Just throwing my threepenny bit in to the mix, I quite enjoyed the music yesterday (Lincoln game). I heard the 50/50 draw number as well (wish I hadn't as I was only one number out). But on the subject of music to walk out to, if the music is to the 'Omen' and we keep winning, then I say it should stay. But I do agree with others - Pete for god sake please get on to Dave/Marcelle to sort out the quality issue with the sound system.

I was on yesterday and I have to say the sound wasnt as bad as I thought it might be.......well nowhere near as loud as I was expecting it :)

The problem you have is more likely to be the speakers. They are ok for 'vocal frequencies' but cant handle the frequencies produced by 'music'.........its kind of like playing your cd's down the old 'cup and string' setup...........all you would hear is the 'top end', no middle or bass as the 'string' cant pick up on them. Our speakers look like they have 'Piezo' (sp) horn's only which most definatley be unable to handle anything below 'treble' with any real efficiancy. To upgrade them would cost an absolute fortune.............I will, however pop up and see Rob/Don/Marcelle this week when I collect my season ticket to see if I can be of help................just dont shoot the messenger tho guys!!

Remind them again about the 'speaker' at the Clayton End which hasn't worked for months Pete. I'm not bothered about the music, but I can't hear the 50/50 result. ;)

It wasn't as bad yesterday, still a bit loud IMO though ... it should be background music, not attention grabbing, turn it up for announcements.

Were there any announcements yesterday ? As far as I know I'm not deaf and didn't hear a thing at the Clayton corner . Though I did hear somebody on a kazoo!!??

I think the main reason for such contrasting views here is that the clayton end speakers are not working correctly(if at all) meaning anyone towards that area of the ground wont have a problem with it being too loud - the issue of those of us who watch from the main stand is that the music is so loud you have to raise your voice to speak to someone speakign next to you

I think you always secretly agree with me Cashy, but you don't want others to know about it! :D

I am impressed by this posting Cowboy !!...Succinct, if a bit baffling (no Pun intended!)....

I have a theory that persuades me that the positioning of the Speakers (and their Pizza ,,,ooops 'Piezo'(sp) Horns, just under the edge of the roof forces the sound into what must be an environment which not only amplifies the sounds..( Both Vocal and Music !)..but also increases the reverberation levels emanating from these sub-standard speakers, which as you point out, are probably not the type which would prove ideal for the task!.

The resultant sounds appear to be bouncing and echoing around at an alarming rate, which results in a degree of distortion which my ears find difficult to resolve !!.

If you have the ear of those who might improve this element of the entertainment at 'The Crown',,,then do whisper our concerns into it..!!.

However, I do agree with you that the cost of improving the situation would be somewhat prohibitive...and with the Club's more pressing outgoings in mind....I for one will continue to tolerate these shortcomings!!!...

Which, as Alfred.E. quite correctly points out, makes this posting totally redundant !!!!.......SORRY !.

An extremely good theory, and one that I would have to concur with! The best solution,IMHO, would be to move the current speakers to the front of the stand and turn them towards the crowd, therefore eliminating the 'natural over-reverberation',whilst also cutting down on the 'bounce-back' effect of the surrounding structure. I would imagine that the 'volume' problem would be somewhat reduced as a result. This would most certainly be the most financially viable option should the club wish to make changes................So,no Yonmon, your post is not a pointless one!:D

Cowboy !....Have you noticed that practically everyone on our Forum is going to great lengths to agree (or 'Concur' as we more erudite 'postees' would put it !)..with every opinion and argument, however humble, that others are putting forward ??.
Do you think that this might be an additional element of 'positive fall-out' from the new climate of optimism and good-will which is pervading the Club at the present moment ?..(Which might seduce us all even more if 'The Reds'
put one over Northampton tonight!).

If this is the case...then my Red Colored Spectacles really are redundant !.

(Alfred.E. is muttering something about 'one swallow not making a summer'
...I shall take another tablet and ignore him !!)..

It is a rather unique situation Yonmon, why, even TM is jumping on the 'happy waggon'!.............:D

This evenings fare, however, may well have brought us all down to earth again, but as your good friend Alfred.E. has said "one swallow does not make a summer"............( Im sure I used that quote around the same time last season, but for the opposite reasons!)........So dont ignore Him too much!

I digress, back to thread...........is it just Me or did anyone else notice the improvement in the sound system this eve? I thought it was clear, non 'reverby',and at a reasonable volume...........also thought that the 'music' was played down a little this eve. If I didnt know better I would suggest that someone at the Club has been reading this thread.........but we all know that wouldnt happen, would it? :D:):D

Now,where did I put my tinted Specs?..............................
