Heard unconfirmed reports stating that Ray Matthias is taking over as Stocky manager until the end of the season. Tomorrow could be fun; a little 'trip' down memory lane. Hope Leam's on the bench :)

Well done again Dan. In an otherwise frustrating period off the pitch, the interviews with Coley et al and the more in depth pre match build ups and post match reaction have really enhanced the matchday experience and allowed the fans to hear what's going on at a more personal level. :)

Well as I write it looks like Terry Gornell is taking a walk on Blackpool beach. It's dry atleast!

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 19:02

Re: Stockport Thread

15: Ryan thread through and curls just wide, but lino's flag was raised on the far side.

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 19:07

Re: Stockport Thread

19: Ball over the top sticks in surface and sits up for Craney nicely, but dink over keeper just wide.

Next effort Ryan into keepers hands.

Come on Stanley!

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 19:10

Re: Stockport Thread

Shooting towards the Clayton End as Ryan stands over a free kick 25 yards out and shoots a yard over.

23: Sub Stockport, Rose off, Poole on. Injury sustained 5 mins ago and can't carry on.

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 19:14

Re: Stockport Thread

25: Gornell shot rifles into side netting. Must taken a deflection as referee awards a corner. Stanley building pressure. Free kick 25 yards out again, identical to last one..

Goalllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!

1-0 Stanley

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 19:24

Re: Stockport Thread

Don't think we have been out of Stockport half for a good 10 minutes. Keeping pressure on, lets have another!

Stoppage in play, worry as Ryan down injured.

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 19:27

Re: Stockport Thread

Yes indeed, 9 goals, 8 from the penalty spot.

And sorry was busy updating twitter! Penalty was handball by Aaron Brown, he went up to head the ball but got confused as to what was his head and what was his hand.

ANOTHER penalty to Stanley. Gornell nips the ball past Brown who trips him up. Yellow card.

GOALLLLLLLL, Edwards this time to the keepers left.

3-0!!!!

Just a note to say Ryan is back on and he is looking fine.

The rain is now falling, as McConville is through again but the flag is raised for offside.

listening on radio and apparently aaron brown is having an absolute mare. congrats to phil on hitting double figs

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 19:31

Re: Stockport Thread

44: Teasing Jacobson cross gets a flick off a defender. Ball drops JUST wide of the post. Nothing comes from the corner.

4 added minutes.

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 19:33

Re: Stockport Thread

well after conceding both penalties I would have to agree that Brown is having a mare!

Another chance for McConville, scuffed shot dragged wide.

Without checking, off the top of my head I'd guess when we beat Bournemouth 3-0 at home an Rostyn Griffiths bagged a screamer. During Terry's original loan spell I believe. :)

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 19:53

Listening to the local Stockport radio presenter at half time. He must have read a good 20 emails out and not one was positive.

the rain is coming down even more.

MikeA 08-03-2011 19:56

Re: Stockport Thread

There's some speculation on the Stockport boards that Peter Ward has walked out as manager despite being at the match tonight. Nobody on there really knows what's happening.

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 19:56

Re: Stockport Thread

50: Stockport test Cisak for the first time tonight, but it was an easy save for the Stanley keeper.

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 20:00

Re: Stockport Thread

All I know from listening in on the Stockport commentator is that the board has upset the managerial team. They are here to show support for the owner and coach Ray Mattius has stepped in as manager for the game (or thats how it appears on the team sheet)

I have to say though that nobody really has a clue! not even the Stockport crew.

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 20:01

Re: Stockport Thread

Stanley still with all the pressure. Not much eye-pleasing football but it's doing the job.

I have just been handed a warm pie, so i'm happy!

Saying that Stockport have a corner. It falls to the feet of Brown for an age but is finally cleared.

A lot of play in the middle of the field and no real chances. As the rain comes down even more the pitch is beginning to look very wet on top.

No official crowd yet. The ultras are loud and a relatively large Stockport following are silent.

Re: Stockport Thread

68: McConville corner. Three heads go up but the referee spots a foul

Next attack Ryan attacks down the right, bundled over but referee only gives another corner.

