The loss of income from the FA Cup must be a major blow to the club. Wasn't it £15,000 from this round if you won?

With Stanley's low gates and increasing expenditure, that has to be a very bad result for us this afternoon.

No doubt, maybe we can recoup that sum by getting ourselves down to the ground and give a little more support. I will be now I've stopped being silly and got yet another Job. :) I won't be as knackered.

Its disappointing that we are out of the cup but Mansfield were always clear favourites.

We did very well to get a point there a few weeks ago and Coley had a bigger squad to pick from then.

We should take encouragement from the fact that we pushed a very good home side so close and created a number of good chances.

I went and the atmosphere was alright with the ultras and other supporters making quite a bit of noise! Stanley wernt up to scratch in the first half in the second half they came out and played quite well but it just wouldnt happened for them! If you are in a seated area of a football ground it's an offence to continually stand while the game is on. Some stewards/clubs will enforce it more than others. If a club allows it to happen on a regular basis they can actually have that part of the ground closed down.

The problem with the Mansfield stewards is, they gave us an hard time for standing, whilst ignoring a whole block of their fans standing.

the problem with mansfield stewards is that they have huge egos and think they are something big and hard they are over cautious, which might be good against teams who have a reputation of rule breaking etc they where one of the main reasons i didnt enjoy it last time i went so therefore didn't go back this time

Opposite way round at the Turf. It's a constant source of irritation that they allow away fans to get away with standing yet if home fans even stand up to go for a pee the jobsworths are quick to tell you to sit down.

Wonder if Mansfield use the same company as Burnley ?

All of pages 56 and 57 devoted to "A day in the life of a Steward"!

Contains such gems as:

I spy a youngster with a lollipop, so I resort to checking my manual, Aha! My suspicions are confirmed.... A dangerous weapon, action must be taken. Of course the risk of harm to myself is a possibility but that's my job."

Thing is, everyone knows what the Mansfield stewards are like from the away game not too long ago. They are obviously total jobsworths with an idiot dishing out the code of conduct for them. So why push them?! Stupid.

maccawozzagod 12-11-2006 08:20

Re: It's Saturday and we're Away

The battle of wills with the stewards actually kept me entertained throughout. Tosspots complained about everything. Jase's horn was about six inches long, sqeaked rather than owt else and was made of plastic. Jase got binned for complaining. Somebody else got binned for complaining about them complaining. I'll give them their due though, ten minutes into the game and I pointed out that we would sit when their little chav army sat down, told the Hitler to get onto his safety officer and point it out. Within five minutes five or six stewards and two coppers had waded into them and they all sat down with the exception of the two lads who got issued with the first pink slips of the day! The little horny female steward gets no complaints neither ;) ;)

Must give mention to Jase swimming across the lake, outsinging Mansfield in a packed Mansfield pub, outsinging Mansfield (again) in an empty stadium, Spuds projectile vomiting, Spuds big bruv fast asleep in the middle of a bouyant Ultra outing and spraying Burger King with the remnants of a friday night. Oh and the little female steward ;)

By standing up? & how could you see what was happening from Accy

Stupid

shakermaker 12-11-2006 11:16

Yes, by standing up!
Obviously it seems a stupid rule to enforce but that's the way it is.
If you already know that they're going to be ******* with the away fans then don't give them ammo to throw people out & spoil the day!!
Don't go dishing out digs about not being there, some of us have other responsibilities away from a game.

When you enter a football stadium you agree to adhere to the terms and conditions that they and the FA have set. If that means remaining sat down in a seated area then you have little cause to complain.
You don't have to agree with it, but you should comply. You don't like it, don't go.

Simple.

I hate to say this but I have to agree with both TM and Shakermaker, also when Accy get promoted and we HAVE to become an ALL SEATER stadium, then you will face the same problems if you refuse to sit down.

We are no longer a non league club, and to expect to be allowed to stand in a seated are is, Im afraid, not going to be tolerated by quite a few clubs...........therefore what is the point of paying your hard earned cash to get in, only to be ejected for somthing so silly?

Whilst you may think that the Stewards are 'jobsworths', just remember that they act on the say so of the Ground Safety Officer and as such are anwerable to Him/Her should they not do thier jobs correctly..............just as our Stewards are!

