Player of the season
A lot of us ( i think) voted at friday's game for the supporters club player & young player of the season, can i ask when this award will be presented as there doesn't seem to have been any announcement about an end of season 'do'? Apologies if i missed the announcement - as most of you know i usually run a vote for website player of the season on here for those who can't get to all games, haven't started this as yet but if anyone would like this to happen please pm me & i will organise it - thanks for reading
|
Re: Player of the season
None of us voted on friday Di, in fact as no-one of us mentioned it, can only assume none of us knew.

:) I voted on Friday soon as i got on the ground :) an on-line vote would be good as well :)
|
Re: Player of the season
Yeah same, I voted on Friday but website poll would be good.
|
Re: Player of the season
I was approached by the nice friendly couple near the burger van to cast my vote. I voted for Peter Murphy and for the young player i voted for Marcus Bettinelli. Let's hope at least one of them is still here next season!
|
Re: Player of the season
I voted on friday as well.
|
Re: Player of the season
Ok then, we might as well keep the voting on this thread to save any mix ups. 1 vote for 1 player per person please, no categories on this one - any player who has graced the pitch for Stanley this season is eligible.
Voting will close at midnight on Wednesday, 30th April & hopefully we'll have the opportunity to present the trophy after the Wimbledon game on 3rd May. I'll kick off with my vote which goes to Tom Aldred - thanks folks |
Re: Player of the season
My vote would go to Tom Aldred as well.

|
Re: Player of the season
Usually gets presented after the last home game in the clubhouse........ so im assuming after the Wimbledon game?
Dont we normally do an Accyweb player of the year?? My votes.......... Player of the season... Tom Aldred Young player of the season............. Marcus Betinelli |
Re: Player of the season
Player of the season - Peter Murphy - he's earned us some big points this season.
Young player - Bettinelli |
Re: Player of the season
Tom Aldred - player of the year (should be captain next season)
Piero Mingoia - Young player of the year (a lot of heart, future Championship player?) |
Re: Player of the season
Agreed, Aldred should be without doubt captain next season.
|
Re: Player of the season
Only voting for 1 award on this web poll - not player & young player (supporters club have that covered) so those who have put two nominations on are you ok with me counting the name you have given for player of the season? If not please let me know which one your vote is for, thank you
|
Re: Player of the season
My choice was same as smudges, altthough the first ten league games,we had no wins and one clean sheet !!
Thought murph had a excellent first half of the season and the keeper could easily pick up both awards |
Re: Player of the season
Just to clarify what Diane has said voting took place last Friday before the game for the Supporters Club Player of the Year & Young Player of the Year Awards.
Those votes have been counted and Names are under wraps until May 03rd Thank You very much to Robert Houseman for organising & counting the vote & the very kind people who took time out giving out the voting slips and collecting them it's really appreciated.:) My vote for the AccyWeb player of the Year goes to Thomas Michael Aldred Thanks Diane for organising this Award |
Re: Player of the season
My vote goes to Ian Dunbavin

Re: Player of the season
My vote for player of the season is Nicky Hunt, seasoned professional and helping the younger players with their reading of the game.

Re: Player of the season
Alfred for me all the way by a mile. Just immense.

Very close call between Messrs Aldred and Bettenelli but I too go for Tom.

Can i politely request that this thread be kept to nominations - all this going off on a tangent could make it hard to sift through all the posts when it comes to the final count up, thank you

Tom Aldred.
|
Re: Player of the season
Another vote for Tom Aldred.
|
Re: Player of the season
Tom Aldred for me please
|
Re: Player of the season
Several have decent claims; Bettinelli has a King-size claim; Tom Aldred has a Divine Right (and a Pretty Good Left)
Tom Aldred - although in other years Betts would have walked it ...... |
Re: Player of the season
Tom Aldred :)

Re: Player of the season
This is clearly not going to affect the price of fish, but based on the 3 games I've seen (Portsmouth H & A and Daggers A), Nicky Hunt.
|

Betts for me :)

Re: Player of the season
Certainly Betts has had a great time in his stay, but in my view i prefer Player of the Season, to be a Stanley Lad not a loanee. But everyones different,:)
|
Re: Player of the season
Tom Aldred for me
|
Re: Player of the season
There's a strong case for both Betts and Nicky Hunt but I'm voting for Tom Aldred.
|
Re: Player of the season
Hi folks, just a reminder to anyone who hasn't made their choice yet, voting closes on Wednesday night so still time to get your vote in.
James & the players have agreed to come into the clubhouse after the game on Saturday so that this & the OSC trophies can be presented to the winners, this will be around 5.45 ish. |
Re: Player of the season
Accyman,
Quite a few of the fans I know who do not use accyweb wish to vote for Dunbavin |

Re: Player of the season
Revived red, considering I work all over the country, I do get to meet lots of fans of different clubs.
I never said I knew hundreds of Walsall fans! I posted a link to the most popular Walsall forum about our new signing. Well done on trying to undermine my opinions. As for Dunbavin, I don't think enough of our fans realise how much he has improved and how good he is at league 2 level. Stanley legend. |

Re: Player of the season
I'll vote for Tom Aldred as well, It's been a difficult choice with Murphy and Bettinelli in with a good shout too. Winnard is also worth a mention, it can't be a coincidence that our season turned around when Aldred and Winnard joined forces at center back, just like last season.
|
Re: Player of the season
If he is a Stanley legend then Graham Westley is a gentlemen.
What an idiot. |
Re: Player of the season
For me
Player of the season Tom aldred Young player marcus bettinelli |
Re: Player of the season
So far.
In 1st place is Alfred 2nd place Dunbavin 3rd place Bettinelli |

I would give the young player of the year to the whole youth team .
Their performance in the youth cup was unbelievable, and will probably never be bettered This should be recognised IMHO |
Re: Player of the season
Last few hours to get your votes in folks - no votes made after midnight will count although barring a major influx of nominations it looks like we may already have a winner??

Re: Player of the season
Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to vote, i don't think I've had an easier count up than this year's, a landslide victory for Tom Aldred :dancedog:, in 2nd place was Nicky Hunt & an honorable mention goes to Peter Murphy, Marcus Bettinelli & Ian Dunbavin who received the same amount of votes each (despise Dav007's valiant efforts at voting by proxy on behalf of his mates:rolleyes:). Hope as many people as possible can be in the clubhouse after Saturday's game for the presentation of this & the OSC trophies
Say what you want,

No, hang on, Peter Murphy would win that hands down. Here's a link to Mr. Dunbavin's new shirt sponsors.
Who's Alfred? :)[/QUOT
The ever-young Mr Neumann/Newman/ Neumann !....who is presently smiling at you Jeg from the Avatar at the top left of my post !!. Although it was never mentioned in the niche which he occupies in the annals of comedic literature, Alfred is a dyed in the wool Stanley fan and as my tag-line states we are both more than chuffed by the steady, nay startling progress which the Reds have produced this season!. My thanks to DAV for also noting Alfred's true worth by placing him at the pinnacle of sporting achievement which is Player of the Year at our Club !!. Personally I'd have chosen Tom Alfred but I can't be right all the time !. What me worry ?...'.. |
