Re: Lincoln Thread
A good point on a bogey ground
Tuesday is now massive but how massive is next Saturday against the Gills? That is a real six pointer and a season shaper:eek: |

But Joe, had you been sharing my excellent day out with the Ultras in the historic City of Lincoln, you too would have realised during the match that the point you mention was the result of a 'Home' Team so obviously setting up, and playing for a draw !....something seldom seen and a sad indictment of the Management at Lincoln City !. p.s More interesting was my meeting and chat with that well-informed and esteemed contributor to our Forum, Tealeaf !!. |
Re: Lincoln Thread
A bit of a non-event of a match, that was, though a gritty performance from the red's defenders and midfielders. The less said about our forward play the better. I thought Charlie should have been subbed earlier, as he took a heavy knock and barely featured after that, although he did miss a good chance on his left foot just before half time. I think he might have turned it onto his better right foot if he had been 100%. Coley needs to get hold of Terry Gornell and impart some of his scoring expertise, as his shooting leaves a lot to be desired for a centre forward. Highlight of the day was Choirboy and myself being dropped off the coach in Lincoln for a quick tour of the magnificent cathedral, a grand pint in a quaint pub nearby, and a quick look at some of the guitars in the music shop on High Street.

Re: Lincoln Thread
Well a game of missed chances, we should have won 3-1 at least.
Very disappointing, though always gotta be happy with an away point. Thought Hessey was MOM, solid as a rock, also Cisak looked commanding and had a good game. Roll on Tuesday. |
Re: Lincoln Thread
A game of So many missed chances from Gornell,Sean, even Jimmy missed a great chance . Joyce had a good game and battled hard. Need to get our shooting boots on if we want to make the playoffs. Although maybe before the game we would have taken a point we really should have had 3. Cisak made some decent saves and the Ultras as always sang loud.

Re: Lincoln Thread
A fairly poor game yesterday.:( However, I was disappointed with a draw even away from home. The refereeing at times was "mystifying" :confused:and contributed to the relatively poor entertainment. Lincoln looked like a really poor outfit to me. They lacked any ambition and seemed happy to take the draw from the start.:( They only had a couple of long range shots(on target!) that Alex Cisak dealt with very easily. We made several chances but did not get any on target. We do still have a problem up front and my view is that we need a "predator" type of goal scorer. We have done well recently by scoring "spectacular" goals from Ian Craney but we are not scoring the "scrappy" goals in and around the six yard box that often win games and gain points. Still, one point is better than none and we kept a clean sheet. The defence looked pretty solid. Ultras were great again.:alright: Lincoln's best player was their own group of Ultras who looked like they had borrowed some of our flags! On Stanley On.:hothothot

Re: Lincoln Thread
To be honest i thought Lincoln on paper set up a attacking formation,2 forwards and 2 out and out wingers, therefore Acci out-numbered them in the middle.
Agree that Charlie should have gone off as he was just a passenger once he got injured. Jimmy seemed a bit off today, maybe missing that sitter was on his mind, but i would have left him on and took Craney off as him and Gornell dont seem to be on the same wave length, and a lot of good positions were wasted. Best players for me were Edwards and Joycy although the Keeper is looking very commanding at the moment. |
Re: Lincoln Thread
I was listening to Radio Lincs via PC ( until it was cut off at 2.50 ) the manager of Lincs was saying that Accrington Stanley are prob financially worse off than Lincs. He also said on their visit to Stanley our facilities were very basic indeed BUT he also said that what we lack in materials the team show spirit and its that spirit he wants to rub off onto Lincoln, he praised our lads no end and said what a good season we are having. All this coming from an away manager, made me feel extra proud of our lads.
