Michael Symes
Grimsby town have had a six-figure sum turned down for your striker symes.
Heres the story on the backpage of our telegraph http://i50.tinypic.com/2d0niv7.png |
Re: Michael Symes
Neil Woods really is an idiot.
|
Re: Michael Symes
I've got to admit, im very very scepticle of his management, He still hasnt won a game, where signing strikers by the bag full, nothings changed from newell.
|
Re: Michael Symes
6 figures, will not be enough for Symes!!
Simply brilliant, the wonderful Michael Symes! |
Re: Michael Symes
And we did right turning it down :)
|
Re: Michael Symes
It's known we don't need to sell, not even to Championship clubs that have shown interest. I can't get my head around by Woods wood think Symes would fancy a move to Grimsby? Probably just a statement of false intent for the fans who want him sacked.
|
Re: Michael Symes
More than likely, we've been begging for money to be spent and stop wasting time on journeymen, last signing for money we made was martin gritton back in 05/06 or 06/07 not too sure when, but was only 5k. Were fed up of no ambition, and were exactly short on money, we've sold bennett for about 675,000 and a young lad to hull for 100,000
|
Re: Michael Symes
Be interesting to see how Fletcher gets on. As somebody who supports Burnley but also goes to watch Stanley, Symes and Fletcher have very similar styles, just one has bags more experience.:)
|
Re: Michael Symes
tell ya what, 2 months ago ya would probably have got him fer that, club were that desperate. now on a much more even keel, thank god.:)
|
Re: Michael Symes
250.000 then i still say no. why go to a bottom 4 team always down a the bottom in the last year or too or so
|
Re: Michael Symes
As good as he looks, he is out of contract in a few months time. I presume if he hasnt signed his new deal within the next few days we will have to accept offers for him.

Very true he has come to us, settled in well with the squad, playing week in week out, scoring goals, i think he should stay till least next january get a good season under his belt, with the sqaud and see what comes about next january.

Re: Michael Symes
Does anyone else have a smirk on the face with the fact that we are actually turning down six figure sums?
I DO :D:D:D |

Symes is worth at least 250k IMO |
Re: Michael Symes
I hope he does stay as he has some sort of Presentation a week on Tuesday before the Barnet game;)
|
Re: Michael Symes
If the new regime really does have high ambition they should pull up trees to convince him to stay. He is the single biggest factor in our revival this season.
|
Re: Michael Symes
we got him on a free, he has paid us back ten fold, cup runs league runs etc, maybe play offs let him run his contract out if he goes for free
|
Re: Michael Symes
:)Michael Symes has been good for Stanley but Stanley has been fantastic for Michael. If you research his club biography he has been at several clubs but has never had a decent spell in a first team, mainly due to injuries. When he came to Stanley last season he was clearly lacking match fitness and confidence. John and Jimmy got him fit during a regular spell in our first team and towrds the end of theseason you could see the potential starting to show through. :)Excellent pre season training has allowed Michael to start the season fully fit and he has gone from strength to strength as his confidence too has grown. As Redraine says, he is essential to our team and in my opinion should be signed up for at least two years. We should only sell him if somebody makes a serious bid which I think should be nearer to SEVEN figures than five!!:):):)
Come on Stanley today. Let's show the Southern Jessies from Fulham how we play!! :theband::thankya::thankya::thankya: |
Re: Michael Symes
well watched Scunthorpe V Man City this aft n if "Robinho" is worth 30 odd million, just oer 100K fer symes is a joke, aint saying symes is worth that, but am saying would rather have symes up front than yon mon.