The stewards have to enforce the rules for the safety of everyone in the ground.
Even if they do have an attitude or whatever then that should be reported.
Why persist to stand up and consequently spoil the day for people when it is easier to go by the rules and watch the game.
Are you physically incapable of supporting Stanley while sat down

For the prices they charge to get in, you should be allowed to sit, stand or do bloody cartwheels if you feel so inclined. Taking Jase's little kazoo thingy was just laughable.

The whole place is just a joke. Following Stanley, I have always found away games to be pleasent experiences, but this took the p**s (even Hereford let flags in). :(

If you already know that they're going to be ******* with the away fans then don't give them ammo to throw people out & spoil the day!!
Don't go dishing out digs about not being there, some of us have other responsibilities away from a game.

Wasn't having a dig, you weren't there, you don't know what happened. I missed Watford but didn't feel the need to comment as I wasn't there.

Yet I'm stupid, because I'd like to stand in a football ground & support my team as fans have done for 100+ years up & down the country.....

UK Stadia are increasingly sterile places with no atmosphere & I for one will continue to try to stand & support the reds with as much gusto as possible.

Shaker it is only a few weeks ago you complained about the atmosphere. Maybe the ones who do sing at Accy games shouldn't bother? Everyone be happier?

As for not going, despite watching 15 minutes through the railings I had a fantastic day thanks....

Tweedy Tales included, breaking down on the highest motorway in England, Harry kicking his shoe in the Lake, me stripping off & rescuing it, out singing Mansfield (as always), joining in the Anti Keith Haslam protest outside the directors lounge, discussing football with some great lads in the bar, Nicks Chippy & Ma Hubbards etc etc

Stay home? Erm no!

You don't have to agree with it, but you should comply. You don't like it, don't go.

Simple.

But its not that simple is it?

Say the next rule was no scarves because they may be a trip hazard if left unattended. Say they said no shouting AT ALL for health & safety. Where does it stop ? & Before you say that its silly. If you'd have told me in 1985 that terraces would be banned I'd have laughed my winky off.

Yet here we are in 2006 & you can't stand up & if you do footie fans think its ok for you to be ejected for it. Thats Balls! & Footie fans up & down the country who are also passionate about stadia with no atmosphere also agree.

Only in England would fans go "Oh well, them's the rules"

Football fans are only £££££'s to the authorities & it stinks!!!!

The rules aren't made for no reason.
They are there to be followed and as Tin Monkey said, you agree to follow them when you enter a football ground.
If you see it right to break the rules and consequently get thrown out then fair enough, just don't moan about it, you have no reason to.
It's not the stewards fault - they don't pick on fans, they act on instructions to make sure it is safe for people in the ground.

I said nothing against singing, I have no idea where you got that from.

How did I moan about it? I reacted to being called stupid ............. I wasn't bothered in the slightest TBH as the experience IN THE GROUND at Mansfield is ****.

Nearly stayed at home TBH

Others complained about being treated like **** by stewards who impliment the same rules as we do (& Stockport etc etc) but do it in a way that screams "jobsworth"

Like I said before, if the stewards in yours and others opinion are acting wrongly it should be reported to the safety officer or directly to the club.
My only point is that people knew the reputation of Mansfield's stewards before the game, so I don't understand why people thought it would be a good idea to break the rules in the first place.

Incidents like Hillsborough have brought about rules such as the ones implemented at Mansfield to keep people safe. There can't be any real argument against them, to do so would be absurd.

You support Stanley in your way & I'll do it in my 'grumpy old man sitting down with prawn sandwiches' way.

Willie Miller 12-11-2006 17:08

Re: It's Saturday and we're Away

Shaker, there really ain't gonna be a Hillsborough disaster with 170 Accy fans & the back row stood up

All we ask is some common sense. 900 stood up at Ibrox when we went with Aberdeen.... & it was full & fans died in thre Ibrox disaster years ago

PS I don't mind how you support Stanley just object to your opinionated view of how others support. I'm sure you would if I said that you are only young & must stand & chant on the ClaytonEnd. I stopped one fan yesterday who was screaming for EVERYONE to join in. Not everyone wants to sing. We understand that as you must understand my need to shout till I'm hoarse STOOD UP!
