I must say also our defending from set pieces was incredibly negative - several times we didn't have a single player outside of the penalty area.

Leave a man up at the half way line - he takes 2 defenders with him and gives our keeper more room to come and claim the ball - plus it gives any clearance a chance of sticking rather than going straight to the opposition.

Time to move on me thinks....all players gutted after game....the results for the next two games are FAR more important.....Bury at home and Torquay away.....

And how many times did we throw away a 2 goal lead from the first half to lose the match 3-2 when he was manager? A few I'll wager. I can remember the taunts from opposition fans of 2-0 up and you mucked it up on a number of occasions.
Although I agree with what he is saying, he would have done well to remember that when he was manager!!

I think it was game of two halves.. of the elements. Scunthorpe got the better of them in the second half, otherwise not that much to choose between them. Never going to be a classic in those conditions but well done to Buzzer and his volunteers for getting it on, and the referee for allowing it to continue. From where I was sat the Whinney Hill side looked very iffy and probably worse than it was against Morecambe.

The attendance was up against the weather, the weather won.

Aye,he was well known for the dog walker's failing of not being able to hold on to a lead!

Something very strange here - we lose by an odd goal and nobody's complaining about the officials!!

Another ref would probably have abandoned the game :)

Nowt wrong with first goal, was a Scunthorpe player who played the ball through to Bowerman

Re: Scunthorpe Thread.

Stuck here at home I put on Radio Lancs just to hear the half time summary to hear the ominous news that Scunny were hugely adding to their attacking power by introducing 2 forward subs and that "They were really going all out for it". I was amazed that we didn't appear to react to that straight away and only put on like for like subs late in the game rather than bolstering the midfield/defence immediately, as others have mentioned. I appreciate that JB's half time talk probably wouldn't have anticipated such a bold move from Scunny's manager, but the addition of McSheffrey alone should surely have brought a more effective response? Today's results suggest that the damage hasn't turned out to be as bad as it might have been but we can't afford to be out thought tactically in our next two games!
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I know, but..........
