All ticket

it was mentioned on radio lancs this afternoon and its on the website the rest of the home games are all ticket

ASFC News Story > 3998

think thats a bad move .. if accy stanley want the fans to come why make it harder for them .. someone could be sitting at home thinking nowt on telly .. i'll go and watch stanley .... goes up to the ground and then finds out its all ticket and he cant go in ... they've lost the money that he would have brought in ...

Mr T 06-04-2011 17:44

Re: All ticket

Why this negativity???

Doesn't everybody to be part of the team??

Do YOU want to miss OUT??

What is being offered is a chance to back John, Jimmy and the Boys.

I BELIEVE, DO YOU

How much confidence would the boys feel to know that the last 3 games they would be "roared" on by 3000+ Accy fans??

Make your minds up and BACK THE BOYS:)

Normally when it being all ticket, tickets are not sold on the day of the game are they??

Re: All ticket

Sorry mr T I disagree doing this Stanley are seriously cutting their nose to spite their face!!! Just when we are getting interest back into the club, wasting resources we ain't got atm, like ticket paper queue miles long for clubshop - a load of peeing about when people could quite easily pay on the gate if on a nice evening or sat afternoon to watch Stanley say hr or so before KO. The fiver gate did bring a load more people neutrals thro gate and we still didn't fill the ground, so presume it's not necessary for all home games.

Does that depend on if it's a police deisgnated all ticket ( I suspect the Bradford match may be ) or a club designated ticket match.

Mr T 06-04-2011 18:08

Club designated ALL ticket.

Really can't understand this "negativity"

Clayton End bordering on over crowded last night.

So if you believe, you want to support OUR CLUB, buy a ticket!

Lew and the team have even put in a discount for all 3!!

Stanleymad 06-04-2011 18:17

Re: All ticket

What are u missing? Think u haven't read my post I've spelled it out clearly! Cost of printing tickets - queuing in one area - presumption that everyone who came tues night will come again full price on vain hope of catching glory support could also make some turn round and go elsewhere if huge queing waiting for ticket print, the clubshop is only a small area, we had enough probs for FA cup runs. The clayton end still had plenty of space lower tier, the crowding was in the popular areas at that end. If then after say next home game we get a fullish house then yes would warrant all ticketing - certainly on play off matches.

shillelagh 06-04-2011 18:18

Re: All ticket

mr T im one of the folks you want to attract to come more often ....stanleymad will agree with that ... when i come to crown ground i normally come with my brother .. a rovers supporter ... who sends me a text or calls in normally about 7.15pm at night (if its a night game) ... and says do you want to go to stanley ... and sometimes we bring one of my nephews as well ... who pays full whack not the students rate that he could go for ... we got to the ground 7.35pm the last time we came .. and had to stand around waiting to buy our tickets .. who then pointed us to the turnstiles .. maybe if she hadnt been more interested in finding out what the latest was wi the boyfriend/hubby from her friend who was stood in front of us ... we might have seen em come out onto the pitch ... we walked through the turnstiles as the whistle blew ... but if it had been all ticket .. we wouldnt have been allowed in ... and so lost the money ....

Re: All ticket

hang on a minute I thought the clayton end/cowshed held 1400ish? if the gate was 2222 as stated last night, with the main stand absolutely heaving(1100) and 200 away fans, how was the clayton end overcrowded? Certainly from when i was sat in the main stand I could see plenty of seating available!

anyways, for my money all ticket puts off people who would come on a whim, like fans of other local clubs or 'give it a go fans'. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Discount for the 3 games, a guaranteed place, buy online, think it is a good idea and as Mr. T has said already, it helps the club when they know how many are coming!!

The next few games at The Crown are the most important in years!! Let's all get behind Coley and Proccy and let's have a ball and enjoy the ride!!!

ON STANLEY ON

Stanleymad 06-04-2011 18:29

Re: All ticket

Exactly jen my point is exactly that, the last minuters that fancy seeing some footy and just wanna pay in and watch the game, we've lost floaters before cos they weren't prepared to faff about going in clubshop to sort a ticket and wait for print off they just wanted to hand their brass over and get straight in ... Why make it harder work than necessary? It's not negative it's practical business thinking! If the demand was so that u were turning away people at the turnstilles then yes ticketing would solute that problem. But atm the club need brass n bums on seats/feet on terraces. Once play offs are officially starting then consideration for ticketing would be a point, until then why count chickens before hatched, take all options for cAtching extra interest.

katei77 06-04-2011 18:31

Re: All ticket

The chances of ppl buying 3 tickets at discount is pretty higher than the same person be a walk on fan to all 3 games.

