Re: Burnley up-Good or bad for Stanley?
Posted via Mobile Device. Think we have more pressing things to sort like the club ownership, i do have not good vibes with stanley atm, think they could do with a trip to our newly promoted prem neighbour & get some serious lessons on how to run a proffessional football club & excellent club - fans relations! A more important need than worryin about floaters, cos even tho we may get some we're no good at maintaining it for them to come back regularly, just my opinion.

Good fan relations? Maybe you should consulte the Burnley fans who queued for hours to get their tickets, only to be given a raffle ticket to come back the next day? ;)
Comparing Stanley to a professional club is meaningless. You might as well compare them to Chelsea and then start moaning when they fall short! |

The one advantage to Stanley fans who can't get to games is that you may get more 'live' coverage. Not only will Burnley games be less of a clash but I doubt 2BR will be allowed the same coverage rights as they have had.

Re: Burnley up-Good or bad for Stanley?
i've mulled this over and now believe that Burnley joining the top flight is a positive, loads of players will be kicked out and will look for a club near at hand. Burnley will waste a mint of money on Carlos Kickabout footballers who can thread a ball through the eye of a needle and before you can say the ink is dry on the contract they see so much of the physio that a gay relationship starts!

Re: Burnley up-Good or bad for Stanley?
After talking to a Burnley fan at work, we did agree that some positives may come out of their promotion to the Moneybags league...
1) As others have said, a good deal of their home games are likely to be at times other than the traditional 3PM Saturday K.O. Maybe the odd Claret with nowt better to do on one of these such Sats will be tempted to stray down to the F.E.S. Also tie in with that as others have said, when Burnley come up against a side with european commitments they won't play on a Saturday. Add to that International Breaks when the Premier League never play, there's the potential for quite a few Saturdays when these folk may be tempted to come along and take in a STANLEY game. 2) Burnley will presumably be entering a reserve side in the "premier league reserve division" and the "premier league youth leagues".As said before, maybe increased revenue from Burnley for allowing them to use the F.E.S. All this does tie in with the fact that, as said before, what STANLEY put on offer has to be attractive enough to tempt these folk along.Which brings me on to my final thought.....and I know the concept may not be popular with some....but here goes...... If, taking into account that,as Pendle Red has mentioned earlier in this thread ROVERS have lowered THEIR season tickets in an attempt to tempt more fans to Ewood, and BURNLEY have 7000 folk who will be getting a FREE season ticket at Turf moor next season,it makes perfect sense to offer an incentive to offer these folk on producing their respective season tickets a reduced entry fee to take in a game at the F.E.S. next season.Without knowing pay on the gate charges for next season, Maybe charge them in the region of £6- £8 for reduced entry????? Maybe one for the commercial dept. to consider, but I, like Pendle Red pointed out earlier, would have thought the potential to put an extra couple of hundred on the gate would at least be worthy of a little contemplation...... Your thoughts please one and all:D |

Oh oh, the money vultures are circling already :D I heard the gate receipts from the pre-season are the fee for the use of the ground, so you may get some increase, presuming there is one this year. |
Re: Burnley up-Good or bad for Stanley?
It has to be bad for you guys as anyone who might have thought of coming to The FES will go to Turf Moor instead.
