Re: Johnny Coleman - Football Genius
I think we ALL know Rocky was NEVER good enough for the Football League.
That was clear to me, and alot of other people for years. |

Agree also that Cav was not too far out of his depth, but he did not play enough games.. Talking of Conference side we still have Proccy and Leam.. Or are they also not good enough??? |
Re: Johnny Coleman - Football Genius
as for Leam, i think hes good enough without a doubt, IF he plays, hes injury record has been shocking for the last 2 seasons.
Cant really see the club offering him a new deal to be honest. Proccy doenst have bags of natural ability, but he does make up for it with his work effort! |

and the mighty phil edwards.

Re: Johnny Coleman - Football Genius
Williams showed glimpses of ability in league 2, but if we are honest he was not upto football league standard.
A shame, and a shameful way he bowed out but the playing squad have improved as the management have learnt lessons from experience. Im sure if Coley and Jimmy where to go back in time to our first season in the league, there would be less emphasis on loyalty and an investment in players with potential and/or football league experience. |
Re: Johnny Coleman - Football Genius
Leam richardson as said is good enough when fit, just dont happen often. Proccy aint the best natural player but effort and passion for the club is second to none and has come on a long way technically since the conference. Phil edwards doesnt need to show anybody he is good enough cause he has been all along and will be an effort i think to keep hold of him next summer...

Re: Johnny Coleman - Football Genius
its as simple as this to me, when a team comes up, from any division, the players that have got ya there, deserve a chance to make the higher grade, Always some will, some won't, those that don't should be cut loose,if ya wanna progress, sentiment fer those who got the club up can be a costly factor, it aint nice but its life.

3 on the bounce, with a small, tired squad, he really is the "Football Genius" :worthy: :)

Re: Johnny Coleman - Football Genius
These two guys continue to get the best out of probably the smallest squad in the Football League !! Coley's always said that he reckons there's another promotion waiting to happen !! Let's all hope tonight's result can help him achieve that feat ( with the extra money tonight's win raised) and we can get past the Gills and get another £60k and a proper draw in the fourth round!!!:D
Just to add my two penneth to the arguement about a couple of the players mentioned on this thread.... Williams...not bad at non-league level, but never really cut it once we stepped up to the league. As for his part in the betting scam, I'd be suprised if he gets another job in football as high as football league level.......it probably wouldn't be anything to do with the betting scam...quite simply that he was never good enough for League football. Richardson...the lad has undoubted talent, however has been plagued by injuries. If we get a fully fit Richardson back playing at his best, then, like the old cliche, it'll be like having made a new signing again in some respects!!!:D Paul Mullin...The accolades are many...the man whose goals fired Stanley to the League..."Mr. Consistency"...whatever else is said about his age / advancing years, the guy can still cut it at league two level..His goals for the Shrimps continue to prove that. I hope and pray that he and Mr. Craney don't rub salt in on Boxing Day. And I'd stand by what was already said on another thread, I hope Mullers gets a testiminial game. It would be nice to see Mullers in the Red Shirt we all loved him in one last time..:o Cavanagh... Always liked his work ethic, always gave his all. The guy made a mistake, there are those that will say it's just the same betting £5 against your own team as it would be betting £1K. If he's fit when his ban expires then it'll be interesting to see if Coley & Bell give the lad another chance......My own opinion but I would. |
Re: Johnny Coleman - Football Genius
Was it Bill Shanlky that was famously credited with saying summat about football being more important than life or death ? Well, what I have always thought about our John'nJimmy is that you can easily imagine that they regard Stanley in the same vein.
