The wages issue was subject of a story in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph on Tuesday:

ACCRINGTON Stanley captain Andy Procter insists the squad are focused on results rather than unpaid wages ahead of tonight’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy second round tie at home to Shrewsbury.
The Stanley squad go into the game, which kicks off at the earlier time of 7pm to encourage families to attend, having still not received half of their money for September but Procter says they are instead concentrating all their thoughts on a return to form after Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Chesterfield in League Two.
Stanley won four of their six games last month – including a 5-3 win over Crewe in their last home game – so Procter is now targeting another run of results to help the club progress in the trophy and also prevent their league standing slipping lower than their current position of 14th.
On the subject of the wages, which were due to be paid last Wednesday, he said: “The lads have received half the money and the rest is supposed to be going in on Sunday.
“But that’s not an issue, none of the boys even mentioned it before Saturday’s game.
“To be honest there’s not too much the players can do about it apart from put performances in on the pitch and try to get fans through the gates."

It's not really a surprise. Once a winding-up order has been issued against a company, then all of it's bank accounts are frozen; No one - and that includes employees as well as trade creditors - can be paid from those accounts. Quite simply, HMRC have first call on whatever dosh is in the bank. Once arrangements have been made via the bank and the courts to pay off the debt due to HMRC and that transaction occurs, can the accounts be unfrozen.

I would guess that the players will be paid from another source and that payment would be treated as a temporary loan.

The winding up order hasn't gone through, if it had then there would be no Stanley. The Revenue have postponed the winding up order so the bank accounts will NOT have been frozen. The quote from Proccy states that half of their wages were paid last Wednesday and the rest was going to be paid on Sunday so the whole of the wages should have been paid by now.

Perhaps they have agreed to reduced wages until the debt is paid off,as if it isn't ,they will all be looking for clubs!!!!! /employment.

I wish people would put the same energy into raising the funds required as they do into slagging various people off and stirring things up.

As,has been said before,lets get HMRC off our back.

Accepting reduced wages until the debt is paid off?? We have just over 2 weeks to pay the debt. How much do you think our players earn??!!

If you are referring to me, how do you know how much I have given to the appeal? As for stirring things up, I wish more people would. Then we might see a bit more action from the club.

Get real. The supporters are NEVER going to raise the funds required although they have done a fantastic job in the last five weeks. Over £200,000 has to be raised in 17 days. That's almost £12,000 per day.

The only way to do that is to pay the tax bill. £308,000 - within 17 days. So...either our Chairman keeps to his promise ("I assure you that I will not let Accrington Stanley fold again") or major funding is sought and obtained from another source.

most players have received half of there money and some none ! that is a fact.
The players dont seem to mind and are just concentrating on 3 points at the weekend

Sorry, I should have said petition - and that still stands. My understanding is that it is the Court Hearing that has been postponed and until that date or until HMRC gets it's money, then outgoing payments on the accounts would be frozen (at least that used to be the normal procedure). As far as HMRC is concerned, they have first call on whatever is in the accounts and as such they are frozen so as not to allow a company asset to be drained away. There is a similar freeze on the disposal of fixed assets but I doubt if Stanley have very little of those although outward player transfers could possibly be interpreted as something similar.

I don't know of any banking transactions with a value date on a sunday so I can only assume they will be receiving a cheque from another source on that date. The alternative, of course, is that the source is gate money paid in cash. We can only hope, therefore that no one from HMRC will have seen Proccy's comments because I doubt if they will be too amused by such a scenario.

Anyway, who knows what the hell is going on with all this sorry saga.
