£30000 windfall for accrington

Birmingham city immediate return to the premier league means they will not collect their second parachute payment from the premier league instead the £11.2m is paid to the teams they are leaving behind with championship teams receiving £400,000 each and smaller pay outs for league one clubs who get £50,000 each and league two clubs getting £30,000 each.

So, if Reading go up via play-offs, do we get more?????

As I said in another thread, lets support Reading through to the Play off final and hope they win. We'll have enough to buy Keiran Charnock from Peterborough without having to tax Liz too much with the 50/50 draw

:mosher:

I know Birmingham don't get the second parachute payment, but I didn't know it was spread out amongst the football league teams including leagues one and two. If true, it will be very nice for the club. Perhaps on the FA or FL websites? Maybe someone will link it soon

Just had a quick scout around, but cannot find anything. Maybe it's just common knowledge as it will have happened before....

I suppose people who support Sheffield Wednesday and Accrington Stanley now have two more reasons to be happy that it was Birmingham who clinched the second automatic promotion spot as opposed to another team whose parachute payments would have lapsed at the end of this season.

Been told today by some chap at work, that if Reading go back up that there will not be any more payments made :confused: Something to do with the length of time that Reading/Birmingham have spent in the Premiership?? I have tried to find out more but cannot, I am thinking of buying The Sun to find out more...:rolleyes:;) Only joking :) If anybody can find out anymore could they please post any links on this thread - cheers :):)

This might help ;

The main payment from the Premier League, which restores after a 15-year absence some sharing between the top flight and the rest, will be £11.2m per season. That, divided among all the Football League's clubs, is the same as the Premier League's three relegated clubs will each receive as a "parachute payment". If one of those clubs is promoted straight back up, the £11.2m it would have had as a parachute payment for the following season will now also be shared among the Football League's other clubs. If two clubs bounce back, the Premier League will keep the other spare parachute payment. Only if all three clubs bounce back, which has never happened, will the Football League share two of the following season's spare parachute payments.

Surely unnecessary. There have been some brilliant marketing ideas on this message board. All it needs is someone at the club with foresight and determination who can adopt the excellent (and often very straightforward) ideas and put them into practice.
