James Beattie Player/Coach
Former England striker James Beattie is in talks over a player-coach role at League Two Accrington Stanley.
Free agent Beattie, 34, could link up with his former Blackburn team-mate Leam Richardson who is Accrington's manager. Yes. |
Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
Shame he's too young for the Vets Team, be good for 1st team though :D
|
Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
That would be a good addition fer me. was a damn good striker, who learnt a lot off Shearer.:)
|
Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
Would put a few on the gate too hopefully.........
|
Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
A good impact sub!!
|
Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
A good starter , never mind "sub". Paddy would have the perfect foil in an experienced goaol scorer. We are without doubt lacking an additional forward. Alvi

Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
What an exciting thought this potential appointment would be. BTW is Leam still player/manager or has he now retired from playing?
|
Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
At least the banter will be good with some of those on here if you get him to talk politics :)
|
Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
Observer says we are in talks with two strikers, 1 a loan player and the other a free agent - "fans will be pleased with them" says Leam.
Good signing I reckon |

Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
To me if Leam can bring in James Beattie what does that say as to his influence, connections and respect amongst football per se. Would totally surpass the Brett connections and be a huge shot in the arm to Stanley and elevate Leam to a different culture to that we previously had

It aint happened yet Nige but agree wi what yer saying, case of fingers crossed.:)

Would be a fantastic signing.
Hopefully we can offload some of the loan players which have failed to make a decent impression.....Sampson etc then maybe just maybe we could get him! |

The word is marque (pronounced mark) not marquee. A marquee is a big tent or awning. Marque means "Brand" as in the best quality you can buy. Look the two words up in good dictionary. Nowhere is "marquee" defined as meaning anything other than a tent-like structure. Even the papers get it wrong and it hacks me off! I Feel better for that. Think I'll go for little lie down! |

Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
Is this true about James Beattie, would be awesome if Stanley got him!!
|
Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
Is he going to be classed as assistant manager or will there be someone else brought in? I would have thought he would be perfect with Liam. It is a wonderful signing whatever.
|
Re: James Beattie Player/Coach

Have we ever had any ex England players before? |

Good interview hope the lad does well.
|
Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
Hope it works out for JB, there are so many stories of big named players coing to the a*s*e end of the football league and the lack of working showers and poor facilities puts them off.
Lets hope he's still with us in a couple of weeks time. I'd love it if it worked out, we could do with a break for once at Stanley. |

Thanks for that Tommy !!....Alfred.E. tells me that I really must end this overwhelming obsession with Pies of any size, shape, content or quality whatsoever, and concentrate on more pressing matters, like the problems and challenges met due to the varying heights of urinals found in the Men's comfort facilities of the various League Two grounds I have visited !...(AND the ones at The Crown seem to be higher up the wall each time I pay visit !)... Still things could be worse !..... Anyway returning to the thread...before some eagle-eyed moderator spots my meanderings...I don't know what he's said...but I agree with Cashy !. |

Get him signed up to a longer contract before others come sniffing.
|
Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
There were 3/4 pieces of magic tonight worth the entrance money alone, and two inches from getting the goal of the season!!

And if the powers that be have any sense....I hope they've got ideas on extending some of the other lads contracts too. If we don't get success (i.e a promotion challenge) this season, then with a full season behind them, some of these lads will set League 2 alight next season !!! They've made the first step by appointing a very bright and promising young manager. Now give Leam the tools to finish the job.:o I hope this great expanded board of ours are thinking proactively and thinking of the impact extended contracts for these lads can have.....promotion challenges...a cup run...bigger gates???? |

Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
Gotta agree with your post Carpon. Proactive action now is required. Obviously the change of formation against Fleetwood worked and astounded a few on this board. Good on Leam and JB for their thinking. Helluva birthday present for LR.

Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
I would agree, if james is willing the contract should be extended immediately until at least the seasons end. very rarely a club like ours can obtain such class, thats my 20 cents.:)
|
Re: James Beattie Player/Coach
Problem is, he thinks he can still cut it in the Championship. Still, we have always been a stepping stone for players to move on up, but hopefully he can see out the season, at least.

Rose Tinted glasses as always by Mr T. Its alright Mark, when were on our ass Mark next year and people loose jobs like maybe yourself then you might come back to this thread and realise them glasses were a bit too tinted. Until were safe i wouldnt keep bumping up these threads about when Liam was appointed. Boring. Just accept Liam isnt doing a good job and you might be able to see through your glasses.
