as a player you want to be playing at the highest level you can!

a drop down a league for clearly more money in my eyes is not a loyal player at all!

maybe id understand if it was just a move to an established non league club like york, wrexham etc, not a newly promoted one flashing the cash to everyone !!

if you you dont think its about the money then your kidding yourself! it clearly is! its a one off they wernt payed their full wage and they have actually received all
of it now!! people like craney , barry , miles are all there for the money!!

players dont care about were they play now! loyalty in this game now is a rarity!!

it is not a one off it has happened before, i know it n so so you, memory loss is it? yes some players leave fer purely monetary reasons, any fool knows that, but to say "All" like you did is n exhibition of stupidity to me, would you stay in any employment if ya weren't getting paid on time? n another opportunity came along? i sure as hell would never have, about people ya mention who don't post now on here, if those jessies can't take a differance of opinion, then tough.

you cant compare playing football to an ordinary job! its totally different. other players have stayed etc, so why can't he?

option to play football league or non league with a newly promoted team? clearly not moving for football reasons...

I'm with Cashy and others; you have to pay your way in life. Miles made a good choice; Fleetwood is a club on the up, there's little doubt that promotion will come at the end of next season, there is sound investment into the ground, players and town and everyman and his dog is totally committed. No half baked dreams of what could be if everyone plays ball. Their investors; invest, they make things happen. I can see Fleetwood overtaking us on the way up, has we make our way down.

What has happened/is happening at Fleetwood presumably isn't just the result of their backer throwing money at players. The change in manage last season smacked of someone having worked out a vision for a clubs and of taking steps to achieve it. Although not everything was rosy by any means in the EW years, at least there wad that decisiveness and sense of purpose. I just hope for Fleetwood's sake that that haven't made the mistake of other Lancashire clubs in seemingly paying out money in wages whilst forgetting the tax man.

I'm not sure I'd they will pass us on the way up as I hope that our FL adventure still has some way to go.

On the subject of Miles, on those occasions I've seen him play when I've been able to get to games, he seemed a luxury player who wasn't always in the game but was capable of producing the odd moment of magic. I'm not convinced that there's any place for that kind of player on League 2. League 1, perhaps, but not 2. It'd bad form for him not to speak to JC face to face, especially when he'd agreed to signs new contract, buoy perhaps he was still waiting for his to be typed as well and was sick of waiting until "next week".

It would be nice if whoever takes his place in the squad could offer some genuine width like we used to enjoy from Roberts, Prendergast, Hoskin...

I reckon rumours of Fleetwood's impending progress to the FL have been greatly exaggerated. At the moment, we're the smallest town in the league with a population of 37,000. Fleetwood has 27,000 souls...do you reckon a town that size can generate high enough gates to support a league club?...with a premiership club just down the road?...and a championship club quite close (starting to sound familiar, isn't it?).

The board can have all the grandiose plans they want, they can make all the investments they want, but at the end of the day, if the area doesn't have the potential to generate the gates, not just for the big matches, but game after game, season after season, then the club will struggle to make the league and stay there (as we've found out in no uncertain terms!).

I made a similar post some time ago and got my nuts chewed. I’m not putting the club down, but you have said the same thing as many of us. Small population, low gates and strong local competition for bums on seats.

What Fleetwood have that we don’t is vision and financial investment in the future. Times will become increasingly difficult over the coming seasons, we still keep getting CCJ’s and promises, no real vision and no delivery.

Coley will again go into a season with little money and make do with what he can hold on too. He will produce the odd miracle no doubt; but how long can we survive without somebody committing cart loads of cash without taking anything back out.

Of course we do because those who run the club carry on with the same old flying-by-the-seat-of-your pants, "summat'll turn up" attitude.

But Fleetwood can have all the "vision" and "financial investment" they want, if the town isn't big enough to support a league club, they won't make progress. Don't expect to see 'em in League 2 anytime soon!
