Accy Carnival float

Right we have until tuesday morning to decide if we are doing a float for the carnival.

We have a wagon sorted but it needs confirming or cancelling before tuesday. The original plan was that the OSC were gonna do the stall at the field and The Ultras were gonna do the float. But I haven't been able to get hold of Jase so nobody seems to know whether it will happen or not, and if it is, what is happening.

So we need a contingency, does the Stanley side of Accy web want to run the float. We have a couple of ballpark ideas to play around with but get a few of you together and come up with your own ideas if you wish.

STANLEY HAS TO BE REPRESENTED AT THE CARNIVAL!

You all now have a chance to get involved and parade yourselves in front of Accy as Stanley Supporters.

It will take up your saturday morning on the 16th June, but after that the day is your own. And we will prob have the pub crawl afterwards.

Those who had offered or were planning on being involved with the stall can do both still but I need at least a couple of volunteers with me to help set it up, everybody else can their ugly mugs on all the pictures.

Who is in?

we need some bodies to put on the float and we need somebody to dress the float with whatever and even just wave flags.

we just need to be there in the parade.

Macca... I am more than impressed with your energy however i feel the club should be offering support as well.

It's essential Stanley are on the parade but it needs everybody to move quickly here and that includes the club.

Will the club get Surridge's to donate some give aways Tees/footballs etc after all they are only up the road and the carnival is a community project ?? come on Rob or anybody at the club Get involved this is TOP public relations.

I cant donate the time as i'm unavailable but am more than happy to send up a few boxes of sweets.

Good luck in this great venture.

get the kids on the float!!!!!!!!

Well KSH? its up to you mate. Half a dozen or so there but Jase has said he will put bodies on the float - just haven't been able to get hold of him in the past few days to confirm.

I've got a few people who can set up the OSC stall so I'll man the float as well.

Does that give us enough people?

I'll rope a few in on the day I am sure.

Me and the two little maccas, Squaddy, Red Osbornello, Danny and Harry (you were drunk last night but agreed and signed up nevertheless) and I am sure that we'll collar a good few that week. John Timmins?

Everybody who is coming, could you please (as far as possible) wear your workclothes and a Stanley scarf. I want to show the diversity of the fan base as much as possible. Also Fraser the Eagle is unavailable that day due to the annual migration to sunier climes, but the suit is available to anybody who would like to dress up?

PM me if anybody else is interested and would like to get involved
PM me if anybody is interested in being Fraser for the day. What you doing that day Diesel?

Hi macca, have just spoken to my friend (its Lucy) and she is up for being on the float with me! Yipeee.

Everybody who is coming, could you please (as far as possible) wear your workclothes and a Stanley scarf.

I wouldn't be allowed to wear my work-clothes, I dont think the airline would think it "appropriate" - although I could maybe knock a pretend uniform together - as long as it didnt relate to my company etc etc. Also Lucy is a nurse ;) She said she should be able to wear hers...

You have probably just increased the male element of people volunteering to be on the float now :D

Re: Accy Carnival float

BUMP

And also ......

Jase has finally come up with an idea that he is excited about but won't tell me. The wagon will be in the assembly area from 7am (details to follow) so could as many people as possible start arriving from that moment onwards to help 'dress' the float. If you can't be there that early, please ensure that you have arrived by 9:30am at the latest. Also waiting on confirmation from Zero whether Celtic Cross will be strutting their stuff on the float. If anybody has an excess of red balloons they don't need (or want to buy and donate) could you please post on here.

Bodies definitely required, young or old, male or female - just proud to be from Accrington (or honorary) and willing to display their Stanley affiliation.

This year we won't be doing the chucking out of sweets or balloons etc but we aim to have as good a do as possible, get as many people involved as possible, and gear up for the mother of all floats next time out.

To everybody who has helped us this year thank you very much but can we have one final push?

To everybody who hasn't helped but would like to have done, this is your last chance for this season.

To everybody who hasn't helped, didn't want to help, and has no intention of helping - please give us a loud cheer as we go past you.

Could all those planning on being on the float please, as far as possible, wear your workwear and a Stanley scarf. It is not terribly important but would help towards the overall theme of the float.

