The malignant ghosts of Bob Lord and Alan Hardacre still haunt the corridors of the Football League, I'm afraid. They won't succeed this time though!

asking if such penalties are appropriate at our level...

Someone might know this but, given the recent record of casino ownership in the upper echelons of English football and clubs being ripped off for the redevelopment prospects of their grounds, has any chairman ever been fined for not being 'fit and proper'? Is Sweet FA the answer?

My understanding is that Tim Sherwood has three months to become qualified

While I have some sympathy with the level of the fine there is no getting away from the fact we were told.

Accrington Stanley fined £20,000 as manager James Beattie is still to gain a UEFA coaching licence - Accrington Observer

Full marks to Andrew Pomfret, the League's Customer Services Officer, for taking the time to respond. This is from his response:

As per The Football League definition, the manager ‘means the official of a club responsible for selecting the Club’s first team’. If he had been appointed Director, then he would not have been appointed as manager and therefore would not be responsible for the club’s first team or require managerial qualifications.

As you can read within the official statement issued, the club appointed a manager who did not have the required qualifications as per regulation 40, nor was on a pathways to achieve these qualifications. Please see that statement here The Football League | News | Football League | FL News | FDC fines Stanley.

It seems harsh when Beatties two assistants have the relevant qualifications.
Surely this should count for something.

Why cant they give one of his assistants the manager title?
or would the FA charge us with bringing the game into disrepute?
