Re: John Miles
as a player you want to be playing at the highest level you can!
a drop down a league for clearly more money in my eyes is not a loyal player at all! maybe id understand if it was just a move to an established non league club like york, wrexham etc, not a newly promoted one flashing the cash to everyone !! |
Re: John Miles
good ridance of our 'vice' captain.

Re: John Miles
you cant compare playing football to an ordinary job! its totally different. other players have stayed etc, so why can't he?
option to play football league or non league with a newly promoted team? clearly not moving for football reasons... |

Re: John Miles
I'm with Cashy and others; you have to pay your way in life. Miles made a good choice; Fleetwood is a club on the up, there's little doubt that promotion will come at the end of next season, there is sound investment into the ground, players and town and everyman and his dog is totally committed. No half baked dreams of what could be if everyone plays ball. Their investors; invest, they make things happen. I can see Fleetwood overtaking us on the way up, has we make our way down.

I'm not sure I'd they will pass us on the way up as I hope that our FL adventure still has some way to go. On the subject of Miles, on those occasions I've seen him play when I've been able to get to games, he seemed a luxury player who wasn't always in the game but was capable of producing the odd moment of magic. I'm not convinced that there's any place for that kind of player on League 2. League 1, perhaps, but not 2. It'd bad form for him not to speak to JC face to face, especially when he'd agreed to signs new contract, buoy perhaps he was still waiting for his to be typed as well and was sick of waiting until "next week". It would be nice if whoever takes his place in the squad could offer some genuine width like we used to enjoy from Roberts, Prendergast, Hoskin... |

The board can have all the grandiose plans they want, they can make all the investments they want, but at the end of the day, if the area doesn't have the potential to generate the gates, not just for the big matches, but game after game, season after season, then the club will struggle to make the league and stay there (as we've found out in no uncertain terms!). |

What Fleetwood have that we don’t is vision and financial investment in the future. Times will become increasingly difficult over the coming seasons, we still keep getting CCJ’s and promises, no real vision and no delivery. Coley will again go into a season with little money and make do with what he can hold on too. He will produce the odd miracle no doubt; but how long can we survive without somebody committing cart loads of cash without taking anything back out. |

But Fleetwood can have all the "vision" and "financial investment" they want, if the town isn't big enough to support a league club, they won't make progress. Don't expect to see 'em in League 2 anytime soon! |
