Tonight
Well done Stanley, great result. Keep up the good work!!!
|
Re: Tonight
Oh dear, is this the standard of refereeing we have to suffer this season. I`m no expert but I think Rochdales No 5 deserved a straight red card. I would also have thought their manager would have substituted the No 5 for his own safety as he was going to play no further useful part in the match.
|
Re: Tonight
Yeah, but it was a "friendly", with only a couple of minutes to go! Can't blame the "officials" for bottling out. Funny to see them all in centre circle until we'd all gone. What did they think we'd do, other than boo them off?
|
Re: Tonight
Got to say, even tho' I was at other end, I thought we seemed to defend so much better than I've seen for ages! Who was our no. 17, thought he showed some good touches, plenty of promise & commitment
|
Re: Tonight
rochdales number 5 had his lip bust open he was in the physio room after the game.
I asked the physio how it happened and she sed his lip was split open, it either came from punch, elbow or a head butt........ deffinite red though he must have hit smiffy 3 times |
Re: Tonight
And when Smiffy like a MAN after the game went to him to calm it down, he still did not calm down!!!!!
Well done Smiffy in being a man...... And the rest of the boys for playing very well for most of the game:):) No17 did look exciting and promising :) And for the second game in a row with lots of different players, Defended like a rock :) |
Re: Tonight
Unfortunately, couldn't make the match last night. Would anybody be so kind as to tell us a bit more about the team's performance? Who shone in the defence? How did Mr Evil, Craney and Lutel do? What was O'Neill like?
Questions, questions, questions... |
Re: Tonight
Nobody shone in defence, actually Steve Halford headed the ball into his own net after one minute but, luckily, a Rochdale player was offside from the original cross. It was the usual desperate defending - every man for himself with nobody organising the defence. Mr. Evil was not as good as he was on Saturday and only played the first half. Craney and Lutel did not play at all. O'Neill came on in the second half nothing too impressive but scored a tap in. Overall it was not as impressive or confidence building as Saturday, but we only had what I would term as a mostly second string team out with a few trialists.

Re: Tonight
I was at the attacking end all game so can not comment too closely on our defence, but they looked solid and able to soak up the pressure:) Hacker stood out for me.
Lee evil looked really keen again, but was replaced in the second half:( Cooky had a couple of really cheeky shots in the second half, he tried a Beckham from half way and was bang on target, which needed a fantastic save to keep it out of the net :( To be truthful the first half was there's and the second half ours but we made it count and sent them home sad:( lutel, rory or craney did not play. |
Re: Tonight
That was NO tap in JEFF.....
|
Re: Tonight
Well the first half was a bit of a non starter really. Saying that though hacker scored an og but liner already had his flag up for off side, we had a couple of chances, evil was awsome i thought yet again, craney, lutel, rory, carvill were rested. Ian hughes in defence had another good game even though i didn't see the first one think he would be a good signing. flickers had a good half, as did howarth. Jagielka looks like a good signing. Tought reg (Hollis) was poor at lest back. Danny Allcock look steady but saying that in the 2 games he has played he has had hardly anything to do. The left winger that was on for the second looks like he's werth another look as does the left back who played along with ed o'neil on the right. Second half was yet again controlled by us even though they did have a couple of chances. Mullin and Damo did well when they came on as did brano. two quality goals first one by o'neil was a really neat finish just dinking it over the keeper after mully picked the ball some good foot work and played him in. Second was from hacker of a corner great finish at the near post. Good display by the boys overall. Also there number 5 was an absolute disgrase how he was not sent off i will never no and for there manager to leave him on well what can i say.

Re: Tonight
Huge Positives
Jaggers - now he can take a free kick & will provide a real option on the right next season Evil - quality & will frighten many this season. Odds for conference top goalscorer? Cav - fantastic Halford - Played very well & scored at the right end Most others where good to average but the main plus was we beat a Div 3 team 2-0, kept a clean sheet, played two mainly reserve teams & it didn't rain! :engsmil:  |
Re: Tonight
Can we not report the number 5 to the F.A.???
Absolute disgrace.......... |
Re: Tonight
he was headbutted and so reacted.
|
Re: Tonight
He wasnt headbutted he got caught with Jonathon Smith's arm......
Who was he anyway......sore loser and complete idiot. |
Re: Tonight
Jack the ripper REACTED to his hatred to women ........
He was a discrace in his REACTING.... |
Re: Tonight
Thanks very much for all the info, lads. Overall, sounds very encouraging indeed.
|
Re: Tonight
ou're comparing a punch as a reaction to a headbutt to Jack the Ripper?? Of course there has been no uproar about the original headbutt on here.
|
Re: Tonight
Last night's match was played in good spirits by players & fans alike until the last few minutes which spoilt the whole thing - the Rochdale player was a disgrace & although no-one wants to see anyone sent off in a friendly match, I agree that their manager should have taken him off. He was not headbutted as some Dale fans are claiming, maybe he was caught accidentally by Smithy but is that an excuse for kicking him while he was on the floor?
|
Re: Tonight
Bit over the top I agree Dalefan but he upset us....... Long before the incident with Johny Smith he was winding us up:( he is a dirty player from what I saw... And Johnny Smith is NO "headbutter". He is a nice bloke and fair.... BIG and Strong yes, but not vicious !!
