wristbands

a potential way of raising some money would be purchasing a wristband (SAVE ACCY STANLEY) I've just looked into costs though and it would cost us £555 + vat (+ £70 for 7 day delivery rather than 28 day) for 3000 or 24p each if you prefer. They'd sell for a minimum of a £1 though and we could perhaps sell them to retailers in the town at that price and allow them to sell at £1.50. Could be a decent hit?

Margaret Pilkington 03-09-2009 11:52

Re: wristbands

I think that many people would buy these....even those who do not go to matches.
A good idea!

Re: wristbands

I'm not a Stanley fan (sorry, not a football supporter) but would buy a couple of these. Think that they are an excellent way of raising money for the club. You could even put them on ebay at say £1.50 or £2 each inc p&p with all proceeds going to the club, am sure they would sell a few on there aswell.

That ones lost on me. People can buy them anywhere for a £1 except for the shops in Accrington who will need to buy them to resell at £1.50

Re: wristbands

i was thinking out loud Dave and didn't use grammar reet.

We'd have to set a price of x but anyone wanting to buy say 25 would get them cheaper. They could donate any profit back if they wanted or its theirs for their trouble.

We would sell far more if we could get them on every counter in town.

Margaret Pilkington 03-09-2009 14:50

Re: wristbands

If you are going to embark upon this, then you need to spread the wares as far as possible....have them available in pubs, local paper shops, post offices......the more accessible they are, the more people will buy them.....please don't limit them to the Accrington Stanley shop.....many people who have little interest in football, but who would buy these to ensure ASFC doesn't go under, would not go to the shop to buy them, but would buy them from their local paper shop/post office/pub.

I have no interest in football, but would buy some of these as a sign of solidarity.

But we 'wrinklies' MUST stick together LLS !! and take some sort of a lead...so join me in saying to Macca 'What a great idea....so go for it!'. I'll have 20 (10 for each wrist!!)...Alfred.E. will take five!!..don't know where HE will wear 'em though!, but then he's not worried !.

Re: wristbands

rightio

DAny at the Observer contacted me within minutes of the thread going live and will publicise through the paper (next week)

Dan at 2BR contacted me within minutes of the thread going live and I have done a quick appeal for sponsorship - that will be going out all day tomorrow.

thanks guys it means a lot.

As far as turn around goes the quickest I can get them is 7 days by paying an extra seventy quid.

Without the means to pay for it the last resort will be the OSC meeting on monday night (or it could be the week after - I'll check). I'll see what transpires when the appeal for sponsorship goes out but in the meantime I will contact enough regular attendees of the meetings to push through a 'vote' on whether to pay for it ourselves should money not be forthcoming. IT WILL HAPPEN.

So hopefully I can order them on monday at the latest and have them the week after.

WHAT I NEED FROM YOU GUYS - Could anyobdy who will be able to spare me the following saturday morning please volunteer their services. I will knock up some leaflets outlining the proposal and I need folk to visit EVERY shop in and around Accy town centre to ask if they will buy a small quantity to put on their counter. There are more than 200 counters in Accy town centre and if they all buy 10 we are on a winner. If enough people come forward then it will take no more than an hour - but if only one comes forward it will take days.

If you can't do that then please approach your papershop, butcher, hairdresser, publican, etc etc and ask them - IT'S NOT JUST THE TOWN CENTRE

let's all get on this and try to sell the 3000 before we even get them!

K.S.H 03-09-2009 16:33

Re: wristbands

Cracking idea Rob,
Just a thought - would it not be better if you just give each shop 20 or 30 then collect the money the week after, that way the shop doesn't need to buy them, you might get more shops to put them on the counter if they haven't to pay up front for something they might not sell "they should but think how the shop keeper might think about it)
10 might be OK for your shops out the way like up Warner St for example, 10 should sell in mins in the shops on Broadway Etc, so how many will they need to take?? 50? 100? thats my point, will they cough up £50 or £100

maccawozzagod 03-09-2009 17:30

Re: wristbands

i get the thought Ken but I'm also thinking practically and we want the money now!

the other thought is that I don't want to have to go around the shops every other day to collect money etc but it is easier to leave my number and they can ring me to replenish stock on a daily basis if necessary (I'm only around the corner).

dabeast 03-09-2009 17:33

Re: wristbands

macca, ultras - whoever can make this work....

