He is exactly the sort of player we need and have never replaced.. I would love to see him back and playing for stanley... Did he put in many or any bad performances for us?

Disspointed to read people focusing on his ability to get on with people of which you have NO first hand knowledge. Better to concentrate on what we do know and what we have seen.. and thats what he can do on the pitch..

I would like to see him back but in all honesty I doubt there is a return for him or many other players... He did good for us on the pitch and we where sorry to see him go... thats reality..

To be fair, unless you were to hang around the club all the time, very few people would have 'first hand knowledge' of McEvilly's inability to get on with others.

However, using second/third hand knowledge from people who had experience of him at Burscough, Rochdale, Stanley and now Wrexham, it would appear that there is an issue with the bloke.

I agree that on the pitch he would be a major asset, as long as he stayed fit and played at 100%, which is something he didn't do consistantly at Wrexham.

Like KIPAX said he's just what we need. An aggressive striker who can finish. Too many times last season our forwards were pushed off the ball by the big clogging defenders in teams coming for a draw or scoring earlier then sitting behind the ball.....

There wouldnt be any holding me back I'd sign him straight away.

Going off the pictures by Kipax when Leighton was playin before the injury, he kinda reminded me of Evil buildwise - never saw him play though so you guys would have a better idea on this but I was thinking, wouldnt he be able to do the job Evil did that people say we need, but with less of the alleged off the pitch 'attitude' or is Leighton a completely different player altogether?

Methinks some people on here have short memories with regard to Mr McEvilly, Yes, when he first came to us he was an assett but he degenerated into a totally selfish player who thought he could do it all himself.
Does no-one remember last season at Wrexham when he came on and at first got a good reception from our fans until he bundled both our keeper & the ball into the net at the same time & tried to claim a goal?

I have to say honestly I was dissapointed when Evil left Stanley. If McEvilly is genuinely available and his fitness is not an issue, then I couldn't see the harm in giving him a short term contract. If Evil then proves his fitness and his "attitude" is not a problem, then he can only enhance what we've already got.He has (in his previous stint here) proved that he can finish and is a physicall and aerial threat and would be another option for Coley. After all, we need strength in depth do we not ? :)

What's wrong with that? Keepers should be bundled into nets like Nat Lofthouse used to do!
Can't see our new keeper being bundled anywhere.:D

I think we'll have to agree to disagree about this one Kipax - after all football's all about opinions and everyone's entitled to their own :).

Short memories Accymad? I think not. When Evil was here he was always a genuine threat to the opposition. I think at times he got a bit hacked off with the antics of the prima donna on the left wing, but I don't think he was the only one and I think most people were genuinely sorry when he left. As Redraine says, what's wrong with upsetting the keeper - especially if it makes him think twice about going for the next ball. Along with others, I'd have a fully-fit Evil back tomorrow - he's big, ,he's aggressive and above all, he wants to win!!