Now then, where are all the Ultra lads? :idunno: we need your noise and numbers please

no volunteers at all for the Fraser suit. Not even sure if we could still get it now as I think the usual wearer is now on holiday. Pendle, 9:30 is fine if you wanna come down and join us and the more balloons the better, even if they are not plain. As far as work wear is concerned its not essential just our little bit at trying to prove the cross section of society that watches the Reds.

No thats not us sorry. We couldn't get anything ready in time for this carnival due to other commitments and the fact that more than half of our squad are not around due to holidays and stuff. We already have plans in place for the next one though!!! Just too early in our life cycle to do it this time, we aren't even a year old yet!!!

I however will be manning (? womanning?) the OSC Stall on the field with Uk Cowboy, Harwood Red and Accy Mad amongst others and we will be doing special deals on some of the brand new merchandise, such as buy 1 t-shirt for £8, then buy a second identical t-shirt for £8 aswell, and stuff like that!!!!:D See you all saturday!!!

Your college overalls (with a Stanley scarf) would be exactly right - that's the whole point of what Macca's trying to do !

Best Genny I`ve come across is 800w, thats not big enough we need 1200 min. Weather could be a factor. If its a curtain sider we`ll be OK with light drizzle but serious downpours could risk electrical dampness and I really can`t afford equipment damage.
All being well though we hope to turn out despite the fact it`s a pre 8 in the M word after 2 gigs already including Kings Arms Clitheroe on Fri which will be no laid back affair. Despite being in Hull for a 3hour show on Sat nite, 2 hrs each way, home for about 3.30am Sunday. At least we don`t start til 8pm Sunday night.

Rock `n` Roll ! Hardest game in the world mate.

Could be driving back from Hull like this - :Banane39::Banane39:

Do Bananas really swim in their sleep ?

where can I park my car to get merchandise to the stall?? Also do you need me to bring cash float rob? as I have sorted it just in case you didn't get round to it with all running around :D

maccawozzagod 14-06-2007 19:18

Re: Accy Carnival float

yes, you can bring the float if you like. I had asked AccyJay to sort some but I can unask him if you've got some.

You should be able to park right up close to the field from either Burnley Road or that little side street that goes up to the path to the pub. But nobody I have been able to contact me has said exactly. There are massive bouncy castle type things and ice cream vans etc that seem to get there so I would imagine its a case of seeing a steward when you get there. Sorry, I've tried to be more helpful but can't get anywhere. Will post tomorrow if I find out anymore.

Re: Accy Carnival float

For the people wearing Stanley shirts on the float, what do you think to wearing your oldest shirt so that there is an array of shirts from a broad era rather than all the same shirts from last season.

Just a thought.

Nickelson 15-06-2007 17:38

Re: Accy Carnival float

i cant wait. It will be a long day tho 90mins it takes the float to do the route thats the same length as a match.

Re: Accy Carnival float

:)Idea of wearing older shirts could prove to be a bit of a misconception, I think the idea of most people wearing last seasons shirt presents a more united approach although the theme is diversity so I know where you are coming from. Whichever is chosen one thing is for sure we will all be united in the cause of highlighting Stanley and the Supporters Club to the fair citizens of Accrington:)

Enjoy it people and thank you all very much for your offers of help, or ideas, or your well wishes.

Just remember that we are representing the club and lets be on best behaviour. If you must partake of any alcohol please disguise it in coke bottles or summat (shouldn't say it but I know it'll happen). LETS ALL BE PROUD TO SHOUT OUT IN FRONT OF TEN THOUSAND PEOPLE THAT WE ARE THE STANLEY.

Ryt i will wear a vintage top well it's newish but vintage stlye stanley...

Do you know where the skate park is pendle it is the biggest building in site for there or even the railway station ??

maccawozzagod 15-06-2007 21:02

Re: Accy Carnival float

Ring me when you ar enearby Pendle and I'll direct you in.

But the best way is to go for Abbey St til you hit the Petrol Station, turn right and follow the street down to the bottom and turn right, left, left and then right at the roundabout, left at the roundabout and then you are at the Globe Centre.

Or if you know where the train station is, its a little further up that street.
