A Star in the making ???.....

'ON STANLEY!!....ON!!!'

He's certainly one of the more promising loanees I've seen on the Crown in recent times; reminiscent of a young scouse defender from Wigan almost! No, not Kevin Lee. All of our defenders played well last night, but I do wonder when Leam Richardson will be match fit. Dean Winnard is so clearly uncomfortable in that left back position and it's unsettling his game. In the second half he made a fantastic interception and a bursting run forward which showed off his quality, but left back just isn't his position. Dean's obvious talents as a defender shouldn't immediately warrant his square frame being shoved into a round hole, in my opinion. I know there's reluctance to alter a winning side though.

I'm certainly impressed with how the team are all pulling in the right direction despite the troubles. Well done Reds. I really hope we batter the Bulls. As yonmon so succinctly epitomises our fighting spirit: On Stanley On :)

Always pressing forward. I like that back line of Lees, Edwards, Kempson, Winnard - has the makings of a solid back four.
Also thought Symes played well holding up the ball and bringing other players into play. He had a great chance in the second half and he really deserved a goal but he seemed too eager and blasted the ball to err ...Rishton, I think. Anyway, was impressed with his play , he looked much more confident than the last time I saw him.
Must also mention Miles. He had one of those games where every time he got the ball it looked like something was gonna happen. He set up the first goal for Procter and on a several of occasions he went charging at the opposition with bewildering footwork. Love it when he plays like that he's great to watch. One of these days he's gonna score a corker that we'll remember for a long time

Funny ya should say Lees reminds ya of a young "Newton" Reamer, i thought it was me getting carried away. but i thought same.:D its certainly early in the lads career, but i can see the potential, if he keeps his head down n works hard,:)

agree shaker i said to quite a few people fer me the first 45 mins was the best performance this season so far, to me anyway, played on ground how ball should be played unlucky not to be 3/4 up at half time, lost it a bit fer 25 mins or so in second half due to larruping it up in the air again, i reckon if they play a full 90 mins as they can- someone is going to get seriously stuffed.:)

  • 3pts off the play-off places
  • 5pts above the relegation places
  • 3 wins in our first seven league games matches our best start to a League 2 campaign
Let's get this tax bill paid so Coley can get a decent monthly playing budget and the players to kick on and get into those playoff places!!!

Acci should not really conceed many goals from corners or set pieces as they have a back four of centre backs !.Regarding the left back position, there is nobody else to play there at present due to injuries etc..
Deanos prefered position is at sweeper\midfield holding role, but edwards and joyce are playin great at the moment, he will have to wait his chance.
Talking to him last week,he said hes only played fullback half a dozen times in his career upto this season,so its a massive learning curve for him,but hes loving it !

Taken from a thread on Qatcake fanzine-Stoke city BY A Stoke fan...I had a really enjoyable evening sitting next to the dugouts. Some of the industrial language coming from the mouths of Coleman and Windass was very entertaining- especially when Colin Todd told JC to stop swearing. http://s1.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

A well deserved victory but it was very nearly a harsh lesson of taking your chances- it should have been about 5-0 at half time!!

All the best.
