STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

See sig

There will be 50 frames of various sizes (and amounts of pics in each frame) over two rooms. A few (half a dozen maybe) pictures from garth dawson showing last in league.. Followed by my pics showing the last conference season and build up to winning the league and promotion to the football league... then a few pics from this season.. first goal and stuff like that

Mainly it's to show and celebrate the winning of the conference and the promotion to the football league..Hence the apt title STANLEY ARE BACK

I picked up the frames today and having them mounted over next few weeks then its a big printing job and back to the gallery..

Latest gallery brouchers will advertise the exhibition so I will make sure theres plenty at the club to give out :)

KIPAX 10-11-2006 21:15

Re: STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

Brouchure of the actual exhibition.. cant afford.. its gonna kill me getting the mounts and printing done.. Each pic will have a bit of text on a card to explain it..

The plan is to sell the exhinition at the end to recoup the cost of mounts and prints (NO PROFIT)... cant sell frames as there howorths and cant sell garths pics.. but all the rest mounted will be sold as a collection... there will be small.. big.. bigger and very big.. all manner of sizes :)

What happened to the funding for an exhibition with the Supporters club? :)

Gayle 10-11-2006 21:45

Re: STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

It was submitted to Heritage Lottery and they want to fund it but they wanted more info - it was going to be on the agenda for Monday. I didn't know anything about Kipax's thing but I suspect that the supporters club may not want to continue with the exhibition now (or may not need to).

Its a photo exhibition ... nothing like what the OSC was doing... i organised it with the gallery at the end of last season.. the only space they had was over crimbo or just after and we decided just after was best.. i kept the club informed who have sent a letter of support to the gallery

I'm not picking at you or the supporters club Gayle. But why haven't we got this thing right, the clubs recent success is the only thing the town has to be proud about and we seem the run out of steam? I'm sure you'll rip into me if I'm wrong.....:)

No that's a justified question.

But you're implying that we got it wrong and we haven't. They want to fund it they just want to give us more money than we initially asked for but we have to resubmit it to get the extra money. I know it sounds a bit cock-eyed but that's basically it.

Definitely not run out of steam.

Definitely not run out of steam.

I stand corrected Gayle, I would say excellent news on the money front, let’s hope it comes together.

maccawozzagod 10-11-2006 22:30

Re: STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

This was discussed at the last OSC meeting and will be brought up again at the next meeting (this monday at 7pm in the clubhouse ;) ). As Gayle said, the money givers wanted a lot more information such as what becomes of the collection after the initial exhibition has run its course. I believe the sum of money mentioned was around 20k. I haven't got a lot of information on this subject as it was borne before my tenure, but will keep you all up to date with any progressions.

Gayle 10-11-2006 22:34

Re: STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

Initially we put in a bid for £30k but now I've put a bid together for £50k on the advise of the Heritage Lottery people.

KIPAX 10-11-2006 22:38

Re: STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

Great idea Mr K good luck...

Quick thought !! why cant the exhibition be down at the ground say Sun thru Friday, it would attract people to the club and possibly spend in the shop ??

I'm happy to be stood corrected but a Mr K should have more support from the club it's a marvellous project, it sums up a remarkable turnaround for Stanley celebrating all thats good about the club.

On a similar subject i would have thought the club would have put out a DVD of the championship season ??? a great idea for a stocking filler but it's too late now i guess and too late next year, i'm afraid it's a missed opportunity.

Anyhow good luck Tony.

KIPAX 13-11-2006 15:34

Re: STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

Once the exhibition is made / put together then it can be displayed anywhere... but frameless as haworth art gallery are supplying the frames for the main exibition

harwood red.. fanx:) but it will be sold as a full collection (not garths pics) rather than split up... hope a company or collector will buy ... and all I want is money back that it costs to get on:) the club may even buy it ??

Stanley auctions Tony?????

OSC auctions Tony?????

PM me an approximation Kipax, I think the OSC should purchase the collection, either for auction or for regular displays.

