I'm sorry but............

Not sure if it's worth posting, because I'm sure that I'll get grief, however I need to express my thoughts!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

What has been achieved will shortly be confined to history and no doubt will be the subject of a Granada documentary, sometime in the near future. IMHO we are currently on the crest of the second demise of the Stanley!

Through ignorance, arrogance and down right incompetence the Chairman and manager are returning this club to non-league obscurity.

Don't blame the fans who stand in the rain, don't blame the sponsors, who pay ridiculous sums of money for poor facilities, don't blame the directors, who are nothing more the mere token representatives of club, don't blame the council and don't blame the press.

We have failed to seize commercial advantage of heritage by fully exploiting the name of Accrington Stanley. This in turn with poor marketing and facilities leaves the population of Accrington at home, with nothing more the curiosity as to the Stanley results on Saturday teatime.

Our talented players have been sold and not replaced, nor will they be if Asda offers better T&C’s.

One piece of advice to the powers at be!……Accept mistakes have been made, allow other people to assist and advice, make changes immediately to resolve our current status, otherwise All the efforts of so MANY people will count for nothing, other than history!!

Mr. Whalley and Mr. Coleman have taken the applause and the accolades, well it's now time to stand-up and be accountable, take the criticism and do something about it!!

God bless the name of Accrington Stanley!
Amen

Re: I'm sorry but............

A lot of the critisicism is utter rubbish to be honest. People make it out like Whalley could've made shedloads with some proper merchandising etc

He has two other shops, one of which brings in tourists from far and wide, selling Accrington Stanley gear. To merchandise properly, you'd have to put money into it, and money is one thing we'll never really have. Just because we've sold a couple of players, people suddenly think we're loaded and Eric is being a skin flint, he's not, he's just being careful.

God Bless Eric, cart on with what you're doing, and to be honest, just ignore most of the bollocks that gets posted on here.

And as for Coleman, the man is a God, he lives and breathes Accrington Stanley, he's never steered the club wrong before, and I don't think he'll do it now.

I wasn't at the Notts Home Game, so can't comment on the performance. I was however at the Wrtexham game, and if we can emulate that perfomance a few more times, we'll be reet as rain.

We'll stay up, and people will moan about other things next seaon.

I mean, what did you expect when we won promotion on gates of less than 2k? Did you think we'd bulldoze the league? Just be realistic, this is the situation anybody thinking straight would've predicted.

If we go down, so what? At least we've done what people thought impossible by getting here in the first place.

I'm sure somebody will tell me I've got my head buried in the sand or something along those lines, but I couldn't care less. Get behind the Club, don't try tripping them up with critisism at every given oppurtunity.

Rant over

IF we are relegated, that doesn't mean to obscurity of non league. It means back to the conference where we can sort out the team and try to come back again stronger...

Why moan about JC and EW. We owe them gratitude for being in the league right now.

KEEP THE FAITH!!!

JEFF 15-01-2007 08:39

Re: I'm sorry but............

Have you ever thought that some people can only do so much before they are out of their depth ? Maybe EW and JC are now out of their depth. EW said that his ambition was to get Stanley into the league and then hand over control to someone else. Well he has got Stanley into the league but not handed over control. What is his next move - get Stanley back into the Conference ? We all know what EW and JC have done for the club but that is in the past, we are now in the present and looking to the future. The club will not have a future if people keep bringing the past into the present. Some of you say "so what if we get relegated". Look at the teams that have been relegated, Scarborough - where are they ? Rushden & Diamonds - where are they ? Cambridge - where are they ? These teams are not on their way back. If Stanley go down again it will be Stanley ? Who are they ? We are a Football League club and if we don't get our act together and behave like a Football League club we are off to obscurity, then you can all enjoy yourselves at Frickley again. Wake up and behave like supporters of a Football League club and worry about getting relegated. IT DOES MATTER.

Growler 15-01-2007 09:15

Re: I'm sorry but............

Jeff,

I'm a supporter of Accrington Stanley. Not just a league club.
It's great that we're in the league but it's not the end of the world if we get relegated.

I'm struggling to be overly optimistic right now but I certainly don't think we'll drop into obscurity whatever happens this season.

