Re: Free Admission

I have to agree with Tin monkey here, why are Stanley predicting to lose so much money here when they could have set a minimum entrance fee of say £2 a go instead of free?

As generous as the offer is,maybe a 3-4000 crowd at just £2 would have minimised any loss to the club?

maccawozzagod 15-03-2007 18:52

Re: Free Admission

the quote from Eric on the way home from Swindon was that if they dont come when its free then they never will.

Perhaps it is a test of just what the town wants?

If they dont come out in droves for this one then we may as well all pack up?

As far as Eric is concerned this game and surviving the season is far more important than £13000 or less, I agree. If the place rocks and we can bring home the points then just maybe with another home match next week against the Welsh, we will stand a chance of surviving. As it stands at the moment we are bottom - a point below Torquay.

We simply cannot afford to lose.

I'm not really sure what to do...

I know there is a 20% reduction on Fosters in Club Bar, but it will be packed, and as much as I love my money going to Stanley, I also love being able to actually get my drinks! But will possibly go after the match (well, after the clean-up!)

I may go Oaklea for my 15% discount beforehand instead, but I agree, will have to be early!

:D See ya all there!

Slightly puzzled why you expect them to be nice when the comments on here about Burnley are usually derogatory.

Oh hang on it's a perfect Stanley fan with a Blue & White shirt on. How much do you get paid for **** stirring these days

shakermaker 16-03-2007 15:58

Re: Free Admission

The derogatory comments made towards Burnley FC and some of their supporters from ASFC is because of the idiocy displayed by numbers of Burnley 'fans' at various Stanley games & pre-season friendlies time and time again.
Burnley's attitude towards our fans as displayed in the quote "NOW THEY ARE A MINOR IRRITATION AND THE SOONER THEY DEPART THE BETTER" is fully unjustified. However it is a small section of Burnley fans that are the said delinquents and there are other sections of support that have good relations with our club.

I wouldn't expect any different neither. Just like if they came on here asking us to go down there, I'd tell em to sod off.

I particularly agree with the comments about going bust/relegated. I dont ever want Burnley or Rovers to go bust, but I wouldn't mind em getting relegated for the knock on effect to us etc.

Just going back on track, in the Accrington Observer EW says he is hoping for 3,500. Is that because of the away end taking up a large section or is that really all he is hoping for ? I would have thought he should wish for more when it's free ?

No but it's a large percentage in terms of actual space. Must be around 30% of the grounds capacity which for a team like Torquay is dead space. Maybe if the crowds turn out in force they might have to get some string out and section a bit of it off tomorrow :D

You know me I don't like to talk about the gate figure but what will Eric do tomorrow? I suspect that the figure given will be correct but it has been said that the figure given could be lower so he can say I let the people of Accy in for free and they still didn't come. If that happens then it will be a way of directing our failures this season away from Eric Whalley and on to the Accrington people.

Because anyone with half a brain can see that if Eric would've stepped down before this season like he said he would we wouldn't be in this mess.
Eric Whalley is a hero to every Stanley fan everywhere for getting us into the football league from Unibond obscurity & below; however biting off more than he could chew by staying on as chairman this season has cost us dearly and it is very likely we'll be back in the Unibond before you can say Justin Jackson.

Cue the bad karma.
Egits.

The away fans are restricted to the Clayton end terrace. Apparently, Stanley fans are getting all of the Whinney Hill side so we could feasibly get a crowd of over 4000. Wonder how many away fans are coming now it is free, prior to announcement anly 120 or so, now the figure is up around 500.

No no I just think that those people who work for the football club should either be themselves (like Rob) or should keep their identity well concealed, just in case they accidentally say something they shouldn't or make something appear like vendetta against someone that can then be brought back and blamed on the club.

Someone needs to be less transparant!!!!
