Re: Bury Match

At half time at gigg lane we are behind 2 nil but not out of it.
Bury have won the midfield battle nulifying Stanley's build up play.
Hessey and Edwards have both looked nut of sorts, up front Gornell has done little and still has no ability to mix it up but did manage to mess up a easy one on one.
Coleman was getting increasingly angry as the half went on.
Bury are the better team but no world beaters, we need to be 1st to the ball to get back into this.

Re: Bury Match

The boys weren't at the races today, but had MConville put away that absolute sitter when it was 0-0 it might have been a different story. I have never seen such a streetwise team as Bury, though. A bunch of all in wrestlers who were given far too much leeway by the useless ref. You can almost forgive Proccy for being provoked into retaliation. Bury were far too pacy in attack for us to cope, particularly their no. 25 who was a handfull right from the word go. Lets hope we START with eleven men next game up, if you know what I mean.

new red 09-10-2010 17:16

Re: Bury Match

Shocking performance today especially 1st half. Game would have been different had the sitter been put away but we were over run in midfield with parkinson and sean being overpowered and out muscled at every opportunity and Lindfield when he came on making no impact and also showing lack of strength. Jimmy ran his socks off as per usual and Gornell tried too much on his own. I dont know what happened with Proccy, I didnt see a punch but look forward to footy league show tonight. Not Winnards or Hesseys best performance either. Roll on next week.

smudgie 09-10-2010 17:17

Re: Bury Match

What Redraine said.

Deja Vu from the Port Vale game, missed a sitter after 5 minutes then never in the game.

Ref didnt have a great game, but red card's where debatable.

Main difference was Ryan Lowe, 2 chances scored twice simple as that.

No doubt Bury will be up there come the end of the season but doesnt help when we seem to self distruct.

Biggest ever Stanley away following surely???

stanley convert 09-10-2010 17:25

Re: Bury Match

Just back,to be fair Bury had done their homework and totally dominated, but as said before if sean had put his boot through the ball for the early chance things may have been different, Ryan for me was again stanleys MOM even though he was double marked certainly in the first half.
As for Proccy,s sending off what a farce Mozika went down quicker than a lead balloon and basiclly conned the ref (can,t put what I really think due to forum constaints)
Over all a poor show from the reds today they just seemed to lack something going forward as for Bury IMHO they aint no world beaters and on another day the result could have been far different.
Highlight of the day was once again the ultras loud and proud no noise from Bury until they were three up **** poor support.

Redash 09-10-2010 17:29

Re: Bury Match

Today Bury battled for the ball, they gave us no space or time. They played their game well and fully deserved the win.
We were not in the game at all.
Procter's sending off offence, was amateur dramatics at it's best/worse.
A bloke stood behind me said straight red as soon as Bateson made his challenge, I didn't think it was bad at the time, but I think I was wrong.

Not sure what to say really it was all over a half time! I do feel sorry for procter because i don't think moz was caught enough to warrant his reaction but the second was a definite red card! but to be honest it was already over by then.
You will do well this season and good luck until we meet again in Jan or JPT (if you are allowed through)

Pendle Red 09-10-2010 18:03

Re: Bury Match

A rather inept dispaly by the Reds, Alan Knill had clearly done his homework with his team workmanlike and in your face breaking up most attacks before they even really started for Stanley.

Number 25 for the Shakers looked good but was allowed to dictate the game with the Stanley back four backing off allowing him time & space to create, whilst Ryan Lowe always looked capable of adding to his brace which was another tough examination for the Stanley defence who seemed slightly disjointed particulary in communication as I saw Dunbavin on more than one occassion having a go at the defence.

Bury in essence also did to Stanley what Stanley were doing to other teams earlier in the season by playing a high backline and moving the ball quickly, I thought today Stanley's best chance would have come with two genuine wide men giving Gornell something to feed off but once Jimmy went wide right in the second half the writing was already on the wall.

A tough game & some lessons to be learned for Stanley but they must look to bounce straight back against another one of the better teams in League Two with the visit of the Millers to the Crown next Saturday.

Wynonie Harris 09-10-2010 20:54

Re: Bury Match

...what everybody else said about the match. Like Stanley Convert though, I've got to say what magnificent support. What other set of fans would still be singing just as loudly and just as passionately when they were 3-0 down? United? Arsenal? Liverpool? Not a chance!

And as for Bury fans, at home, in the play-off zone, 3-0 up and practically silent. What's up with you?

Depressed about the result and the performance, but proud to be a Red! :)

carlmason 09-10-2010 21:03

Re: Bury Match

Extremely pleased with our performance today and I think we really do have a team that can challenge right at the top of this league. Weve got strength in depth and some really quick exciting attacking players and a strong bench.

All the best for the rest of the season. We lost 3 0 at Crewe a few weeks back and bounced back so no reason why you cant do the same.