Preston target Accrington Stanley striker (From Lancashire Telegraph)
Hopefully it will get rejected but like coley always says we cant stand in the way of a player who wants to move up the leagues preston proberly going to pay him double his wages! plus goal bonus etc! |

how times change , only 12 months ago deano and jonny flynn were bullying wellbeck and macheda , they were not that sparkling at academy level either !!!
|
Re: Michael Symes
Was it just me, or did it look like Symes was saying goodbye to the Clayton End last night? I said to the lads who were stood with me that he seemed to spend a lot of time clapping at us at the end of last nights game, paranoia maybe??
Let's just hope so!! Would hate to split this Team up until the end of the season, would like to see just how good they really are! :) |
Re: Michael Symes
He was just waving goodbye to the dozen or so 10 year olds banned last night!!! :)

Re: Michael Symes
Be gutted if he left mid season, breaking up the team and coley and jb and the club have oviously done wonders for his career, moving around league 2 clubs than comes here settles downn fines his form and championship clubs come in for him, was always going to happen the more him and bobby were scoring the more attraction he would make, preston is a good move, just i'd like him back on loan for rest of season so he can help us in play-offs maybe play at wemberly than coley and jb have the summer to find a replacement, maybe kee?

Re: Michael Symes
This is a real toughie on one hand do you perhaps turn down a decent amount of money and run the risk of having a player who may have had his head turned and form could suffer?
Take an offer against losing the player on a free come the end of a season and perhaps watching the wheels come off a possible promotion bandwagon? The only thing I would say is in my eyes since we came back to the League, Michel Symes this season has even eclipsed Paul Mullin as not only a striker but a genuine target man, giving us a totally new dimension to our style of play. |
Re: Michael Symes
I agree Michael has given a different style of play however take the money and run as we dont want him to go for nothing. Kee would and does make a good partner and Gary King is a striker option too. Its another defender we could do with securing. If we get injuries we havent too much choice for back up.

Re: Michael Symes
Hope coley has a quiet word in micheals ear, just like he did to gary roberts before he moved to the championship, but i hope this time he is listenin to as coley knows best as symes has found out this season, whatever coley is feeding the guy and doing in training is certainly working for him and the rest of the players
|
Re: Michael Symes
Sadly its a no brainer if he can leave in the summer on a free. Not long ago 150k was the difference in having a team to support and not. Also as a club Accy can get the reputation of revitalising a young players career after initial rejection therefore possibly encouraging other youngsters to choose ASFC over rival suitors.
|
Re: Michael Symes
what if it wasnt Symes they were watching? I'm thinking Jimmy Ryan fits the bill more closely to what Preston need/want
|
Re: Michael Symes
6 of 1 half a dozen of the other really aint it! Do we keep reject all offers, keep him for rest of season than let him go on a free after we possably got into the play-offs, some good tv money day, or let him go now for 300k and maybe not see play-offs but still finsh top 12

Good news that, I like the fact that we have a few of our good players signed up for next season already and Symes is one more that should be added to that!!!
|
Re: Michael Symes
The worry for me is we are a nearly a month after the Transfer Deadline and still nowt signed?
Now if it were me and my terms were possibly being improved and potentially money was being improved, I would be itching to get something in writing and signed? |
Re: Michael Symes
sheffield united/wednesday derby and bristol city interested in him
|
Re: Michael Symes
Read between the lines of his interview - he will sign only if no one who takes his fancy comes in.
He is indirectly touting himself in the press to other clubs. |

Fair point Cashy but without Coley where would Symes be today? Being honest I don't think he would be playing week in week out at another team. We have given him a platform for him to show how good he is but he does owe us a debt of loyalty.
|
Re: Michael Symes
its a catch22, stuff like this will always be the case at clubs like ours, i would love him to stay.:)my prediction is if turner gets a good run, symes will fire us into the playoffs.
|
Re: Michael Symes
im just hoping we can get him to sign a deal for next season.
Coley has given him the chance and look what he has achieved. He is in a no-lose situation if he signs for us again anyway. |
Re: Michael Symes
His stock has never been higher, negotiate the best 2 year deal you can at ASFC fella, then do the business & go to the Championship for a fee......

I feel for him to stay we will have to at least make the play offs, which on our current run of form isnt gonna happen and also the state of affairs the club off the field is in. i know that if things dont change symesy wont be the only 1 to move to pastures new IMO