I think too many people are blaming Coley for our troubles when the fact of the matter is that our budget isn't really enough to support a league side.

This will all change of course when I become the record breaking lottery winner!!!

Revived Red 15-01-2007 09:29

Re: I'm sorry but............

But we MUST look forward.

OK, it's not the end of the world if we are relegated - but it is a huge setback. What of the future if we are relegated? Do we then strive to back into League 2, struggle on and off the field (low attendance, poor results etc etc), accept relegation again. We are then in a cycle from which there is no exit.

The situation now is that we are in the League - and must do all that we can to stay there. We must continue to be ambitious - and, in reality, that means looking ahead - not back. At every level in the club, we need individuals and systems that look forward and can take us forward.

JEFF 15-01-2007 09:31

Re: I'm sorry but............

Growler,

I am a supporter of Accrington Stanley. Not a laughing stock. Which is what we will become if we get relegated. Why do you keep saying "it's not the end of the world if we get relegated" ? I bet supporters of Boston, Mansfield, Macclesfield, Torquay, etc. don't have that attitude. Of course it's the end of the world if we get relegated, it's the end of the world as we know it now. We don't want to get relegated we want to stay where we are, by hook or by crook. Stop laying down and accepting defeat.

Got to admit I am getting sick of seeing that.. even moreso from some people I would least expect it from... and from people who maybe shouldn't say it no matter what given there positions and from people who have waited a lot longer than I have to be here..

I know some say it was more fun in non league and for me it certainly was... But I wouldn't wish it back on us.. I think staying in this league will be as big an achievement as getting here and it will take a massive effort from ALL of us.. lets not be defeated with 20 games to go eh :)

HERE HERE, I must admist I am one of those that isn't too bothered about if we have to go down. The other teams mentioned would be going down to a level they are not accustomed to and cannot afford to be at, that is why teams struggle to return. We however would not have to cut much cloth in order to save a few quid, we would be in a much stronger position than most who go down.

However I would obviously rather be a league club, 57 points to play for yet and it aint over. Come on you reds

Sometimes I'm absolutley gob smacked with what people come up with on this forum. But the recent trend to say it won't be too bad if we get relegated tops the lot.

How any supporter of a football club can come out with these sentiments is genuinley beyond me. With the attitude that "what will be will be" the club will struggle to survive. Negativity is like a cancer, we all need to strive to be positive in times like this - it's that attitude that helped teams like Bury and Torquay to survive. We must not get relegated and we must all believe that we will not get relegated.

The Wrexham performance demonstrated what this team is capable of and we as supporters need to inspire our team to repeat that performance throughout the remainder of the season. If that happens we will not get relegated.

Believe...

Re: I'm sorry but............

I think my comments have been taken a little bit out of context. I stated my complete feelings in various other threads that are related to by Kipax saying about everybody this and that. Of course I want us to stay up and I said so in my post. I shout as loud as anybody else every matchday, I try to organise the OSC into showing their support in various different guises. If I wasn't as 'bothered' as people are making out then why would I spend hours upon hours of my own time doing the things I do? What I mean to say by not being 'bothered' is that isn't the end of the world. I don't want to keep up the doom and gloom but I have to respond to the criticism now being levelled at me.

Of course it will hurt if things go belly up, but the club will still be there, most of us will still be there and we will still be Accy Stanley. We bother because Accy Stanley is the club we love for lots of different reasons, for those that love the club we do so regardless of our stature, THATS WHAT I MEAN BY I DONT CARE. For those of you too ignorant to read beyond the words then it is pointless explaining any further

I do wish that the people who post replies on here would read beyond the first 10 words of the message they are replying to. I also wish that they would not put words into people's mouths. I do not keep saying "it's not the end of the world if we are relegated" - I've said it only once. It happens to be true. It's also true that it could be the end of the football world as we know it. What I went on to say, for the benefit of those who did not read on or who did not understand this, is that an up-and-down yo-yo existence is not what we want.

We MUST stay in the League - read again what I wrote in my previous post : "The situation now is that we are in the League - and must do all that we can to stay there. " It does not get much more positive than that. My worry, again expressed clearly (well, I thought it was clear!) in my original post, concerns those who keep looking back at what has been achieved. Of course the achievements are fantastic - but we must go on to higher things. That's ambition, that's being positive.

