Transfer window
Well, it well and truly opened now. Wayne Curtis has gone on loan from Morecambe to Barrow, Lee McEvilly has signed a permanent deal with Rochdale (just in time to score a few against us), amongst many other movements.
What are the chances of us getting players in before Saturday's game? If we don't have the players lined up already, then it's going to be a hard, hard watch on Saturday. |
Re: Transfer window
Couldn't agree more TM. Striking options worry me now that Clarke has returned to Rovers that leaves us with Paul Mullin and Andrew Smith. One can only hope that we either a. get a new striker by tomorrow or b. the above two options play out of their skin. Lets hope Gornell and Griffiths return till the end of the season, but my biggest worry is the goalkeeping department. To me Bav's looks nervous everytime the ball gets anywhere near him. Yes he has made some good saves, but the howler against Grimsby makes my point.I know Kenny is not yet ready (heres hoping for a speedy return) but is Jamie ready to be thrown into the spotlight of league football?
Lets hope for a postponement at the least or a very wishful away win. Happy New Year to all supporters and players and staff of Accrington Stanley, here's hoping for a better 2nd half of the season. |

Re: Transfer window
I'd be surprised if Terry Gornell was back for tomorrow's match. Tranmere need cover for a couple of injured strikers and Terry himself missed Sunday's game against Walsall through injury, after starting at Edgar Street on Boxing Day.
Meanwhile, Godwin Antwi has returned to Liverpool after his loan at Tranmere... |
Re: Transfer window
we should try and get antwi and aswad back they were good players, i hope we do get griffiths and gornell back on loan! bit bad about clarke going back ok he didnt score many goals but he was a proven striker who could last the full 90mins!
|
Re: Transfer window
it would be great to get gornell back but if not surely there is a decent striker out there, with money tight at accy apart from loans who could we get ?.unfortunately decent strikers cost money, but without a proven striker to feed of mully where are the goals going to come from.i know clarke got a hat trick but he's not consistent enough and missed a lot of scoring chances that came his way, chances will be in sort supply at rochdale but you never know with football and maybe we are due a bit of luck at spotland.so come on accy lets give them a bloody nose i their own back yard.
ACCY TILL I DIE.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D |

With regards to Aswad Thomas, I thought he was largely disappointing for the majority of his time here. No ta for me! I'd like to see David Worrall back here, along with Gornell (permanently), Griffiths and Charnock. edit - just read that we have Charnock until the end of the season. Good stuff! |
Re: Transfer window
I think we should enquire for Danny Carlton from Carlisle.
two reasons; a) he's half decent and could do a job for us - but maybe a little too similar to John Miles? b) it would annoy our Crusty Park 'mates' no end as they were mostly all hoping to sign him - til the embargo spoilt that idea. Their board has confirmed he will be going back to Carlisle when his deal expires on the 11th January. I quote ' it will be a blow to the fans' |
Re: Transfer window
why should rovers allow any of our players back to this club especially with such disrespectful "fans"...id give it the big :thefinger.....
and in no way way am i calling the club...just the so called "fans"...:D |
Re: Transfer window
Just accept it. Clarke was a flop and Griffiths was a hit, end of story.
It's how it goes sometimes, now grow up! |

"Newby signed for Scottish First Division side Greenock Morton in July 2008,[7] before going on to score a double that evening in a friendly match against Threave Rovers. He scored on his competitive debut, a 1–1 draw at Broadwood against Clyde[8] Newby was loaned to Nigel Clough's Burton Albion, as he was travelling up to Greenock from his home in England, just before the 1 September transfer window deadline.[9][10] Clough confirmed after the win over York City that Newby's loan would not be extended past mid-January 2009.[11]" |
Re: Transfer window
Hope Newby isn't destined for us. He's not the answer to our striking problems.

New signings hinted at for Darlo game but they are not Clarke and Griffiths. More worrying is the concern over a recurring injury to John Mullin |

One of them's probably David Brown, released from Barrow.

Re: Transfer window
Just been thinking? Bearing in mind that the Darlington game was called off on the day,and up until then there had not been any news of any new signings/loans:( it would have been a pretty thin bench on Saturday with Charnock suspended! We might have seen two Bell's on the bench:eek: But all joking aside I know that 1 or 2 of you out there are very close to the club and have an ear to the ground, what is there - if anything - lined up for Bradford and beyond:confused::confused::confused:

Re: Transfer window
from jimmy bells colloum in the LET
"i think the Kaka deal would have been sorted sooner than our attempts to sign Rostyn Griffiths from blackburn rovers. its been really frustrating to tell the truth. Rostyn wants to come and we want him but its become really messy. we thought ut would be quite straight foward to sign him when the transfer window opened but 21 days later and blackburn are still hanging onto him. our chairman has given the green light for john to try and bring players in and the fans should know that we are certainly trying. we've put a bid in for a unibond first division player but its been knocked back plus we'v made enquires for three of four more players. the possibilty of bringing back jamie clarke looks to have been killed now, but john is outting thing together to make an offer for gregg blundel...." "as interest from other clubs in andy procter we want to build our team not dismantle it. he has come a long way with us and hes a good player. he is very ambitous, though johns policy is always that we wouldnt stand in anyones way if they got a chance to move to a league aboue or something like that. he always tells the player as soon as threres been an offer rochadale were interested in him as they were with paul mullin a couple of months ago but they always make enquiries about six players at a time. a lot of the time they dont eve want thrm and it really unsettles players by doingd things that way " |
