"modular units" are units that are "plugged together" to make one whole unit ... looks like we're buying our "covered modular seating structure" from IKEA :D

lancsdave 23-08-2008 19:20

Re: Whinney Hill Stand

I think modular seating is the type used in temporary stands ie golf stands etc. The seats are fixed on to a tiered frame in samll groups so they can join several sections together, instead of being fixed on to concrete steps like a lot of grounds. If thats the case it may actually be a good idea because it's effectively temporary seating so if the money comes along for a more permanent structure it can easily and cheaply be removed.

So, if the new stand is the designated away fans' area, will the Cowshed Crew be moving to the Coppice End?

I see that the away fans seating at Gillingham is described as being golf tourmament style - be interesting to get a preview on Saturday.

after watching the goals on tv, and seeing the Bristol Rovers goals, the modular stand behind the goals looks ok

the way i read it was "cheap n nasty":D but like davo says who cares, the only matter is that its built.:)

Wynonie Harris 24-08-2008 13:12

Re: Whinney Hill Stand

As long as it's cheap and it meets FL requirements, get it built! It's only for away fans anyway.

On the other hand, we could scour the country for a cheap secondhand stand. I'm sure it wouldn't cost much to transport it back to the FES... ;)

Looks OK to me. I pity the poor sods when it's raining, though. There's nowt worse than sitting on a wet seat and getting soaked (as anybody who has been to Stockport will testify)!

that will do us, and charge £17 per person (away fans)

Can't for the life of me understand why a prudent chap like Eric is wasting money on a roof for 'em. We could be using that money for something useful!

Actually league rules state you can only charge the same price as the equivalent home stand. However some clubs with no morals have found a way round that with membership schemes which give discount to home fans so away fans pay full whack.

Blackpools away stand is a golf stand with no roof and they are charging £26 this season. Bear in mind you lot could be playing them next season and paying £26 for the priveledge

I thought that work was already underway. I heard they have been digging foundations behind the Whinney Hill cow shed ready for the new stand to be installed. As soon as the Bradford game on October 11th is out of the way the cow shed will come down and work will really get going. Don't worry :D be happy :)