....the biggest opportunity would be to get them on the turnstiles at away games for the opposition fans to show their support. At only a quid a pop they are all footy fans at heart and we reach 2 maybe 3 thousand new fans every other week.

Worth a try??

maccawozzagod 03-09-2009 17:36

Re: wristbands

yes - owts worth a try

the only drawback is the initial input. Its gonna cost 700 quid for 3000. We could get them cheaper (individually) if we buy lots more but then there is a higher initial cost. 3000 would hopefully be about right for the local market. But I wish I could confidently order 10000!

or maybe give the shop a certain amount and have a ' save accy stanley' box next to them so they can put the money straight into the box, and if anyone wants to put any extra coins in they can do?

Sounds good maccab I think if you gave each shop a (box?) of 10 and then collected any money a week later and then gave a number to contact you if any other money was collected. Could you put them in Tesco Asda and Spar as lots of people go in those shops everyday as well as corner shops?

I'll contact as many outlets as possible.

thanks also to the 2 offers of loans received via PM from this thread to get the ball rolling. It means that I can get the ball rolling tomorrow and worry about the actual payment and who foots the bill next week.

... but this is where we all come in as I couldn't possibly get around all the suburban minimarts - garages - shops etc so we all need to ask the places where we go in frequently if they will partake.

HELP needed to blitz the centre, HELP needed to deliver around the outlets further afield .

And also if anybody knows of a company that could perhaps knock up some sort of display box for nowt ... even next to nowt ...

I think the wristbands are a great idea. We use them for the charity and sell them for £1 each or £1.50 online and we make a little bit on p n p

We hand them out to outlets to sell on our behalf too, they dont buy them they just kind of collect for us, and we always make more thn the stock provided.

They are a big hit with kids too so I dont think you would have probs shifting them .

Also if it goes ahead put me down for a few . Good luck with it macca

Shame theres not enought cash in the pot to arrange a fun day t the grounds im sure it would be a hit.

Good luck to the club and and i sincerely hope they can pull through this..

heres a link to a merchandise shop that may be of use too. they do wristbands nd will prob do a deal if enough are ordered.

If we sell these at a home game, can we limit them to two or three for each customer for a time? I know it sounds counterproductive as the aim is to make as much money as quickly as possible but it'd be a shame for people to miss out.

£1.50 a time.

I won't limit them to be honest because they have to go and they have to go quickly. It was a shame we missed the Darlo match because we could/should have sold half of them there and then.

But 5000 is a lot to shift in a short space of time and I don't want to be traipsing around town all day trying to move them via shops. So please buy 50 each!

They give the usual import/export bull* about being stopped by customs, that's why they didn't arrive Monday, said they would be here Thu/Fri but haven't turned up, suppose there's a chance for a Sat delivery.

HR you have a text!

order should have been last friday - was going to be one working day late as the Chinese were a day behind with their orders

order should have been monday (one working day late) but the shipment it was on was impounded by the Chinese due to customs rubbish.

order should have been here yesterday but is now an extra day late because the DHL van it was on broke down!!!!!!

So the good news is that the order is in the country, is at the DHL depot in Manchester and will be with us on monday GUARANTEED.

so, the wristbands should be here in the morning. I'll start distributing as soon as possible. I will be out and about monday night asking around the pubs - does anybody want to hand some around their areas for me? Many hands make light work and all that?

Also i'll be selling them on friday night around the ground, same again - If there are only a handful of people we risk missing people out but if I have a few teams of two we stand a better chance of selling a lot. We should have practically sold out at the Darlo game with all the extras and striking while the iron was hot - so we've a LOT of catching up to do!

so, the wristbands should be here in the morning.

Can't do a lot this week Rob as I'm working nights (till Thu) will give you a hand Fri night, let me know what time.
I'll try and get some round Ossy for you over the weekend if you haven't already covered it by then

Re: wristbands

yay

turned up at quarter to bloody five!

I'll be out and about distributing these where I can tonight. If anybody wants to take a bundle to pass around at work etc then please let me know via PM in the next hour or two. Odd ones and twos you can collect from various sources from tomorrow onwards. Anybody distributing to shops/pubs etc needs to post the details on here WHEN YOU HAVE GOT THEM TO WHERE EVER so that a) they get the advertising they deserve b) so that everybody knows where to get one from and c) so that other people don't waste their time visiting

happy selling peeps!

ps I'll post a picture later

I'm guessing you have been sorting out most of that distribution list, there seems to be a lot of pubs on it :D
