Re: Bigger crowd
Before I saw it running I was let's say a little concerned that with a small fan base we were barking up the wrong tree.
It is the mutt's nuts in basic terms so long as it reaches it's full potential e.g. it has to pay for itself, now how that is measured I am not quite sure but if it reaches a wider audience through the convenience of it's own website for ticketing & retail then the goal maybe easier to achieve than maybe we give it credit for? The key is perhaps the database itself is once anyones details are recorded they can be targetted with ticket offers, away travel, latest lines in the Stanley Store etc. whether that is by post, email or even text that effectively pushes the Boundaries out of Hynburn to a Global Audience which is something we don't have at the moment for the retail side of things. I still think the matchday prices are wrong but I hope the Club are astute enough to look at things like that as well as the whole matchday setup there is so much that can still be achieved by expanding the horizons of encouraging people along earlier than 2.50pm on a Saturday afternoon:) |

...like everyone else, I have serious doubts about the pricing. Reckon it should be £10 pre-booked and £13 walk ons. I hope that if the Barnet experiment isn't a success (and, obviously, we all hope that it is), the club will relook at next season's pricing stucture. |
Re: Bigger crowd
Maybe they could actually make money on the new system if they can outsource themselves to a neighbour and provide online ticket sales for them :D

Re: Bigger crowd
Attendances.
Monday 24th May 2010. Stanley crowd up 40% Accrington Stanley's average home league atendance rose by 40% last season to 1,980, an increase of 565 on last season. Although the recently released figures show a 7% decline in attendances in League Two, our crowds have bucked the trend, increasing significantly after suffering something of a slump in the last two seasons. Our average home attendances in League Two since returning to the Football League are as follows: 2006/07 - 2,260 2007/08 - 1,633 2008/09 - 1,415 2009/10 - 1,980 Speaking about the news chief executive Robert Heys said "It is fantastic to have witnessed such a significant rise in the attendances this season, no doubt spured in some ways by our financial problems at the start of the season but backed up with some superb displays on the pitch and a lot of hard work behind the scenes in terms of promoting the matches and the efforts of our Football in the Community scheme. "We are a small club compared to many of the sides in our division however with the backing of our supporters we have shown we can hold our own in League Two and indeed look to continue to progress." It would be really nice to grow the crowds again by a similar amount next season and then we would have our biggest crowds in our recent FL times!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) |

Re: Bigger crowd
Nice to see things on the up, I know things got slightly bumped up by the two Friday night bumper gates but it's heading in the right direction.
It's down to the Club to take a sensible lead as there will always be the hardcore but clever ticketing & walk on prices will help as will making the away end more inviting especially on those Autumn & Winter days/evenings where more away fans would perhaps turn up if they knew the facilities were better for their buck. At the end of the day the away fans are the ones who are going to be the ones paying out more sponnys than the Home fans in terms of perhaps walk on numbers, so perhaps a few areas there to target particulary as we don't know what is going on with the Whinney Hill/Coppice developments at the moment. |
Re: Bigger crowd
A very interesting report on the Social & Community Value of Football:)
http://www.supporters-direct.org/dow...off_report.pdf Particulary interesting following on from Monday evening when Matt came along to the Supporters Club meeting with Lewis to explain his role & the direction of the Football in the Community at Stanley. |
Re: Bigger crowd
whilst its a pretty comprehensive report, What Weight? If Any? do the recomendations of supporters direct, carry?

Re: Bigger crowd
It depends on how the Clubs themselves are structured, the Trust itself represents more than a 160 supporter's trusts and is growing, it seems to have the ear of leading politicians and people within the game.
For a Club like Stanley there are things within the document that are already in place, things that are changing in line with sections of the document, but there are cetainly things within there that could be used as a template to the ends of improving relations with Club, Supporters and the wider Community in general.:) |
