Re: OSC Open Day.
I'd certainly have backed the idea Kipax, the backlash would come from only a handful of people and is the same with whatever idea anybody comes up with. They are the people who just want to find fault with everything. Done right, done tastefully and done professionally there would be no cause for complaint. Approach the right sort of businesses for sponsorship and the prizes will bring the entrants. Usually they win something like a holiday, free cosmetics and spending money. So we need three or four local companies to put their hand in their pockets. Newspaper and or radio would give us the press we need very easily. Then its just choose a respectable panel of judges, decide a format (no swimwear unfortunately cos that would give cause for complaint) and away we go. The winner would have to agree to a minimum number of shoots for the club as that would be the purpose of having it. She would model the club merchandise and would be present at all Stanley related photo opportunities. She would be at the carnival float/stall and would be in the programme every week. She could have her own calender etc etc etc.
Wouldn't be that hard to put together but I dont have time for that now. Perhaps an entirely separate event (I mean fundraiser) and it would pull the crowds in to fill the bar for another evening. |
Re: OSC Open Day.
Thats kinda what I pitched and the club (rob) said it was a goer.. i think it was re raised at the time Karen joined the club and they said gonna do it.. but they never did....shock eh..
Certain members of the supporters club who where aghast when i suggested just one supporter of the year instead of male AND female where the same ones who where against a miss accy stanley.. seemed they wanted women to get awards.. just not for looking good :) Main objective as you say was that the winner could then help promote the club.. Your day is the wrong side of the accy carnival or ya could have got the new queen to double up as accy thingy.. |
Re: OSC Open Day.
I don’t think there’s any harm in a professionally done Miss Accy Stanley and if it brings media interest for the right reasons and promotes what’s good about the town then the sooner the better. There’s always going to be dissenters, but you can’t please everybody.
Mr Macca, I like the fact that there’s a lot of thought and forward thinking going on here, it can only be good for the club, I hope people get infused and join in. I think getting people to come forward with ideas old as well as new and putting together a scrap book of things that can be achieved over the coming year will pay dividends. |
Re: OSC Open Day.
Everything I do from here on in for the OSC will create a template. Names, contact numbers, unused ideas etc. A simple event will have a checklist of things to do to ensure its success. Ticking down a list of boxes is easier than sitting thinking who do I need to ring next? Learning from my mistakes etc will make the job easier next year, year after and for which ever poor soul succeeds me! I wish I had inherited a file with dos and donts in it so I will try to do that for the next committee. Keep helping folks, all input is valuable.
Still looking for hands in the air for the inaugural committee that needs to be sat down next week. |
Re: OSC Open Day.
My idea is as follows...
Why dont we have a North West based mascots race ?? their are probably 30 teams in the region (50 miles) also include non league and amatur clubs if they have them !! I have seen pictures on Kipax site of this but correct me if i'm wrong Tony are the races down south ?? irrespective we could have a mascots race on the pitch... always good for a laugh and usually make's north west/granada tonight type news programmes. But most of all entertaining light hearted fun...:Banane11: :Banane33: :Banane44: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Formally Give us a green... but due to tech. probs re registered |
Re: OSC Open Day.

I have been thinking of how I could contribute aside from going for Miss Stanley - providing I can guarantee the day of work I would love to run a stall. I dont have anything to sell, but if you gave me something to run I would do it. Let me email work and I will let you know. |
Re: OSC Open Day.
cheers Kisser, there will be plenty of raffle, tombola tickets etc to sell....

Re: OSC Open Day.
Macca would love to help but won't be back in the UK until may. If you want some stuff from the U S of A as raffle prizes or such like let me know. American Football Jerseys, Baseball Caps, T shirts etc..I could mail them to you.