The problems with ensuring there is enough change at each gate for walk ons while we are having should a good run

With the lads doing so well and crowds be larger if gives the club a good idea before the game of how many ppl will be on the ground for stewarding/food/beer etc...and crowd management ie the clayton end does not end up with too many in etc

But i do agree that tickets should be sold on the nite still but maybe with more than the little window at the club store, could a box or something be placed on the clayton end to ease the Q at the store window?

Tbh if the ticket offer is marketed well i would think ppl would go for the discount on all 3 games but it does need marketing well

I believe :)

Sort of defeats the object of all ticket if you just turn up five minutes before a game and pay :)

Maybe the 3 game ticket should also be used as a priority ticket next in line to season ticket holders for play off tickets if required.Loyalty to those commiting their loyalty for the remaining games :)

Stanleymad 06-04-2011 18:44

Re: All ticket

The point is the regulars will always pay in either ticket or on gate so it's not them u need to convince, it's the ones whom wouldn't come normally and decide in last hr whether they are gonna be the difference in yer gate. Make it as dave says a builder for loyalty scheme for play offs making it good for the fans whom supported us week in week out on good and bad days but allowing some cash add ons on gate gets the extra in.

Isn't that why I've kept hold of my Newcastle/Fulham tickets?

Tbh this is just inconvenient. I'm a student, I can only afford to pay the £5 and I can't make it to the last game. I'm only home for two weeks, this is an hour of my time to go and buy tickets. However this does give a friend the chance to go to Stanley for free.

It's people like Shillelagh (I'll check that spelling in a minute) who will make the difference between sort of OK crowds and good crowds, and having the only person vaguely on the inside who usually speaks sense on this site attacking her opinion as "negative" sends a poor message .

If I had only seen the article on fishy, I would not have assumed "all ticket" meant I could buy one in the shop on the night . I will be delighted :D but astonished  if the home support goes over 3000 for any of these three games (though I'm pretty sure it will for the play-off semi). If it does, the queues at the shop will be horrendous.

I hope I'm wrong and it works well - but personally I think this is a daft move. Mind, if I do make the 250 mile trek for any of these games, I will certainly have bought my tickets on line in advance :)

Not a good idea if the game is doubtful due to the weather or there is a chance the trains could be messed about with railworks. Fortunately games haven't been moved because of TV at short notice. I usually leave it until the night before the game before getting a ticket in case I get caught out on my.

My other problem is the SPL fixtures aren't out for another week at least so I won't know about Barnet for a while although Bradford is OK thanks to our fixture being the Sunday.

If there was any kind of loyalty scheme then the Stanley Legends should get a look in because there's not much else in the way of benefits from it.

lancsdave 06-04-2011 20:06

Re: All ticket

There's always going to be reasons why individuals don't buy advance tickets and no club can ever please everybody. Problem with Stanley is that the real hardcore support already have season tickets or turn up anyway. Will the drifters be bothered buying tickets ?

It's also tempting fate to assume that Stanley will still be very much in the mix for the Barnet game ( we know they will but those who don't watch often may not :) ).

It's the marketing/retail teams job to hype it up and sell tickets, my own view for what it's worth is the 3 match ticket is a good idea but announce each game on it's own merit as all ticket depending on what happens over the next few weeks.

Slightly off topic. I dont know 1 person who doesnt go that often that knew games had been a fiver. Also I hadnt seen 1 bit of advertisement anywhere around town, pubs, shops, papers or outskirts of town. If relliance is strongly on 'word of mouth' for such promotions its not working nowhere near as well as it could.
But then again certain councillors get there knickers in a twist when adverts are tied to lamposts etc, and one certain pillar of the community who will no doubt be front page (as well as every other) in the accy observer if any success does happen said “They deserve to be shown the red card'' regarding possible expulsion from the league for not meeting ground requirements. Not many clubs have their own council against them.

Clayton End standing places 665,seats 760,totol places 1425.. Whinney hill corner standing places 130 Whinney Hill home seating area 173 total places 303 combined total Standing 890 seats 795 =1685 places of which theres at least 400 ST Holders..I was thinking the Bradford game would be all ticket after the amount of fans they brought last time, and also the barnet game, oxford will proberley sell there allocation of tickets anyway, which means just over 3000 stanley fans need to turn up each of the last 3 home games,a win at Moss Rose on friday night and it just might hppen:)

maccawozzagod 07-04-2011 08:13

Re: All ticket

I think that Bradford was always likely to be all ticket if we had a sniff of glory. If they bring anything like the numbers they usually do then the game will be a sell out. Not sure for the others though and like previous posts I think it will put people off rather than attract them, and I haven't looked at the offer for the three games yet but there again I don't see the point as we are likely to get the decent crowds anyway so why give money away?

And I've also gotta agree that the Clayton End was nowhere near capacity - if it was then questions have got to be asked of the crowd given for the day. It's also fair to say that overcrowding was NEVER an issue before the damn seats went in, neither was poor stewarding/misbehaved fans.