KIPAX 13-11-2006 16:21

Re: STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

PM dont work mate :)

Only have approx but looking at around 300 quid.. at least I hope its not more... gonna make sure all reciepts are got etc just fingers crossed i get that back at end of it to pay the costs... dont care where it goes, what happens to it or who owns it so long as I get costs back.. very important...

KIPAX 14-11-2006 11:50

Re: STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

UPDATE:

Spoken to Rob and he is going to give me some letters of congratulations from other clubs etc.. i will put them in a really BIG frame so people can read... not a photograph but breaks up the exhibition nicely and is relevant IMHO :)

KIPAX 14-11-2006 11:56

Re: STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

UPDATE:

The exhibition is supposed to be all about the season we won promotion.. ie last conf season.... it's preceded by some pics off garth when last in league and ends with a few relevant pics from this season..

however I have now been offered a whole load of pics from seasons before i was taking pics.. actual photographs with no known author... no idea who took them but handed around by our club officials.. famous stanley names of old but from this incarnation of the club.. ie 60s onwards..

had I known about these I may have done a 62 to now exhibit... but too late..

however i am a great believer that photographs should be seen and not held in a box gathering dust.. otherwise its just bits of paper.. so I am going to accept these pictures then its a case of scanning and putting on the web for all to see... unibond and earlier pics....i may need a kind soul with a scanner to do it for me?

maccawozzagod 14-11-2006 12:36

Re: STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

If i can work out how to use mine then consider it done. Had it two months and never used...............

KIPAX 05-12-2006 09:34

Re: STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

UPDATE

Finally all the pictures have been chosen and most printed.. some are A3 and sent away.. only one is bigger than A3

There are 68 Photographs by me and 9 Introductory B/W photographs by Garth Dawson from when we where last in the league. Some mounts of multiple pictures resulting in a total of 50 mounts (framed)... There is one short match report from Woking that goes more into the drama of the day than a proper match report.. is short and really tells the story... even gives the theme from minder a mention :) .... Theres laminated copies of letters from clubs and individuals congratulating the club on gaining league status ..Thanks to the club and Rob Heys the Conference trophy will also be on display throughout the exhibition.

Still on target for the cost which I guessed to be 300.. then a worried rethink to as much as 500.. I am now confident it wont get to 400... All reciepts have been kept and the supporters club will pay exactly what it costs to put the show on... In return they will get 41 mounts containing 68 pics.. plus the report (also mounted with pics) and laminated letters.... they wont get frames or garths pics or the trophy... However a normal photo exhibition is NOT framed.. only at art galleries... other venues would just be mounted then atatched to boards or walls as they are.. (Mounted is the card surrounding and backing the pics.. not what you use to hang the pic)

So with luck.. within the next week all pictures will be printed and mounted and at the gallery... all thats left then is to write 68 descriptions for 68 pictures :)

To give a little insight.. only 24 photographs are of football action (inc celebrations) because so many other pictures tell the story... quite a lot of forum members appear on pictures and the ultras come out well on a couple... Lots from woking, civic reception and conference presentation as thats the theme.... about 20 frames from the conference season as thats the season we got into the league and 5 frames of pics showing us in the football league now..Jack barret has pride of place on an A3 pic holding the trophy as he is a special part of it all..

The rest you will ahve to come along and see for yourself... me.. well I am just gonna carry on worrying and panicking that it goes down well.....eeeeerm.....gosh its scary...

Re: STANLEY ARE BACK Exhibition

Regrettably I had a funeral this morning so I couldn’t make the official bash, however, I did get over a little after two this afternoon.

Tony in my opinion this is an excellent exhibition and full credit should go to you for your effort, the exhibition is a credit to the Club and to the town.

I really hope that the OSC can keep the exhibition prints together and when possible get them reframed and display them in the same manner around the club.

For anyone thinking of going, please do so you won’t regret it and there’s the rest of the gallery to view as well and as a bonus the gallery's grounds make for some lovely views and a pleasant walk.

