Erics plans for the future
Nice big article in the Lancs Telegraph(part 1 of 2) with Eric outling various plans
I quote "he is prepared to provide the necessary resources manager John Coleman seeks to ensure Accrington are not faced with another scrap for survival ............. work on the stadium has begun in earnest with contractors moving in to level off the playing surface ........ it is costing a six-figure sum to level off the pitch .. and around £200,000 will be spent on installing a 1000 seater stand on the Whinney Hill Terrace over the next 12 months ......" Well done Eric and everyody at the club, this is the kind of early pre-season promises we need to hear. Are there any artists impressions we can see online? Next season is gonna be a little more transition I think, but we had two transitionary seasons in the Conference and then wallop! We will be able to see the future by then end of next season. it isn't online yet |
Re: Erics plans for the future
No mention of the Clayton Roo# ?
|
Re: Erics plans for the future
part 2 of 2 still to follow..........
|
Re: Erics plans for the future
Are they putting a sprinkler system in while they level the pitch. Most noticeable thing when I was there last week was how dry the pitch was.

Re: Erics plans for the future
but the roof for the Clayton End has been subject to funding application hasn't it? Providing the funding goes through then that work will be done regardless of whether we build the San Siro on the Whinney Hill Terrace. If funding fails then we would probably never see it. For now I am happy to see what happens in part 2 of Erics interview as to whether any mention is made. It is only about a fortnight ago that he was quoted in one of the papers as saying they want to get the cover up this summer
|
Re: Erics plans for the future
If it is seating on the Whinney Hill side and no roo on the Clayton End will it cost more to sit on the Whinney Hill side than to stand behind the goals ? If it does and the Whinney Hill side is segregated from the Clayton End fans will have no cover at all when it rains.

Re: Erics plans for the future
I think it would look good if the new stand had the word STANLEY spelt out in white letters in the seats, similiar to the ASFC on the other side.
12 months? Personally I don't see it, but at least it shows Eric has ambition. Can we recycle the cow shed roof and put it on the Clayton End so those at the very back dont get wet? :) ON STANLEY ON. |

Re: Erics plans for the future
Good news, but why isn't any of this on the fishy?
Most league teams have all their news stories online no matter how insignificant & we only have something new on if we're flogging summat. |
Re: Erics plans for the future
It's because the club choose to tell the media before they tell Kipax and the others on the fishy site. If you think of it from a club point of view, this is the right way to do things, as the LET and Accy Observer allow many more people, who maybe dont have the internet to see whats going on at the club.
This isnt set in stone. I am only assuming why. |

I assume the companies who advertise on the official site pay for the priveledge. Interesting concept for them to bear in mind when they get a renewal invoice  |
Re: Erics plans for the future
I have edited my post now. I am merely speculating, but thats the reason I would believe for the site delay.

If they give an interview on monday to be released on tuesday - there would be no harm in putting the press release on the website first thing tuesday morning |

I know I'm an outsider but I find it strange that the local papers ( in the case of the Observer it could be a week behind ) are told first then it goes on the club website. To me it's the wrong way round. There are certain situations where the club may want some news to hit the public all at the same time, in which case they may agree with the press to hold the website until the same day, but in general I think the club's official website should be the first source of any news. Thats where the fans want to see it first ( I assume ? ) |

Re: Erics plans for the future
it communes with the other office
there was a whisper a while ago they were looking for a Football In The Community officer so I would assume it will work with him/her, towards establishing better links with the schools and community groups. |

Re: Erics plans for the future
Plans have been drawn up for the Whinney Hill stand and the drawings passed. There will be 990 seats (800 required) and Eric confirmed that a timescale has been set and they are hoping to begin work soon, the new stand will cost £500 000.
Eric has also confirmed that they are expecting to begin work on the Clayton Terrace roof by next season (as soon as they get the go ahead from the county council and as soon as funding is in place). Observer today link not yet available |

Without wishing to sound like a damp squid, I, for one will believe it when I see it! The club has been making the same promises for the best part of 2 seasons now, and each time it didnt come to fruition out trotted all the same excuses, county council, planning, funding ( although we were told last season that the funding was in place ), even though it has been reported in the Observer this eve, Im still taking it wth a rather large pinch of salt :) |
Re: Erics plans for the future
Ilive in Ossy and last week a cabbin like are new state of the art one was on a back alley near Omills, now its not, who did Eric get 2rob it?