Your No 5 Neald I think Showed a nasty side last night mate, but the rest of the team and your fans where Top men+women :) |
Re: Tonight
Gregg Heald ...... not Neald.....sorry
|
Re: Tonight
Head butt? What a coward he is making things up to deflect the blame when he realised what he had done & the crowd reaction. I watched the whole incident so much that I missed the goal! Head butt?
Ha?!! |
Re: Tonight
Nice to know one thing hasn't changed from last season. Fans of beaten league clubs coming on here, trying to deflect attention away from the result!
|
Re: Tonight
So because you didn't see it it didn't happen? I watched Greg Heald a lot last season and he is NOT a dirty player he overreacted but i dooubt very very much it was without provocation. Parkin didn't take him off because the ref told him there was no need because the match was almost over. Oh and Heald didn't make it up it was the Dale fans who made the claim to our knowledge. Apart from this thanks for a good trip out and good luck next season , hope Evil bangs a few in for you
|
Re: Tonight
'Nice to know one thing hasn't changed from last season. Fans of beaten league clubs coming on here, trying to deflect attention away from the result!'
Well done on your well deserved victory. However, i was not 'trying to deflect attention away from the result!' i was trying to show that it was not just Heald in the wrong. Oh and how can an own goal be offside. :idunno: :wink8: |
Re: Tonight
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned ex-Barrow goldenboy Grant Holt playing for 'Dale last night. :D
|
Re: Tonight
Hi I'm a dale fan just came to see what you all thought of last night...we were poor although alot of our team was young lads and we hardly knew any of them!
And yes your player did headbutt Heald i know a dale player and i was asking him about it but he shouldnt have reacted the way he did and should really have been taken off. Apart from that- good night with some nice looking accy players for us girls!!! Nice to see evil settled in too think we'll miss him at dale! |
Re: Tonight
Sazzy i saw you last night in all your minute glory!
|
Re: Tonight
You saw me?! Who are you???
|
Re: Tonight
Oh you don't know me but somehow i know you anyway i didn't say hello as i thought you might think it was weird having a strange person talking to you. Also i thought you might jump up and head butt me in the groin :wink8:
|
Re: Tonight
Dale fans...
Do either of you know the parent of the little girl who wet on the pitch with stan the monkey? got a couple of good pics that i didnt put on the web with the rest |
Re: Tonight
lol! Where did you see me? I'm confused how you know me!!!
|
Re: Tonight
No kipax i don't sorry. Well i don't know you sazzy i just know what you look like somehow if this makes any sense
|
Re: Tonight
To play devils advocate a little, I noticed that before the corner that led to our second goal Dale`s keeper was being jostled and had his toes danced upon once or twice. It`s not big and it`s not clever and considering the reputation we picked up last season it`s not acceptable. Lets beat teams on skill and not some Euro 2004 fancy dan antics, I mean we are good enough. :engsmil:
|
Re: Tonight
Dalefan, according to all the reports I have seen, the own goal Hacker scored would not have counted, because the assistant referee had already flagged Dale players offside, so the goal could not have counted. Hope this clears up the misunderstanding.
|
Re: Tonight
Surely if the ref sees that the rochdale player did not get the ball then he was not interfering? The ref could have overruled his liner
|
Re: Tonight
Well he is interfering if Hacker was cutting out the cross before it got to the 'Dale player, this is how he can be flagged offside and therefore the goal not counted. Simple really...
|
Re: Tonight
Fellas, don't get too excited about beating 'Dale.
We beat Wolves 5-1 last season and had a crap campaign. Pre-season results count for nothing, and though it's always nice to win....get it in perspective. Looking forward to our first meet at The Pie on the Tuesday. Who do you guys think will win league? ( besides either you or us of course) Majority seem to think that Carlisle will have too much.................but funnier things have happened. |
Re: Tonight
Quote:
Why not.. theres little else... we have been starved of football for months.. we get to play and win... surely we can be happy :) Quote:
I dont think anyone is thinking we beat a rochdale slung together side so we must be fantastic... half our first choice players wernt even playing and I know some of the rochdale ones where trialists. Quote:
Quote:
I am glad you said beside either of us cus I doubt either of us will... It will be a fantastic achievement if we make the playoffs.. such a big upheavel the last few weeks.... the team that runs out for our first game will hardly know each other... geeze we dont even own a goalie yet ... surely it will take time to gell the team together.... Quote:
Lots of teams drop down and dnt set the place on fire... But carlisle are a little different in that they wheer sort of on the up as they came down..as daft as that sounds... Carlisle are bound to be up there.. looking at top two i would say.. as for us I would be more than happy if we sneak into the playoffs :) |
Re: Tonight
Quote:
isnt the rule from when the ball is played............ |
Re: Tonight
There have been plenty of goals scored were despite there being players in offside positions the goal has been allowed because they were not interfering.
Anyway it doesn't matter! |
Re: Tonight
it was only a friendly......
the new interpretation of the offside rule is crap anyway, some referees look as though they dont understand it |
