There's no need to do calculations.

We need to beat Macclesfield next week and we'll stay up. If we lose, then I can't see any hope.

Was hoping to celebrate our safety on night out tonight, don't think I'll bother, just stay in and sulk instead :(

Apart from the degree of the Silkman's defeat at Rochdale was anyone shocked by today's results? No one is going to roll over and get relegated. The only thing that surprised me was the narrowness of the other wins.

I think Stanley can take encouragement from today's performance.

I for one am not getting the violins out for Steve Evans yet. The bloke is a survivor.

Mind you Haggis, Chester did play almost the entire match today against Boston with only 10 men.

Just got back from the match , was great fighting atmosphere lol The ref but especially the linesman was discraceful. Except from that stanley came out fighting in the first half and got there goal and like everyone knows we got a goal disallowed. But we could of scored a couple of goals that half but the finishing let us down. However i thought we played absolute rubbish in the second half until the last 5 minutes but could of scored but someone hit the bar , i couldnt see because stewards where everywhere. However that would of quietened them shrewsbury fans! However wasnt the bad of a trip and enjoyed most of the game aswell!:D

Re: vs Shrewsbury

I thought Stanley were worth a point today. Shrewsbury had some good attacking play but we still had chances and hit the inside of the post twice. Both times the ball nearly got forced over the line but they somehow manged to clear it. The referee was reasonably bad in the way that he favoured the home side on every decision but the linesman was worse, the basic understanding of the offside rule seemed absent apart from the goal we had disallowed (must have been the other liner).

The biggest issue of the day has to be the safety organisation. We were put into the stand because they wanted to fill their allocation - understandable (I hope we all paid the same), but, there was only a three foot high fence between the two sets of fans and just one steward to keep us apart. There was an incident earlier in the game that resulted in numerous stewards having to intervene, at that point you would have expected a large amount of stewards to have been stationed there permanently to ensure no further incidents. They weren't and consequently there was. At the other side of the away fans was an empty space and whole host of stewards and police. THEY SHOULD HAVE FORMED A LINE BETWEEN THE FANS.

Secondly, as home fans we cannot get to the bar at half time because we were informed that League rules state that the four areas of the ground must be segregated and fenced with no passage between. We accept that and nobody tries to bend the rules. Why then DID AROUND 400 FANS WALK FROM ONE GOAL END TO THE OTHER TO SWAP ENDS AT HALF TIME?

At one point there was a little tension between the fans and people from BOTH ends were gesturing to one another. For the stewards to allow hundreds more people to enter that end was ridiculous and as far as we are told 'illegal'. I would be interested to know the official and Stanley stewards line on what happened today.

For the first time ever I took my kids to an away match. It wont happen again for quite some time.

On a positive note, I walked in the ground five miutes after kick-off and as I walked under the stand I thought I had walked in the home end. The noise levels today were fantastic in the first half. I sat a good few rows down from the lads today and couldn't hear the kids talking to me. It was like being at a 'real' match. Previously I have only ever been amongst the noise so you cant really gauge how loud it is. But today was excellent - well done lads.

Didnt catch much but a snippet of commentry & bbc wap updates, tho in a way thank god i was out after all saved me being totally depressed - well a bit:eek:

Personally i think we really need a win against Macc on sat regardless of their mid week scoreline to ensure a bit more comfort in the league table:rolleyes:

Had a feeling the ref was another banker:rolleyes:

Re: vs Shrewsbury

Macca I'm not 100% certain but I don't think there is a football league rule about segregation. I believe that segregation issues are arranged between the ground safety licencing body, local police and club. Interesting point though.

Re: vs Shrewsbury

Why does it always have to be like this?
"Would the Accrington fans please sit down" boomed the bloke on the tannoy during the second half. No they wouldn't - not while most of the Shrews support in the main stand are on their feet singing "Stand up if you...etc." without any action against them at all. At half time the tannoy guy urges the home fans to swap ends to suck the ball into the Accy net, as Macca says above. I can't see why on earth we had to be pushed up into the far end of the main stand anyway. I know they were trying to ensure a bumper home gate and atmosphere, (and their fans were very good), but even if we had had an end to ourselves there would have been loads of room for plenty more home supporters than actually turned up.
Rant over - I think we have to have free admission again next week please, or we're in danger of going down in a sea of apathy from the Accrington public.

Re: vs Shrewsbury

it would seem after reading the Shrews site that they did it as a gesture for the fans to visit that end one final time before they pull it down. But like I said, in light of the 'banter' between the two sets of fans that were three feet apart, it seemed a bad idea to me. The complaint is in the post anyway. :D

Perhaps Eric could pull a fast one for you lot then, " we wanted the fans to change ends just in case we put a roof on next week and it's different " :D

Re: vs Shrewsbury

Hiya Guys,

Just got back from Shrewsbury and for those guys who listened today I would just like to apologise to your eardrums :) I did not know I was being recorded at the time and I think Huey Lewis is safe for the time being lol.

Anyway, back to the important stuff, we noticed quite a lot in the press area of what Macca was saying. We couldn't believe it ourselves when the fans walked from one end to the other then along the pitch to get to the end that Shrewsbury fans were attacking I was sitting rather close to a certain Mr Schultz who didn't look happy. It was like what used to happen at Stanley when the Clayton Enders moved to the Coppice, it was madness! And is like Macca says I believe illegal in the football league as how do you account for how many people are in that end? But was assured at the end by a press guy from Shrewsbury that that stand is usually where away fans go so may have just been an innocent mistake on their part!

They did ask the Stanley fans to stay in at the end to let the Shrews fans leave, which was kinda good with the hassle you had, you got a few songs in for the lads anyway at the end! lol 'We're all going to your house' to a rather big built male steward! :D

Relatively speaking Shrewsbury were great hosts and even said we were one of the best teams they've seen at Gay Meadow this season and are too good on our performance today to go down.

The game itself I thought was pretty surreal, Stanley looked strong in the first half and going ahead so early seemed to spur them on, Asamoah was great for Shrewsbury and was a potent threat throughout. I hate to say it but their back line looked weak and slow and maybe just maybe we kinda (be prepared for backlash Kazza) maybe missed Mangy's pace!!!

David Brown was great when he came on and from where we were David Brown's double rebound looked to have crossed the line so three times today it concluded that we should have come out of the game 4-2 but hey ho, Stanley don't like to do it the easy way do they!!!

TO GO UP!!! :banjump: PLUS POINTS

We worked out after much faffing and arguing that the soonest we can mathematically stay up is Saturday and that is only if (and some of these may be wrong):

A: Wrexham lose Tuesday night at Shrewsbury
and
B: We beat Macclesfield on Saturday

If that doesn't happen the next time will be again on Saturday if:

A: We win Wrexham lose
B: We win Boston lose
C: We draw and Boston and Wrexham don't draw less than 13-13

WORST CASE (Let's not think about this one too much)

We lose against Macc on Saturday and it goes to last game of season, I would be a nervous wreck doing full match commentary at MK Dons............... But reckon we will know Saturday (fingers crossed anyway)

Personally, I think it will come down to the Wrexham v Boston game as to who goes down!! As as long as one of those won it would mean we were safe as long as we get 1 point!!! Somewhere!!!! PLEASE!!! SOONER RATHER THAN LATER!!! ANYWHERE!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!

Keep the faith!!

I agree with macca thought we was worth at least a point and the way the other results have gone today we need that point , thought there second goal was a hand ball as he ran on to it .Atmosphere created by the stanley fans was excellent today easy out sung there fans.
