You haven't answered the question......it can't be the same person that you're intimating you're in a sexual relationship with?

your avoiding the bigger issue chubbyman,
do you really rate Joyce and Murphy?

Murphy is a better RB than centre mid.

They came to the club in 2008 and 2009.....Coleman didn't leave until Jan.2012!!!!

I agree with you about Joyce.

Murphy was a youth player which is a bit different.

And your opinion about our midfield?

To be honest Juries still out, they confuse me,Murphy can mix it physically and every team needs players like that,he has come up with some important goals eg Portsmouth and Morcambe and he showed what it meant jumping the barrier and going to the fans.I think Joyce has ability, but too much responsibility, the first thing I would do is remove him from captain (Hunt or Aldred to replace)and see how he copes with just playing.

Re: El Classico !!....Morecambe match thread .

he was 'just playing' previously, and didn't offer a great deal.

We could do with a Linganzi or Craney.

Linganzi 100% no doubt in my mind our biggest loss of all the players that left.
As for Craney never rated him,I don't think I ever saw him fit, always carried too much weight.

Then you didn't see Craney in his first spell with us. He was dynamite! I agree that he never delivered the same performances when he returned, apart from his first game back at Bury, when he was great. Downhill all the way from then for me.

Yes I only saw him the second time round,he seemed to be only here to collect his wages!!

Re: El Classico !!....Morecambe match thread .

seems to be a bit more Murf knocking again ... Personally I'd play him up front, he has more Stanley career goals than the rest of the strike force put together (11 in 141 as opposed to 8 in 69 for Carver, McCarten, Gray, Webber, Odejayi and Bowerman)

Whilst he may not be the most cultured of twinkle toed primadonnas he is the closest thing we have to 'an enforcer' and I think that as the team improves his worth will become more and more apparent.

Interesting to note that through our 3 recent managers he has featured in every game this season, 45 of 46 last season (3 as sub) and 33 in 2011-12 (2 as sub). Of the 13 he missed in 2011 8 of them were right at the beginning of the season.

Murphy should be captain, end of story.

And he is still only 23 ...

Re: El Classico !!....Morecambe match thread .

Murphy whilst he aint the most cultured, would die fer the Stanley Shirt IMHO, I remember York away last season, he had n absolute stinker, even the York fans were cheering him, Popped up in the dying mins n scored the equaliser, that kept us in Div2. So fer my money the lad will do as Gareth Bales gone abroad.:D

Re: El Classico !!....Morecambe match thread .

You can usually tell how much of an impression on fans a player makes by the shirt sales. I beleive the most common name to go on the back of a shirt this season is Murphy by a long way. Now either he has a huge family or he's popular :)

shakermaker 28-10-2013 08:59

Re: El Classico !!....Morecambe match thread .

Peter Murphy can be compared to a Phil Jones type of player. Both victims of their own versatility, neither are technically gifted and each possess the ability to allow their tempers to boil over. What is true of both players is that their desire to win football matches is rarely rivalled and that makes them players who can turn games. It's no coincidence that Murphy has scored last-minute goals for us on a number of occasions to either rescue us a draw or grab a win. It's a crying shame that he's harangued so much on messageboards and in the stands as players in his mould are few and far between but incredibly important at what they do. Aside from Nicky Hunt there's no other player in our squad with that kind of hunger to make the team do better. What players like Murphy and Jones lack in technical ability (indeed our own Dean Winnard was ahead of Jones in yoof/ressy land) they make up for in uniquely English grit and determination - something that our club has lost a lot of in recent years after JC's departure.

Agree shaker apart from the last sentence, i do not think fer 1 min we have lost a lot of grit @ determination, can't see that at all.:)

this is a section taken from a post by Roger Fitton on the Vital Morecambe Forum:
(((Gray fell over in the Morecambe penalty area as Barry Roche pushed the ball away from his feet. It was a truly excellent and brave save. Inexplicably, however, Mr Haywood pointed to the spot and awarded a penalty to the visitors. The slogan 'Should Have Gone To Specsavers')))

Re: El Classico !!....Morecambe match thread .

Normally keep from commenting on player debates as only manage to see a handful of games when Stanley are down south. However, must say I have been surprised by the Murphy bashers. Apart from 1st half at Wimbledon this season, I have had the constant impression since conf days that our attack has been mainly a damp squib. Murphy has been for me the man most likely to get on the scoresheet and has probably scored most of the Stanley goals I've seen. He seems to always have in mind the objective of getting the ball in the net. Also have the impression that 'on target' is a greater priority with him than trying to find the corner and going harmlessly wide - a low percentage trait which doesn't work the keeper and cuts out chance of spilled ball and deflections. His mental attitude would have me using him behind the forwards with licence to shoot on sight. Just my opinion.

Re: El Classico !!....Morecambe match thread .

Always thought Murph would end up as an holding midfielder. What people don't appreciate is that most of the time him and Joycy are outnumbered in midfield,so his jobs twice as hard.
He does a lot of work that goes unnoticed which let's the wingers stay wide and still pops up with important goals.
One little moan , stop diving !!!,and start bullying :)

A whine made from sour grapes ?....the sad thing is that Morecambe's website is awash with undiluted vitriol couched in vulgarity, This speaks volumes about the following which Jim Bentley and his team don't deserve !.

Re: El Classico !!....Morecambe match thread .

Lost my internet access since saturday so been frustrated to be unable to comment on the match......
Interesting reading lots of others comments before offering my own thoughts.
I thought that Morecambe were a poor side generally. Roche made some good saves but even from "t'other end" it was clearly a rash attempt to beat Gray to the ball. From where I was at "t'other end" and absolutely "square on" to Roches dash towards Gray he clearly went in feet first with studs showing and wether he got the ball first or second or not at all, or got Gray or not, it clearly was considered as dangerous play by the ref and I applaud his decision to award the penalty. Webber as as cool as the "Iceman" in the way he calmly sent it down the centre of the goal to put us one up. We dominated the whole of the first half, and again two up at half time would have been fair as it would last tuesday night. Morecambe came out for the second half having had a roasting and we let the lead slip too easily and too early. Morecambe then had their 25% of the match on top and Betinelli did his stuff again, but half way through the second half we came back into it and took charge again. Yes, it was looking like a draw until our late winner by Murphy. The lad does have the knack of scoring important goals. However, I do not condone his leap over the fence onto the terraces.
Neither do I condone the throwing of the flare onto the pitch. Both actions were simply stupid. Throwing flares is idiotic; a real danger to players, supporters and stewards and could cost us in a fine!!!! Getting booked for a stupid action like jumping over the wall is daft as Murphy is likely to "accumulate" more points during the season and he will probably get a suspension at some stage, thus letting team mates, manager and supporters down!!!
JB is clearly getting his ideas through to the players now and also to the fans and we are beginning to look much more cohesive and confident and we are playing like we are expecting to score goals and get a result!
Long may it continue.
ON STANLEY ON!:jimbo:

Simply choirboy, the players are doing what they are being ask to do.It's took a little longer than first thought, but the foundations are in place to put a few decent results together.

It is not easy to be sure and I may be biased but Kipax's brilliant photos seem to suggest that Roche made contact with James Gray before claiming the ball.

The pictures are good quality but conveniently do not show the point where contact was made,
This sky sports video shows the view that the referee would have had and I think he was justified in awarding the penalty