Re: Bury Match

Again i think redraine got it about right and acci were out muscled in midfield.
To me its obvious that teams are now working out how to play against Acci, and when you have to same line up for numerous games its easier to plan how to stop us playing.
The young lad on loan from united exposed hessey on numerous times with good movement and pace, indeed he was moved to left back in the second half.
One moan tho, when they got at our centre backs with long balls,i would get the fullbacks to play narrow and cover, the gaffer seems to like them to stay wide and mark the wingers and rely on the holding midfielders to make the headers (proccy),it didnt work today and edwards and hessey were exposed.
Its all about opinions and on the day Bury won the battle

Re: Bury Match

First and foremost can I say thanks to Colmeister for driving down with myself, Fantastic to catch up with some of you lot despite the fact that I no longer live in Accrington. Namely Macca, Pendle Red, Simon, Smiffy and Boggles. Winnard looked shocking today within the first ten minutes, hence why he was allowed so much time on the ball. Hoofing didnt work today as it never does, just looks scrappy. Ryan and Gornell looked fantastic even in the lackluster team today. McConville showed his lack of strength and after the big chance was hardly heard of. Turner looked promising at times when he came on. Reflection is 7 goals in 2 games, defensive slip of late, and still no win in the league away from home.

P.S - 3-0 and they only made noise when the sending offs occured, dreadfull home support no wonder they call the home end the cemetery end. Also the catering was shocking no burgers/chips or hotdogs and the worst sausage roll ever even Hereford is a step up.

Its a strange one. Sometimes the atmosphere at Gigg is pretty good and other days flat.

Believe it or not I was in the other end behind the net and couldnt hear the Accy fans either. It always sounds louder when your in the stand in question.

What you forget is that Gigg is a pretty big ground 11,000 and the clubs split the family stand into two bits, 1 in the main stand and one behind the net so the singers seem to be dotted around which doesnt help. if Gigg held 6000 Im sure it would be rocking.

Away from home is a different story, well take 400+ to Torquay in their covered end and it will be rocking.

Anyway good thing is we had 600/700 more home fans there than the last home game and we are looking pretty good so that will do me.

Roll on a long weekend in Torquay!!!!!

Colmeister 09-10-2010 23:36

Re: Bury Match

Completely agree with Redraine. McConville scores that early goal and its a different game entirely. And yeah Bury's no. 25 (the boy on loan from Man U) was outstanding today, we had no idea how to stop him.

From Stanley point of view, I don't get to see them often but its easily the worst I've seen them play. Agree with Nickelson, Winnard was woeful. (also agree bout the catering, it was even worse!). Good thing we found a chippy on way out of Bury - I learned a new term - 'chip barm'. Eh??? A 'roll and chips' where I'm from (chip buttie at a stretch - but a barm?).

Fantastic Accy support as always and Tom depending on the FA cup draw, that could be our next adventure. (if not, see u in Morecambe at New Year).

The official best chippy in the north is in Bury - Metro on Manchester Road.

And the whole chip teacake/barm/roll/muffin thing is just annoying when you are from Accrington living in Manchester with a bunch of southerners. Weirdest one I've heard is a girl I know from Coventry calls it a "batch". Bloody hell.

Reamer 10-10-2010 00:40

Re: Bury Match

Well beaten today. Bury were the better team , no question. They stopped our passing game and defended well. I don't think we'd have won the game even if McConville had scored that early sitter, not the way we played today. It was poor.
All Bury's goals came from defensive blunders and I have to say that Edwards was poor today and it pains me to say it cos he's usually one of our most consistent performers.
Ryan and Gornell were best for Accy, plus good saves from Bavs or it could have been worse.
Didn't have a good view of the Procter incident but have to say the player lay motionless for a suspiciously long time and recovered very quickly after the sending off.
The Bateson challenge was a badly timed one and I think the ref overreacted with the red, - should have been yellow, but at that point it was end of show as a contest but having had my moan, Bury deserved the win
Good luck to Shakers, they look a good team and have been there or there abouts for last couple of seasons. Maybe this could be their year

As for Ajose yeah hes absolute quality but he goes back in 2 weeks to play for Man Utd against Wolves in the league cup. Re: Bury Match

Colemiester i have to disagree with you regarding winnard being woeful,he didnt have his best game and made a bad error misjudging the long punt for the third goal.
His job was to man mark Worrall, how many times did he get skinned?,i am sure they took him off !.
If he was playing so bad why did the gaffer move him to centre back to deal with the pace of there front line ?
You cant judge a players performance on a couple of mistakes ( look at the 90 minutes).
Out of their 5 corners who headed 3 of them clear ?,True , all the goals were mistakes,
Look at the burys scorers, there forwards were fast and direct and our centre backs couldnt cope with it,so to blame the performance on the fullback is out of order.
Also to say deano went long all the time is incorrect,he went long when he was forced to he always trys to play on the deck
Rant over,The games stats dont read to bad and for the home team to base there game on a physical counter attacking game ( see there managers comments ) is testiment to how well Acci have been playing

Re: Bury Match

Knill had said earlier in the week that he had made the players watch DVD's of our previous encounters and they fully expected us to run, harrass and battle for every ball. Once they made it clear that they too would do that it seemed as though we didn't want to know. Bury easily won the battle of who wanted it the most and once that was done they were able to play football a little more.

The plus side of the sendings off is that we may now see a little more of the squad used - someone else has commented on the unchanged team for seven games and they are right. It does allow you to become predictable and it probably does nowt for the lads who can't get in the eleven, let alone those that aren't in the seven. Who was the highly rated defender we got?

Well we have the Left Back Michael Hall who hasnt had so much of a sniff even in the Paint Pot or Carling Cup.

Then we have Owens and Smyth. Who looked half decent at Tranmere.

Im assuming they will both miss 3 games..... maybe a good chance for Joyce to re-claim a place in the middle of the park???
