Izale McLeod among seven players released by Barnet
"Barnet's top scorer Izale McLeod is among seven players released by the League Two side. The 27-year-old, who has had spells with MK Dons and Charlton, hit 22 goals in 53 appearances last season. " Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? :D |
Re: Findusastriker.com
way out of our price range and will be probably be courted by top end League 1 clubs.
MK Dons again is supposedly the best shout |
Re: Findusastriker.com
If he's so good why have Barnet released him?
|
Re: Findusastriker.com
technically they haven't, his contract is up just like we 'released' Ian Craney. Barnet turned down offers in January for him
|
Re: Findusastriker.com
Wages and the fact that he's a southerner will rule us out of signing Mcleod. Like Macca says, he'll probably end up in League 1....Orient, Brentford or as Macca says Franchise F.C. will be favourites !!! My money would be on Brentford !!

Re: Findusastriker.com
One of the best strikers in League Two

Re: Findusastriker.com
Rumour has it that Izale McLeod has been snapped up by Portsmouth following their relegation

Rumour is the new summer sport. Pity there aren't gold medals for it, our Me-djah would sweep the board.

Re: Findusastriker.com
Brett Ormerod has been released by Blackpool, dependent on his wage demands he could do a job for us
|
Re: Findusastriker.com
1 last season for Brett :)
The prodigal son finally returns...... I wonder :D |
Re: Findusastriker.com
So could Daniel Bogdanovic
|
Re: Findusastriker.com
i would love to see Brett return and have championed his one last hurrah for about 6 years now!!!
... and apparently he was approached by Leam back in january ... |
Re: Findusastriker.com
Brett was brilliant for us.. Briefly as a player and then for the transfer fees we got. It would be fantastic for him to come back for a final season and give us the benefit of his experience. I am sure that he would score quite a few goals at Div 2 level.

Re: Findusastriker.com
Brett would certainly be a fan's favourite
He would offer Stanley something different in terms of an attacking and goal scoring threat. Could he play lone striker and could we get 90 minutes out of him week in week out? |
Re: Findusastriker.com
|
Re: Findusastriker.com
oi, I rumoured it weeks ago!!!! he's coming ....
|
Re: Findusastriker.com
Is there room for him and Drogba on the bench?
|
Re: Findusastriker.com

A couple more names to throw into the pot
Michael Symes & Phil Jevons |
Re: Findusastriker.com
Yes and yes.
|
Re: Findusastriker.com
Probably and maybe .........
|
Re: Findusastriker.com
no and no
Symes was injury prone before us and after us. He was also firmly in the younger end journeyman category. On reflection I think we were lucky and got a great season out of him purely by chance. Jevons wasn't too bad a few years ago but his best seasons are long since gone. Take his penalty taking away from him and he has scored precious few for a few years |

Re: Findusastriker.com
Indeed. But if he's opted to stay in non league and not take a crack at league two then the money must be more than we could ever pay anyway. Ah well, plenty more players out there :)

Agreed, would welcome him back. Pity he got injured last season when he was just beginning to fit in.

Smith would be a great addition :)

“I’ve spoken to Brett a couple of times. We’ve both been on holiday but I’ll meet him again for a chat this week. I think there will always be interest from Brett because he loves the club and wants us to do well. I think he said in an interview once that he would like to finish his career at Accrington, so we’ll have to see if that is still the case. It would be really nice if he did.” |

There was a lot of talk about him working with Andy Morrell at Wrexham and there's picture on Twitter of Brett's car at the Wrexham training ground this morning. Might mean nothing. Who knows?
I wonder if we were ever in with a shot of signing him? |
Re: Findusastriker.com
Daily Post website. Brett signs for Wrexham on a two year deal. Ah well .....
|
Re: Findusastriker.com
Wrexham web site says Brett has signed for them.To work with Andy Morrell

In the words of Doris Day "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)", Cant understand why any top footballer would want to drop out of the league as that is what they all strive for in the first place is'nt it,if moneys an issue then he must have been badly paid at Blackpool IMHO...;)

Was going to suggest Franny Jeffers (back from Oz and training with Tranmere), but if we can't match Skem wages, then we got no hope in hell.

Re: Findusastriker.com
James Gray - 5' 11" striker (20 years old, born 26.6.92), son of ex Sunderland and N Ireland striker Phil Gray; born in Yarm (N Yorkshire) but 5 caps for NI at u16 and 5 at u17. Came through the Academy at Middlesborough but released last summer. Signed for Darlington (initially non-contract). More than that I can't find at the moment ...................Sounds like he had a decent game at Marine .............Seems to have survived the cull so far ..........
