No standing at shrewsbury

Accrington fans going to next weeks game at shrewsbury will be put in the seated area of the main stand. Shrewsbury who are going for the play offs asked accrington if they would only take the seated area for away fans and not the standing section of the station end so to allow an extra 1500 shrewsbury fans into the match. i have been told by somebody living in shrewsbury that the club as a gesture to accrington fans will only be charged at terrace prices, i will try and confirm this later.

Re: No standing at shrewsbury

I don't want to be seated and was looking forward to being able to stand at an away game, as a protest to Eric Whalley for allowing this to happen I will be ripping up my season ticket after the Macclesfield game.

Re: No standing at shrewsbury

This had already been planned for the Shrews' last home game (and possibly last league game at the Gay Meadow) against Grimsby Town a couple of weeks later. That game's sold out so it's now confirmed that Stanley have agreed to give up the away end at their match: http://www.shrewsburytown.premiumtv....,10443,00.html.

I assume that we can pay on the gate. Rob?

Re: No standing at shrewsbury

having already said that I wont go to any away games that involve seating (so as not to heap any shame on the club by standing) I had been looking forward to this one. But I guess I'll have to go seeing as I have already booked my seat ........

Re: No standing at shrewsbury

wonder if they might have some leeway on us standing as we are doing them a favour so they can fit more of their fans in the ground

Could somebody please inform Shrewsbury that is a rare virus sweeping around Accy at this moment in time, affecting the spinal cord, and making it almost impossible to sit down. When consulted, medical experts from across the globe (centre) have said the best thing is prolonged standing, punctuated with large amounts of noise.

I don't blame them, fill the ground and make more cash but it's took the edge off my trip there but I still intend to enjoy myself and just hope the stewards are not little Hitlers.:)

When Peterborough went to Shrewsbury the stewards were very tolerant. Certainly cannot be compared to the Rochdale gestapo:eek:

Re: No standing at shrewsbury

There should be quite an atmosphere at Gay Meadow with balloons and free fanzines. There was an interview on BBC Radio Shropshire about the match this morning. It's on 'Listen Again' at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/netwo...hropshire_wed# and starts at about 1:05:25.

Anyone in Accy who can't get to the match may just be able to pick up a commentary on Radio Shropshire (it's not online) on 96FM.

About 20 members of the newly formed stanley scouser club will be coming.

They will out sing the ultras.

But, as Dan's posted in a separate thread, 2BR is live from the match so you'd be better off sticking with him and Kaz.

Re: No standing at shrewsbury

iTS ALL IN GOOD HUMOUR.

half of the lads coming havent been to a Stanley game before - the rest have been to 3 or 4 and have taken on stanley as a second team - where a core 3 of us have packed in our boring premiership teams and become avid stanley fans, attending nearly all the home games and away at wrexham, rochdale, bury and mansfield.

But dont worry about the 8 or so who havent been to a stanley game before - they all know about and love the ex everton player tony grant.

OOOH AAAH - ITS TONY GRANTONA, OOH AHHH TONY GRANTONA, OOH AHH TONY GRANTONA.

hope it is a sunny day and we can get 3 points to finish the season above chester.

Re: No standing at shrewsbury

From the Hereford forum:-

Meanwhile manager Gary Peters seems to think that Shrewsbury's game with Accrington tomorrow is more important than the one with Hereford. He is looking for massive support for the game.

"If you care about this club then be there, because this is the hardest game we've got," he told the Shropshire Star.

"The others will take care of themselves. We've got local derbies with Wrexham and Hereford.

"This is the one that matters, and everyone who is a Shrewsbury supporter should be bringing someone with them who doesn't usually come to make sure we fill the ground."
Hell - what a build up!
Bigger game than Hereford:)

So you come to Shrewsbury a lot do you, seeing that you know so much about our Stewards. They are fine as long as you behave yourself. Oh, and we have got Welsh supporters, as it happens. And are we quiet? You'll see. If you haven't been thrown out that is.
