Damn! That's what comes of switching off before the final whistle. Still think Grimsby or Chester will take the other relegation spot.

John Coleman reckons the ref should have waited longer before calling off last night's game. I can't see how he sees it like that if you have standing water in a main area of the pitch and the ball doesn't roll or bounce. From a safety, and even, entertainment point of view I think the ref got it right with less thsn an hour to go before kick off.

Good to see the club speak as one voice on the matter. Rob Heys said the referee waited as long as possible and made the correct decision

Got to say, having been there - the rain was relentless and it wasn't just the penalty area that was affected, it was from the centre circle to the coppice end. Like a river flowing down the ground. 3 people were working on the pitch whilst the ref was inspecting it and to no avail. NO one can moan that they weren't trying or that they were amateurs, they worked their butts off trying to get the match on. Port Vale players actually wanted to play, but the ref said no. Trouble was, after everyone left the area, it stopped raining - typical.