Kipax or Kippax as it says on the sheet they give at the gallery, I was very impressed as I've often thought the small pics on the website never do your photos justice for people viewing them.
The exhibition is well laid out with a good range of pictures from different games and events, my favourites where the ones from raise your scarf day and the Peel Park march.
Anyone thinking of going do so, even I found myself on 3 pictures but don't let that put you off, nice one kipax.

Who was that fan..... can he be traced today??

Maybe we crossed paths!! I was also there today, about 3pm!
I concur with your comments about sending the current squad to view..... perhaps. with this, Coley may be able to instill in them the passion we had last season!!
Something I think is missing, this time around.
Sorry, only my opinion.

Sorry, Mr K, I replied to other comments before this, but, I've got to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition...... all credit to you, lots of great pics, &, all thanks to you for your efforts in putting this before the great Accy public.

As I don't get to away games, I missed out on the final one where we won the championship...... but, seeing your pictures today, I felt as though I had been there.....

As someone who had Garth Dawson do my wedding photos, I place you amongst the top photographers in this region...... Sorry, I know you don't do wedding photos, so, don't want to appear patronising!!!

I am really glad you enjoyed it... I do appreciate the comments as well:) Just glad people "get it" as I think some maybe going to see a history of stanley or soemhting.. but its just meant to be the conf winning business :)

There not even supposed to be the best pics... for example the first one in the woking away pics is a pic of people jumping up and its mostly backs of people... If I was to show that as a good picture people would laugh at me... But the fact that it was the second or two that the final whistle blew confirming the title and promotion to the league makes it an important pic... so its the relevance rarther than quality... Just glad its well recieved..ta:)

Can I ask if you have plans to post the entire exhibition “with the captions and photos of the silver display” on the fishy site after it closes so all those who couldn’t can?

I don't think that would be fair onm the supporters club who will own it as they will want to exhibit it again.. at the open day for example.

I am sure they would, and should whip them out as often as possible. But why can't copies of the mounted prints and captions be posted in a virtual exhibition on the fishy site or even the OSC site come to think of it. Even those in asia will get a gander at them then. :)

Went up there before the match yesterday and really enjoyed it. I urge everybody who can do, to come along. When you actually see Mr K's pictures blown up to a larger size and on display, it brings out qualities in them that you don't always see on t'fishy site. And Garth Dawson's pics are a fascinating look back to the past. Highly recommended!

Kipax,

Had the pleasure of visiting today.

Superb is the only word I can use.

Yes, I do think we need to send the current squad to view it soon to remind them all how much pride, passion and hard work went into last season's triumph.

One minor comment; there's a picture of coley embrassing a keeper after the 1-0 win at Alty. The caption says Jon Kennedy, but surely it was Steve Jones in goal. (the following day he announced his retirement).

Also Rob Heys has managed to avoid being caught on camera!!:)

Got to say, Mr K, my wife looked at one particular pic, & said... But he's not got all their faces!! (The one where we received the trophy) I had to explain to her, that it was not a 'posed' photo, but more a capture of the moment!!
She's only used to looking at wedding photos!!!!!
I liked the sillhouette, especially, as I got one similar on my digicam.
Really enjoyed it today, looking forward to seeing same in the clubhouse (that's if we get to enjoy a drink there before the game!)

Kitchener, I was there around 3pm, if you were there when the noisy couple of kids were, then they were mine, and the mental Springer Spaniel in the grounds was mine as well.

As far as displaying the pictures to a wider Internet audience is concerned Kipax, my opinion is do it. As the OSC is there to promote the word of Stanley then there is no reason why you shouldn't. Our owning of the exhibition after closure is there firstly to ensure that no third parties profit from it and secondly to ensure that as an asset it can be viewed whenever possible. Therefore, Kipax.com would serve the club well. It would have to go to the vote of course................................. but that seems to go in favour of whoever suggested it every time at the mo :D
