|
Re: v darlington match thread
cav's on the bench for Fleetwood this afternoon
|
Re: v darlington match thread
On the money for players, what use is having more players, when you pick the same 11???? If the squad had been rotated, then they may not have faded, anyway, history now!!!

Re: v darlington match thread
Good afternoon all.
Dan is on duty as a part time tele communications engineer trying to get the radio gear working so your with me for the afternoon... There is a good number of Reds that have made the trip who are starting to make there self heard to my right. I will be keeping you update throughout the game, here is to hoping we don't set a new league record of six defeats on the spin. The home side will line up like this, Shane Redmond Paul Arnison Alan White Ian Miller © Chris Moore Gary Dempsey Josh Gray Gary Smith Tadhg Purcell Stuart Giddings Mor Diop SUBS, Nick Liversage Andrew Milne Dan Groves Mark Convery Nathan Mulligan Michael Smith Richie Byrne 15mins to kick off time to pop the kettle on before kick off Ben |
Re: v darlington match thread
Chris Turner and Jay McCarten are both out doing the warm up in front of me neither look injured just a case of Coley shuffling his pack.
|
Re: v darlington match thread
Be lucky for us Ben!!!

Hello again from our brand new log in :)
Dan's attempts to connect to 2BR failed so we have had plenty of time on our hands so I guess you will be hearing from us both as the afternoon progresses. Teams are on their way out of the tunnel.... |
Re: v darlington match thread
We are underway.... with the ultra singing "whats it like to see a crowd" haha
|
Re: v darlington match thread
20 seconds: foul by Billy Kee very late deserved a yellow just a talking to from the ref
resulting free kick is headed away by Darran Kempson before Ian Dunbavin claims a simple cross |
Re: v darlington match thread
7 Chance for Darlington Chris Moore cut in from right and shot left footed just wide but it must of got a deflection as a corner was awarded. Stanley have defended well and won a free kick which Ian Dunbavin will take
|
Re: v darlington match thread
8 Darlo free kick 20 yards out on left wing Jimmy Ryan penalised for a high boot Kempson heads away cross
|
Re: v darlington match thread
12: Darlo shot on target. Drive from 30 yards by Paul Arnison Ian Dunbavin diving to his right makes the save

And in a test match special style, a change in the commentary box... I'm Dan Jewell.
Utterly uninspiring so far. Darlo with most of the chances (all two of them) and that's it. Press box activities currently include watching Burnley online, shopping and fantasising about our players(!) |
Re: v darlington match thread
And AccyMad, relatively speaking, how high can Jimmy Ryan get a boot? He's hardly a giant is he? Bloody referees!
|
Re: v darlington match thread
Afternoon Dan & Ben the 2br team hehehehe :D
|
Re: v darlington match thread
19: Darlo free kick 28 yards out, 5 man stanley wall, Gary Dempsey right footed very poor into the wall
|
Re: v darlington match thread
As we are both sat here with nothing much to do we shall put out initials on the end so you know who is posting unless you can come up with a nickname each for Dan and myself... what have I let us in for?
|
Re: v darlington match thread
Dan - a bit worried about you two fantasising about our players??? I trust you mean it as in which players you'd like to bring in next season? :)
|
Re: v darlington match thread
It's not us. For legal reasons the culprit must remain nameless.
We just had a chance btw - Symes volleying just wide - DJ |
Re: v darlington match thread
27min Tadhg (daft first name) Purcell got in to the box on the left shot pushed round the near post by Bavs... BS
|
Re: v darlington match thread
Has a very pre-season feel to the game so far, neither side committing too much! The Burnley online watching has been given up now!
|
Re: v darlington match thread
anybody got any caffeine? - DJ

Re: v darlington match thread
Torquay are beating Dale 2 nil - don't feel so bad about us losing to the Gulls now :)

|
Re: v darlington match thread
AccyMad you've mad my day as that has refreshed my memory of the nice chap on the way in who asked if we wanted coffee or tea on the way in, only 9mins to go :)
On the field Kempson nearly just headed past Bavs corner kick only. |
Re: v darlington match thread
Eyes may be deceiving me but Burnley are drawing away from home.