Bazf 15-01-2007 14:55

Re: I'm sorry but............

F*&k*ng unbeliveable thread.......we have just had the best season in the history of this club. We are in the football league and all that it entails, next season with the new TV agreement we will get some real good money and the gap between the league and the conference will get wider.
All this talk about relegation should be on the other teams boards not ours, yes we are 3 from bottom, yes we are struggling, but thats football, one year up the next down, its not the end of the world. We could be Telford or Barrow or even Spouthport they would change places with us in a heartbeat. We have no control on what happens on a saturday, the only people that do are the players. JC doesn't kick the balls, Rob Heys or Eric don't, the only one that do are the players, they and they alone are what makes and breaks a football club. A mangers instructions are only good if they are carried out correctly. I am sure JC doesn't have a game plan to get players injured or sent off, also no player goes on the pitch and says I think I will have a stinker today, thats not an excuse its just a fact of life. Lets get behind the players and the management of this club, lets come together as one unit and I am sure we will stay up and only get better. Player respond to comments and if they hear a positive attitude from the supporters then they will respond in kind. Lets be more positive and think of the club and not petty digs at people who ae doing their best for Stanley.

Unfortunately, people seem to use this forum to consistently "gripe" & pick holes in other forum users posts....

To say Rob wouldn't be bothered about Accy going down competely misses the point & to use his position as OSC Chairman as a stick to somehow beat him with is wrong

Look, we are all in this together, some optimistic some pessimistic, maybe we'll go down & maybe we won't. The main thought for me is that I'll still have a fantastic football club to feel proud of whatever happens.

What is sad is that we can't keep personal agenda's off the forum (ie Sack Rob Heys!!!!!!!). Everyone involved with ASFC I am sure are aware of the shortcomings but we all need to stop & look how far we have come in the last 6 years. Then stop & ALL try our best to repeat the process in the next 6.

Sack the "history makers" is just a hinderance

Pretty much the same as the comment you made after the OSC/Ultra do when you said it wasn't a joint do it was an Ultra do. Smilies count for nowt when you read the fact of the text, that was a potentially damaging comment much the same as this one.

I think it's great that the few supporters we have are getting so passionate about where we are & where we want the club to go, but we need to stick together and not take sides.

I think it's obvious that we all want Stanley to be in this league next season, let's just do our bit by keeping the faith that Accy will continue to shoot down expectations & reach for the top. Roof or no roof. On Stanley On.

I have to agree with Revived Red! You MUST stay in the league this year! It will get easier every year you stay in the league providing the right people are at the helm. My football club (Hartlepool) has been the butt of any jokes like yourselves for many years. It makes the good times, when they come, all the more sweeter though. You are not 1 of the 2 worst teams in the league, and I think you are unlucky to be in your current position. Keep the faith the club NEEDS your support. Good luck

See how many clap the team onto the pitch tomorrow
or clap them off it
Or encourage a good tackle or pass

We need old school "passion" for the reds but we just don't seem to get it at Accy despite our best efforts. Make FES a fortress ? We must try harder:o

She could come with us, my midwifery skills are excellent & I couln't think of anywhere better than the away end of an Accy game to give birth;)

I know some say it was more fun in non league and for me it certainly was... But I wouldn't wish it back on us.. I think staying in this league will be as big an achievement as getting here and it will take a massive effort from ALL of us.. lets not be defeated with 20 games to go eh :)

HERE HERE!! i couldnt agree more. 2007/08 in the football league will be stanley's greatest achievement by far. Results of late haven't been the best, but there are plenty of games still to play and 2 weeks of the transfer window remaining. The season is far from over :-)

bring your bi-noc-u-lars on tuesday or come stand with me near the corner flag....what you dont see from t'other side of ground is coleman walking from changing rooms to the dugout... as he walks along they stand up in the seats and applaud him... anywhere near the stand and theres arms out trying to shake his hand... bring a tear to your eye mate... the only people knocking coley are a few sad sacks on here and a couple of people on the clayton end...
