUV Z |
Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
Right, fancy the gig on 26th, can't beat live music.
Just checked my collection and the CD will be going between Captain Beefheart and Charlie Parker. |
Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
I`ll lean on Beefheart then.

So he definitely would have cost too much to get in for the "Exactly"

Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
lol at Zero "exactly" laugh with em rather than at em.
Well Zero, there's not many people get eight pages on a thread in this forum. At least you've got us talking, now for the singing. This gig is gonna rock provided we get the people through the door. I'll be there, I may even give Mrs Macca an outing. Please back this gig people cos you will enjoy it. Especially when you spend your three quid and learn all the words ;) |

In the land of milk and honey

Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
Just purchased this from the club shop tonight... got it playing now! Great E.P. - My favourite at the mo is Stanley's Back.. but I've only listened to it once. I definately recommend everyone buys this and learns the words. Great stuff Celtic Cross!

Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
A big thank you to everyone who bought CDs from us this afternoon.
A big big thankyou to Macca And Spud who did a stall for us at the Clayton end. We got a reasonable result, as we`ve never sold over 100 CDs in a day before you`ve gotta be happy but when you count that there were about 1800 Accy there it didn`t come near the target I`d hoped. Some people had already purchased copies so a big thankyou to you as well. Now all you lovely people who know a good thing when you hear it, tell everyone else they should own a copy(and don`t forget Christmas). How many of those 1800 are ready to gamble 1500 of their own cash to raise a bit of money for Stanley ? Thanks to all the people on this forum it was very nice to meet a few of you today. We hope to see some more of you at the Club this thursday and will take great delight in belting out all our Stanley tunes to the audience they were built for. What we need is Granada reports down (c`mon Rob I`ve tried my best) on thursday and reach every Stanley fan in the north west. Anyway It`s on the roll I hope you`re all enjoying it, what I like so far is different people stating different favourites which means the diversity I tried to include is working (although noone shares my favourite yet which is really a musical masterpiece disguised as a football song, any guesses ?) Well I am well and truly knackered now after touting our wares for 2 hours before the match, shouting ourselves hoarse at Stanley then finishing off with a 2 and a half hour gig in Chorley It`s time for bed. See You Thursday Cheers LUV Z |
Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
What about sending a copy to Sky's Soccer AM? They like things like that, & the chance of a plug on national (albeit satellite) telly could do no harm.

Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
How about advertising Thursday. Today is Monday and I am guessing only the few people on here know about it. 10% of them turn up and the place will be empty.

as well as other places. but for the benefit of those that don't know, Celtic Cross will be performing in the ASFC Clubhouse, off Livingstone Road, behind the Crown pub on Whalley Road. They are performing this gig gratis (free of charge) on behalf of the Supporters Club to try and get some profits back into the bar. All are welcome. Admission is free of charge but there will be raffles or something on the night. The songs off the EP will feature at some point during the night and are sure to bring the roof down. Next week there will be a campaign for a new roof for the clubhouse. |
Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
It has also been advertised on The Bee and 2BR local event guides as of this afternoon

Well i'm surprised no-ones mentioned this yet but the lyrics are wrong or my hearings gone kaput
Right at the start of the Cart on song they spell out Accrington as A - C - R - C - I - N - G - T - O - N , go on grab your cd and have a listen :) |
Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
Congrats KSH
After all this time I was wondering if anyone was ever going to spot that. Now the secret behind that is to get everyone behind the goal chanting the anagram then the opponents defences will be so confused trying to work out what that spells that we`ll be 1 up before they`ve worked it out. It`s actually AC-RCI_GnT ON Get rehearsing. The CDs full of little psychologies like that one. |

Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
I think Arkwright's got a point; a few freebies to local radio and television stations and national ones such as Radio 1 and Mark Radcliffe, or even Mike Harding, on Radio 2 may well pay dividends and could even lead to an interview.
Apart from that, it was good to say hello to Celtic Cross on Saturday and I had a splendid journey home after the match listening to the CD in the car. |
Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
I`ve sent copies to all the local radio stations so I don`t know what they`re doing with them.
All I can reapeat is Phone in your requests, make them pay attention. E-mailed Radcliffe (among others)- no response Why dont some fans e-mail anyone they think of, they might take more notice if it`s not me touting our wares to em. Give the public what they want. But yeah e-mail/phone the locals, bombard them with requests for SB Tracks, they`ve got copies at 2br, the bee, R Lancs + rock FM and my details if they need more. We need to fire a peasants revolt. If just the people on accyweb hit em a few times each they`ve got to succumb to punk rock Stanley songs on air. Don`t miss out on Thursday night if you can help it, the nearer it gets the more fired up for it I am, we got a brilliant response in Leigh on Sunday playing all four songs, can`t wait to play them in the place they were made for. ;) Honestly I`ve not had as much fun in rock n roll ever as making this and then being able to chit chat with you lot about it all. :D Guess what ? A couple of Saddlers have become My Space friends. Proper sound lads and they loved "Cart ON" at the match. Radio Phone nos............ Websites 2BR - 01282 690000....... 2BR - Musicfunlife Lancs - 01254 262411.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/lancashire/local_radio/ Bee - 01254 778000 ...... 107 The Bee - Home Rock FM - 01772 477700. 97.4 rockfm If you`ve got any ideas post em up here then everyone can bug them Any stations needing Promos E-mail me zero that will be @ celticcross.co.uk sorry to have to write it like that but direct e-mail links tend to drag no end of spam with them. Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
A little note to the sender of the anonymous negative karma about the last post reading
**** you stop using us for your gain Is that what you think this is about ? Don`t you think if I was looking to make money I would be singing songs for Man U or Chelsea not our humble little league 2 outfit. I wrote this stuff after coming to support my club and feeling that not enough people were joining in the noise. I thought if we had a nice simple song that everyone could join in and was not the same old middle of the road s**t u usually get that it would spread the sound around the ground in tumultuous chorus. Also I thought the return of Stanley to the league warranted a musical celebration and by increasing social activities bring people closer together. There`s bound to be some negative small minded people there always is when you make a big effort to something that they`re not prepared to. We spent 3 x 300 man hours between 5 aug and 27 th of september recording and engineering the CD (Fee £0) I paid for the replication of the CD in it`s entirity (Fee -£1500) I have spent an immesurable amout of time on the internet publicising, answering questions, e-mailing blah de blah (Fee £0) 5 people spent 3 hours outside the ground on Saturday trying to maximise launch day sales (Fee £0 x 5) We play a FREE concert in the clubhouse on thursday (Fee £0) and are available for a similar fee for other events thru the year. Also promos and posters etc have been produced at my expense (Fee £0). We`ve NEVER had a Free admission in fact F.A. free from the club. When you`re are ready to put that amount of time and effort in, put £1500 and your neck on the line THEN you`ll be in a position to send me bad Karma. It`s bound to raise the profile of our band, every single thing we do is designed to do that, but after 30 years in the game still living in a terrace in Springhill, some people think I`m a bloody millionaire. Do you know SOME people are actually HAPPY for us that after all those years of sticking to our guns finally we get a bit of interest but if you think it`s gonna make me Bono overnight you`ll be sadly disappointed (or probably happily in your case). Again I`d like to thank all the people in this forum who HAVE got behind it and taken it in the spirit that was meant, Cart On ! |
Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
That wasn`t an attempt to win back Karma points but thanks for those anyway :D

Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
I love the smell of controversy in the morning!!!
Cart On Zero, I wouldn't back you if I thought it was about personal gain, I think you are doing a great service to Stanley and giving us something that we haven't had properly before. Anybody remember the Accrington Go song? These new efforts knock spots off that cassette and we should honour them whilst they are there. In ten years time people will ask if anybody remembers the Cart On song and people will go to their obsolete CD collection and wish they still had a CD player to play it on. Looking forward to tomorrow nights FREE GIG and I hope we get a good crowd and the bar makes a good return on a night when otherwise they would have made nowt. |
Re: Cart on Stanley - New Music Track
Ever thought of doing a gig in Paphos area? You know - European tour and all that.. :D

No seriously we`d love to do stuff like that but it`s a logistic impossibilty for a 2 bit outfit like ourselves. If we had agents and management wiping our rsez then it might happen. The only other offer has been for a full seasons in a bar which has 2 downsides - 1 we`re a bit too punk rock socio political comment to be ever truly palatable to holiday makers (and who wants 6 months in a euro Blackpool)(not saying Paphos is like that). - 2 after 6 months out of the picture everything we`ve worked the last 10 years building up here has dwindled back to square 1. If anyone wants to tour manage us and make us millionare`s we wont say no, we just won`t change. I`d love the blood of Cowell on my hands, I`d never wash again (er well I mean I would continue not to wash) Cheers LUV Z |

When I first heard the song it didn't do much for me but then I found myself actully singing it and listening to it again it's grown on me, so much so that I'm now using the ringtone and will happily tell anyone who hears it that they can buy the full version from the Info Centre in the Town Hall. Cart on Celtic Cross. BTW where did the name Celtic Cross come from ?

I was only jokin but if you do decide to come to Paphos on holiday, make sure you bring a guitar and give me a heads up :)

The name Celtic Cross pronounced KeltiK comes from the Crossbreeding of Celtic Music and a wide range of other musical styles. no Small amount of Punk Rock, some Reggae, Ska, Indy, metal and country into the genre we call Turbofolk. It`s got nothing to do with Celtic FC although we have played quite a few supporters clubs around the country, (mostly due to singing a real good version of "Fields of Athenry") we even had the Scottish league cup at one of our gigs last year. Most people think that Celtic means Irish, Scottish or Welsh but seem to forget that England was Celtic before all that, and some of us still are (even if my great great great great gran was Sh****d by a Viking). Did you know that Fenian is derived from Phonoecian, and that they sailed from today`s Lebanon to settle in the Emerald Isle and are therefore originally immigrants despite their banner waving. (ever listened to "Dope for Guns" by the Ruts) They get pretty upset tho if you mention it. The Irish are probably our best audience (largest number anyway) but I still love to wind `em up, after a gig most of `em don`t believe we`re English. Anyway like it says in "Multiculture" from our album "Folk de Future" it aint about where you come from it`s about the person you are, and I`m a right tw*t. Why can`t I write a nice simple post on here that`s not a flamin essay ? Footy`s coming on t` telly I`m off. Bye |
