Just a quick copy and paste of the ground into that site, scale for scale, not rotated or anything, copied ground and car parks, think i've wiped the house out of the pic

Re: Council backs new stadium bid
it suits the environment don't ya think!
The only way it would be ideal then would be to be rotated and put in vertically as far to the right as possible - and that would involve encroaching onto the sports centre car park possibly, difficult considering the river. It would leave a good bit of room to the left for car parking and/or additional buildings. |
Re: Council backs new stadium bid
Don't forget though that theres some steep bankings on that site at the top, these will have to be left, their holding the junction in place, unless some serious foundations are put in place, IIRC an unsupported banking, the ground has to go out as far as it is deep
Some nice fields doing nowt off Dunkenhalgh way :D |
Re: Council backs new stadium bid
Bullough would get my vote :D
|
Re: Council backs new stadium bid
IMHO that area is not viable. If you want to utilise a brown field site then the old power station is ideal.
The only way I think it could work would have to involve underground car parking and a platform for the stadium to be built on if we was to use the arnold clark site. |

Theres no pubs up there  saying that, theres no good pubs in Church either now  :mad:and worse still I'll only pass one on my way :mad::mad: Sod it, build it on Peel St when they move the bus station :D |
Re: Council backs new stadium bid
I am under the impression that the site being looked at was the Sports Centre site and the Arnold Clark site together.
The complex would be privately funded and include other facilities not just a stadium. |

That as a whole area would be gigantic and would more than accomodate our needs. I personally wouldn't want either development around Bullough, Dunkenhalgh or the old power station site because they aren't 'involved' enough. Church would be 100% ideal (close to home!) because it is only just out of the town centre and has potential for a lot more business to be built around it. There might not be much in the way of pubs now, but most of the buildings are still there and could quite easily be re-opened. It's close to the motorway and close to a railway station, it's also only just off a major bus route. Winners all round as far as local business is concerned. The other MAJOR thing is that around 10,000 cars a day would pass by the site, which keeps it at the forefront of peoples thoughts as far as marketing and appeal are concerned. Field of Dreams - Build it and they will come. |
Re: Council backs new stadium bid
To me its n ideal spot fer reasons macca has said, if it could be a goer.:)

Re: Council backs new stadium bid
I agree the spot is bang on, if the development was to include the sports centre then yes it is the ideal location sizewise. Things are getting intresting in the club.