Every game should be based on its own merits, yes I agree Bradford probably needs to be all ticket but surely Barnet doesn't ? I work silly hours and only just made it the other night before kick off and can't guarantee I can always get there on time or at all. So to be honest I'm not going to buy a ticket for a game I eventually can't get to whereas if I could I would just get there at the last minute and pay on the gate.

A discount for paying up front for all 3 sounds a good idea but I'm afraid all ticket will put me off spending money I might not get the benefit of.

Just my view.

Following on from yesterday's announcement that the final three games of the season will be all ticket, supporters are asked to remember to keep hold of their ticket stubs from the games as these may be used by the club in fairly allocating tickets for any matches to be played once the regular season has ended.

As always season ticket holders will be given priority for any additional games played, however should the need arise the club will look to ensure that supporters who have previously been to the Crown Ground this season, and in particular during this last run in period, are able to get tickets for any potential sell outs that we may experience.

35k allocation!!

Thinks only the Liverpool contingent!!:)

Don't think Accy supporters will all fit in.

I think Ilyas is asking UEFA to re consider if Wembley could be an option as the extra 15k he'll need for his friends!!:)

The general feeling down here is that this will put off quite a few Oxford fans next week & will therefore reduce income for your club.
If the weather is good next saturday & we beat Wycombe tomorrow I would have predicted 600-700 from Oxford.

Now I predict around 400.

Happy to say, the hotel rooms have been booked for months & we're coming up on Friday, so if you see 4 thirsty guys searching desperately for a decent pint of cider, I'm the grey haired one.

Any tips on a decent pub with real cider? (please, no Strongbow, magners, Bulmers)

where are you staying? The Greyhound near the ground (out of the ground and turn right onto the main road 150 yards) serves a load of stuff that I've never heard of even on lager, so I would imagine that'd be a decent port of call.

So I guess it's a cab into Accrington.

I would ask about a decent curry house but I'm sharing a room & couldn't be so cruel.

maccawozzagod 08-04-2011 15:07

Re: All ticket

why stopping in Burnley? we could give you details for places in Accrington if you prefer?

In fact there is a guest house right across the road from the ground. It's a one minute walk if you can avoid the pub in between the ground and the guest house - I find it best to allow 3 hours for the journey

Oxford Vulcan 08-04-2011 15:19

Re: All ticket

Booked & paid for the room months ago.
But didn't realise it was so far from the ground.

Must stay sober Saturday(pitch side appearance etc & driving home later) so just want a few quiet pints in Friday.

Worth a visit to the Peel Park, Turkey Street, as it's opposite the site of the original stadium (the one we played in before you lot took our league place in 1962!).

Cheers, might give it a try.

As for the league place, at least we gave it back to you!

Tried that earlier and the website / online ticket office didn't seem to allow me to change it from "collect" tickets rather than deliver:confused::confused:.....So i've bought the tickets to collect on Saturday.....which brings me neatly on to......

I hope that IF I have to queue (which seems likely) that the tickets are actually ready for me to collect.....three times this season I've actually got to the front of the queue only to find the tickets aren't ready or haven't been printed...If it happens again needless to say I won't be one happy bunny.:o

That thread just reminded me off how generous all you OUFC fans have been, to the help a little girl have a trip of the lifetime. Thank you it has made my day, being reminded of how you Southerners have so charitable. All the best for the rest of the season.

Hi,

We have a built in mailing cut off date that we programme into the system for each match, this acts as a fail safe option so that tickets purchased upto an hour before the game are not then sent for dispatch.

For the up and coming games, we are obviously experiencing higher demand so we have closed up the mailing cut off date so that is why it does not give you an "option".

However, all tickets purchased up to midnight tonight online will be posted out and people should be receiving their tickets in the post today and up until Friday morning, so that people should not have to queue too long on Saturday for their tickets.

It is as they say under control and I'm doing my very best to ensure the best possible service.

As always, any questions please drop me a line.

Lew,
Please can you confirm? My understanding is that I can decide if I'm coming to a match on the Saturday morning and then buy tickets online for collection pre-match. Am I right? Thanks.

Stanley v Oxford United
Tuesday 12th Apr 2011

Ticketing information
http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/g...league%202.gif
Following a review ahead of our match against Oxford United on Saturday afternoon supporters will now be able to pay at the turnstiles and the match will not be a designated all ticket game.

We do however recommend supporters arrive early as a big crowd is expected, and the club still advises that advance tickets are purchased were possible in order to help the day to run as smoothly as possible.

Please also remember to keep hold of your ticket stubs as these may be used in the allocation of tickets for any matches that are to be played at the end of the regular season.

good news indeed and I think that now I will be there, as I wasn't going up to the ground before hand to get a ticket. I wonder if any damage has already been done though in terms of word of mouth (the usual advertising medium) getting around?
