Re: Halifax town V Accrington Stanley On Sky
Obviously good for the Football Club, and I think it's great news for supporters too.
There would have been no public transport on New Year's Day , but there should be a full (hourly) rail service on Jan 3rd, and as it's not a night match I would expect the entire footie-aware population of Accrington to make full use of that facility ! Did you know that it only takes 35 minutes to get to Halifax on the train ? And remarkably enough it takes about the same time to get back. |
Re: Halifax town V Accrington Stanley On Sky
Is the station close to the ground Henry?
|
Re: Halifax town V Accrington Stanley On Sky
A very short walk, TM. About 5 mins .
Simply exit the station and turn left . |
Re: Halifax town V Accrington Stanley On Sky
Yeah I should be able to get off TM but i still have to sort all the broken toy claims out 1st !!! I still think New Years Day was better........... everyones off then and with it being on telly maybe some won't travel, still the club will get some money I suppose !
|
Re: Halifax town V Accrington Stanley On Sky
Does the club get any money? I thought it was just the home club that received the fee as compensation for lost gate receipts.

Re: Halifax town V Accrington Stanley On Sky

& anyone else who doesn't usually go AWAY - get to this one as the Ultras have something very special planned;) ;) ;) Oh & Henry, the "short walk to the stadium" does not highlight/stress the fact that there will probably be hoolies everywhere..... Don't wear colours people - Halifax have a small minority of "Chavs" & "Burberry" |
Re: Halifax town V Accrington Stanley On Sky
I am more than likely to be going on the train. With regards to public transport on new years day there is no buses genrally but the the trains do run, however they genrrally start up early to mid morning with a full bank holiday service operasting by late morning (which is genrally nearly the ssame as a normal weekday service except were a service has the code bank holidays excepted, but on the halifax trains the service is anormal monday service). B e aware a new timetable starts on the 12th december and there is some retimings on the accrington-halifax -leeds service with sertfvixces from leeds running half an hour later, i don't know the timeingsd going to halikax (also this serive all journies only go as far as york and no longer go threough to scarebrough

Re: Halifax town V Accrington Stanley On Sky
I hate to be one to put a dampener on this thread, BUT 3rd January is a Public Holiday because New Years day falls on a Saturday. Could be transport might be a problem still. Best check with Arriva or First North Western or whoever runs the service. Personally, I am going by car only because of where I live, it will be easier.

Re: Halifax town V Accrington Stanley On Sky
I checked the official train times before posting.
There will be no trains before 8.00am, but the schedule after 9.00 is confirmed as a normal schedule (Blackpool - York). It's quite usual for the Blackpool trains to run without interruption on a Bank Holiday Monday. I'd always recommend that anyone planning to use the Calder Vale Line should check that there are no alterations to scheduled services, as Oz says, but provisionally everything is OK. Jase, yes one or two nutters around. However, let's hope that since our last visit to the Shay the police have got the message that Accy fans are totally well-behaved (unlike a certain West Yorkshire officer in search of some overtime). Best advice I can give is Keep Your Cool, Rise Above It, Don't Be Provoked . . . .oh, and Carry A Camera ! Friendliness and good humour will always triumph:) |
Re: Halifax town V Accrington Stanley On Sky
By the time we make the trip to the shay first north western and arriva trains northern no longer exist because the new norther franchise starts on the 12th december along with timetable changes byt ususally on bank holidays it is a bank holiday service but on that line the service is genrally normal. Ha=ving said that i would agree with an ealrier posting that with a being a bkan holiday becuase new years day is a saturday i would noy realy on early or late trains.
