Just about our worst performance of the season. Why, oh why oh why did we hoof the ball in the air for almost all the match? You have to give credit to Stevenage, though, as they were by far and away the better team. McConville justified my worst fears by doing his usual miss of the match, but also failed to track their first goalscorer. We were lucky to get away without a thrashing, but there is still hope for the second leg if we drop Craney and Macca. Time for bold decisions, John!

I would say that Craney just was not fit, he was nowhere to be seen, but he was not on his own!!!!!

Craney just carried out a perfect impersonation of a man that has no desire to play in League 1. Whilst Jimmy Ryan was poor, he never stopped trying. Craney looked like he didn't give a toss. Shamefull individual performance in my mind.

Spot on just they could both win worst performance of the season when it counts the most. Like you said big decisions to make or Same Ols Same Old.

I didn't see the match,but by all accounts Stanley didn't play well. But there's still hope, we're still in there with a chance. And we all know that Stanley if they play as they can there as good as any team in that league.

A really disappointing & disjointed performance from the Reds

We never got to grips with Darius Charles all night everything went through the lad, a physical side that played to their strengths

Stanley had a couple of half chances and maybe 2-1 would have been an even bigger get out of jail card than we just got away with.

But on the flip side it's only the half-way point and there is a chance to regroup and take stock of what went wrong while looking to change things around and come out of the blocks quick & fired up on Friday night.

There's still every thing to play for and we need what we have had most of the season some ballsy performances, get it down and play it and what we are best at working as unit.

Do you think the lads may have bottled it due to the cameras being there? Been on every home game this season and haven't seen them play as bad as that. We were lucky not to be hammered four nil

Lets hope they can turn it on and show the country how well they can really play this Friday.

Dont think cameras had much to do wi it, against Fulham @ Newcastle i couldn't fault the lads, can never explain a display like that?:confused: just hope Coley can put his finger on it.

I think the poor performance was due to nerves. That is the biggest match that most of the Stanley players have ever played in and they are mostly very young and inexperienced. That's why we didn't mange to play our usual passing game as they were ''under pressure'' and just bottled it and reverted back to long ball. Now the stanley players know what to expect and are back to our usual surroundings where we have played extremely well (best home form in the league i think?), we will hopefully play like we know we can and win the match.

We need to close Stevenage down, pile pressure on them and keep the football. I also think that long would be useful to deal with the height of their number 4 (Hessey was better in the second half than first at doing that, but wasnt as effective as i think long would be)

A team can only play as well as the oppostion let them and Stevenge didn't let Stanley play. I am afraid that it will be the same in the second leg. They area a big strong team and they are bullies and we cannot cope with that.