Re: v darlington match thread
Biggest cheer of the game is for the ball hitting Michael Symes at speed on the back side... there are some home fans here it only took them 44mins and 52seconds to make a noise....BS
|
Re: v darlington match thread
Half time. Some entertainment in the next 45 please.
|
Re: v darlington match thread
Half Time 0-0 and the whistle from the ref i guess has disturbed some folks afternoon nap and they start to stand up in front... Vast improvement needed!!
|
Re: v darlington match thread
Sounds like it's been a riveting first half - fingers crossed Coley can give 'em a pep talk at half time that motivates them - gonna get me brew now :)
|
Re: v darlington match thread
John Miles is on the pitch and going through his paces... my guess Kee off Grant upfront and Miles to the left. I will confirm when we know. BS
|
Re: v darlington match thread
Morning/evening all...
|
Re: v darlington match thread
Dan again...
A couple of bits of important information: 1) the teams are coming out for the second half 2) the urinals in the gents are like something out of thunderbirds - stainless steel pods that self clean... 3) the member of the press contingent fantasising over ours players is NOT the lovely Dany Robson... 4) I am exceptionally bored (there's no ISDN or phone lines in this 25000 capacity monster so I have little to do!) 5) the Grand National starts in 15 minutes |
Re: v darlington match thread
Oh, and Kee is off for Miles. Shorrock wants me to say that he was right.
Ginger, but right. |
Re: v darlington match thread
Star spotting - Leam Richardson going pie shopping on the concourse.
Darlo fans view - Disappointing first half, expected Billy Kee to be star man. Enter John Miles as a half time sub. |
Re: v darlington match thread
Martyn, have you seen the urinals????

Re: v darlington match thread
We'll be ok now - our camaflauge winger is on :) and you lot please stop talking about the urinals - that was a big cup of coffee I just drank & I'd like to make it through the second half without having to pay a visit
|
Re: v darlington match thread
I have I was quite disturbed. Is Mor Diop a contender for worst footballer on the planet?
|
Re: v darlington match thread
48min Symes goes down under pressure free kick to stanley on the right 20 yards out here comes Bobby....
Its awful if the goals where twice the height the keeper would still just watch it sail over :( 49min bobby in with chance on the left shot on target pushed wide brilliantly by shane redmond. short corner routine makes its way to ryan who shoots just over from 18yards |
Re: v darlington match thread
Half time team talk worked then??
|
Re: v darlington match thread
Note to all of those not here:
If Mor Diop scores the winner this afternoon, the jinx is called Martyn Biddulph and I can leave him in the north east if you wish... DJ |
Re: v darlington match thread
counter attack neat play by grant and joyce on the right. joyce cross found its way to miles who took a touch. his shot was described as catching practice by Dan
|

Torquay just went 5 nil up :)

Incredible double save from the Darlo keeper just as I typed that! First Kempson and then Grant denied. Corner wasted though.
Reds fans still in good voice. |

Re: v darlington match thread
Win, lose or draw, looking at the sporting life match report, plus the reports from the lads on here, I just cannot understand how this Team appears to be playing so poorly, compared to 10/15 games go???

We've just got back, a pretty dire match to be honest.
But congratulations to the Darlo fans in Block 4, A good bit of old fashioned banter. The best entertainment of the match. |
Re: v darlington match thread
A welcome point from a game neither side really deserved to win. First half we were atrocious, with the defence seemingly under orders to hoof the ball as high in the air and as far as possible. Composure on the ball was completely lacking, with the notable exception of Jimmy Ryan who was just about our man of the match for me. At times Darlo briefly threatened with some quick forward interchanges and I half thought they were going to do a Grimsby on us. John Miles did make a big difference in the second half as at last we had a forward who could retain possession and make things happpen, and we should have had a couple of goals from 2 chances each for him and Bobby Grant, but again, the composure wasn't there. Thanks to Bavs for saving the day late on when their man was through on goal, looking odds on to score. No Turner again though - why do we not want to play our only man who can deliver a good, pacy cross? Incomprehensible.

There is something seriously wrong at the moment! Today was bloody awful, Jimmy Ryan tried his hardest but the lads a central midfielder not a ruddy winger, Miles tried to create when he came on. A few others tried but in essence it was shabby, no cohesion back to lumping it forward first half, second half when they got it down they did threaten but too many players are flattering to decieve at the moment. Maybe the sooner the season ends the Better on current form & ideas? It's going to be a major surgery job over the Summer for the Reds both on & off the field Maybe that's what is needed, it has been a long hard season with all the crap that went on earlier in the Season and maybe the shadow of some things are still casting doubts around the Crown Ground? |

One of the few players we have who can produce genuine width and create havoc for defences with his pace/crosses but he dosn't get on the Bench but yet Murphy & McConville do:rolleyes: |
Re: v darlington match thread
Well said Pendle Red. A poor game today, hoofing the long ball forward we were outplayed Darlo occasionally using their wings well and played better football than us. No Pride No Passion and no players on the bench capable of change. Plus point of my day pie at half time.
|
Re: v darlington match thread
Oh dear, Dan & Ben weren't exaggerating then - Coley needs to get to the bottom of what's wrong, obviously locking them in after Monday's game wasn't the answer (never thought it would be to be honest)
For whatever reason their confidence is seemingly shot to pieces, maybe it's the amount of games they've played & they're plain & simply knackered, will be a damn shame if the season peters out to nothing after all their hard work at the start. |
Re: v darlington match thread
Can he though accymad, is my question. the way i see things is the close season will demonstrate one way or the other, needs to forget the old pals act, weed out the chaff, n build where possible on the good things we got.
|
Re: v darlington match thread
is it a split camp? some players wanting to move onwards, others frustrated.
