Stanley v Chengdu Blades

It will be interesting to see how much we charge for this friendly. Chengdu Blades are playing at Worksop tonight, admission £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.

Not sure it's a good idea to be playing this game just now anyway with the list of injuries we have - don't want to risk any more just for a friendly game.

The club aren't exactly pushing it, are they? Hang on maybe I should be looking at the Asian Stanley site

Still no mention on 'Fishy' site about admission charges for this game...........anybody know?

Re: Stanley v Chengdu Blades

Now on t'fishy site...eight quid adults, four quid concessions. Not too bad, but I reckon they should've matched Worksop's prices.

Re: Stanley v Chengdu Blades

I’ll make the effort to come, but I’m far from impressed by recent results. It’s time to get behind the club and push on; we desperately need to boost morel although the win at Wrexham should have provided all the encouragement needed. What a mess.

So what will Tuesday night bring us in our friendly encounter with Chengdu Blades, well we should be able to pick up some materiel for the club house or the Clayton end bar when that goes up. I still think it’s a pity they “the Club” didn’t make more of this game, lets hope the team and the supporters do.

Anyone brave enough to do “Guess the Gate”

Could be tricky, Doug. How many do Chengdu usually bring?

Worksop won 3-1. Match report is on their home page: http://www.worksoptownfc.co.uk/index.php

As it's a friendly if I go on the Clayton End will I be able to get a pint at half time or will the gate be locked?

I'll go for 100 :)

Sometimes a neutral can be attracted to other games but is this match really that attractive even to the die hard Stanley fans ?

100 at the most IMHO, two home league games coming up, weather diabolical, moral at a low ebb, no 'away' fans, and as far as I can see no active promotion of the game other than one line here and there. Another one wasted.

Will be interesting to some if some of the Chinese community in the area take an interest in a team from their homeland

Wynonie Harris 07-01-2007 12:38

Re: Stanley v Chengdu Blades

Is there a Chinese community in East Lancs, apart from the occasional takeaway owner and their families? Maybe the club should've had a cheap flyer printed up and left some in a few shops in Chinatown?

At the risk of being told off for posting this in a Stanley thread, the theme continued today. Got a text at 10.45 to say my daughters football match was on, turned up at the ground at 1.30 and it was off. Not been a good weekend lol

Agreed
wrong time of year, lack of players, poor form and not enough money on my part to see the match tomorrow.

Shame I can't forecast as good for the games I attend:(

Re: Stanley v Chengdu Blades

According to t'fishy site, this game's off now, which is probably a blessing in disguise, as I reckon the gate would have been embarrassingly low. However, I hope this has been posted on the StanleyAsia site, as I would hate to think of the Blades Ultras coming all this way for nothing!

Re: Stanley v Chengdu Blades

A real shame about this cos I`d been looking forward to it since it was announced, but like you say probably a blessing in disguise. We surely couldn`t afford for Toddy or Mullers to pick up an injury for no reason whatsoever, check their squad pic they`ve nearly twice as many as us.

Hope this fixture can be re-arranged for between seasons as I think it would be good for the club. And hopefully give time to get better publicity out about it and get some resident chinese down to fill up the away end a bit.

Calt On Stanrey !

:D