Attendance: 1831 (I'm guessing a fair few Stockport fans included in that)

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 20:20

Burton are doing Lincoln 3-0 too.

All change, Lincoln just got one back

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 20:28

Re: Stockport Thread

79: Gornell fouled to the side of the area by an advancing Stockport keeper. Nobody else around but because of the tight angle Ian McLoughlin gets away with a yellow card, correct decision.

Free kick is fired high, wide and not very handsome!

CallumWayness 08-03-2011 20:32

Re: Stockport Thread

McConville right hand side pulls ball back to Gornell on edge of area who shoots over.

Sub: McConville off, Parkinson on.

Stockport corner onto the head of Brown, ball loops into the air, back onto Browns head who pulls a fine save off Cisak.

Sponsors Man of the Match: Luke Joyce. Controversial decision here in the stand, not had a bad game but there have been better.

Re: Stockport Thread

MOM Luke Joyce? can't grumble with that to be honest as he was his usual industrious self and was at the start and finish of nearly everything. The only one who could truthfully have run him close was Edwards - but I disagree with giving a decision based purely on scoring if they do little else (not his fault).

Aaron Brown 3 - 0 Stockport.

Lets be honest here, we weren't three nil good tonight, they, and Brown in particularly, were probably the worst team I have ever seen. Honestly, they were crap. Brown gave away two penalties and almost scored a diving header own goal from distance at an impossible angle. He miskicked three or four times (wasnt on his own with that), they hit their own players (two or three yards away) with clearances, they tripped over the ball and left it on its own sat on the turf lonely twice. Even the goalkeeper fell over just walking back to his 18 yard box with the ball (was lucky he fell onto the ball really). I tell you, Brown wasnt even sure how to walk today he was that bad.

I thought going forward we could and should have had dozens today but we tried to do too much too many times. Their keeper has barely touched the ball. And defensively we looked in control, but I honestly think that was because of how poor County were. IF Coley had not sent the players for the 2nd half we'd still have kept a clean sheet.

You must be joking. He was awesome tonight! One word sums up Stanley's performance for me - DESIRE. We had it in spades, chasing down the Stockport players all over the pitch throughout the 90 minutes. Great stuff. 2 clearer penalty decisions you won't ever see.:)

I was going to say Brown was lucky to stay on the pitch because he should have got a yellow card for playing basketball on the first penalty, I was going to say lucky but in truth he was so bad the referee would have done him a favour ( and probably the stockport team ) if he had given him the first yellow :D

Re: Stockport Thread

I must have watched a different game !,they were no better than a pub team, the worst i have seen for years.
Acci never got out of second gear, and with JB screaming all game to go long and into the channels to turn stockport around was not pleasing on the eye.
The set up of the team was strange to say the least, our attacking 3 midfielders consisted of sean mac hugging one touchline, jimmy hugging the other and craney in the middle !,they were so far apart at times they needed mobile phones to communicate to each other.
With proccy and joyce sitting deep and reluctant to go forward,Gornell was left frustrated up front.
I presume they had stockport watched and this was the way to beat them, and the scoreline suggests it was correct, but as a viewing spectical it was at times painful.
Luke was by far the MOM and at least tried to link play.
Then again, another clean sheet, another victory, what do i know!!!!,Acci have played 100% better and lost this season, maybe we were due this type of performance / result.
Bring on Gillingham !!!!

Pendle Red 09-03-2011 05:15

Re: Stockport Thread

As others have said you would struggle to see worse teams than County on your local park on a Sunday morning but I suppose if you are devoid of confidence maybe that's what happens?
I was dissapointed if anything because everything was gifted to us for the goals we huffed & puffed and although being in control for long periods we could not put them to the sword in direct play.
As F19 says maybe we were due a scruffy performance but at this stage three points is all that matters.

Onwards & Upwards

MOM Luke Joyce and well deserved, battled hard in the centre. Scrappy game. But I have seen better passing football with the kids on a saturday morning. Stockport were the worst side I have seen this season. That said three more in the bag but under no illusions the Gills will be as easy on saturday. Strange, we win by three goals all scored by our defence as they were really there for the taking.
