Which was really the point that Beatts made in the recent interview, wasn't it?

Agree, F19, Jacobson would be an asset if his performances from his previous stay at Stanley are anything to go by. Cultured left foot. Wonder if he could play midfield?
Looking forward to the pre-seasons and trials already.

Both Tom Smyth and Andy Owens looked half decent prospects when I saw them play for us. Unfortunately they happened to be in our playoff chasing squad so their chances where very limited.

I always thought he showed a lot of potential as a goalscorer but needed to work harder and get more involved. Let's hope he can repay JB's faith.

Looks like with the confirmed signings so far we could do with:

goalkeeper
central midfielder - someone with a physical presence and can pass
another winger - either side
striker

This far out from the season starting, and compared to previous years, looks like we are in a pretty strong position. Has preseason training started yet?

Just like to wish Bavs good luck and to say thanks for his sterling work at Stanley. He wasn't always first choice but stepped in many times when loanees got injured or were called back to their parent clubs and he always did well for us. He had a great relationship with the Clayton enders too. Thanks and good luck Bavs.
I wonder if there is any chance of loaning Betts for another year???
He was brilliant last season and he will make it big time in my opinion but another year with us will be excellent experience for him.

He's in the U21's section - Marcus Bettinelli | Fulham Football Club

He signed a two-year contract extension in January so he won't be leaving the club this summer. If we could get him on loan again it would be fantastic. Realistically I'd expect Fulham to send him to a club in League One, but if FFC were impressed with our impact on the development of the player then there may be a chance of a return.

Glad to hear Mr Dawber's injury is not as bad as first feared. When I saw it 'live' (from distance) I thought there'd been a collision with the Rovers' lad who scored but the video suggested he twisted his knee trying to recover the situation.

Can't agree mab.
He's obviously been schooled (at utd etc..),the modern way of goalkeeping.
You become a sweeper,so you have to be comfortable with the ball at your feet, can pass it,throw it and quick over the ground.
He's a decent shot stopper too, the only thing he needs to work on his catching/punching crosses which will come with experience (he not scared to come for balls).
I have seen loads of keepers at his age (a lot playing top level) and he's just as good if not better at the same age.
It's league experience he needs, not counties football.
I do get frustrated at your typical league two keepers, get the ball, push your defence upto the half way line and boot it!
For all the people who criticised him,get rovers tv and watch the full match, you will get what I am saying.

The modern way of goalkeeping! What a load of rubbish. The only thing a goalie needs to do is keep the ball out of the net! Anything else is a bonus. Did you not see Ian Turner's goal for Preston when he hoofed it down the pitch? Give me that anytime over a dodgy outfield sweeper/goalie.

The modern way is just B.S.imho, But as far as just keeping ball out of net, cannot agree at all, Bavs was always a damn good shot stopper, but to me the rest of his game was abysmal. if thats case then the pressure yer placed under creates more chances fer opposition, plus dont inspire the defenders.

OK, agreed. I was overstating the case. However, to play like Manuel Neuer you have to have the skills of a Mats Hummels and Philipp Lahm in front of you. Our defenders often react like rabbits in the headlights when closed down and put the goalie under severe pressure. That's Div2 though.

Re: 2014/15 Squad :)

Welcome young Luke was very vocal on Friday against Chorley like to see that in a goalie only young time will tell, would like to see an option as well in the goals Cisak who knows, he,s probaly 3rd choice now at Burnley.

Wouldn't mind Cisak back at all, Trouble is Burnley are so sodding tight it would probably cost too much.

Also, of the three lads signed from the youth squad, only Goulding and Jenkins are included. What happened to the third lad, Greaves, I think ?

Young greaves has been offered and accepted a 4 (FOUR) year all expenses paid scholarship to study and play in New York!! Tough choice!!;)

I reckon J.B. playing occasionally or as n impact sub would be more beneficial than Mr Ormerod, who to me by taking so long to decide is waiting to see if a better offer comes along.

Given the turmoil at Blackpool maybe Mr. Ormerod is weighing up which of the five unfilled spots he could take on.

It's a poor state of affairs when people can't sell the benefits of living and working in Accrington over New York.:D

Re: 2014/15 Squad :)

Im of the opinion we are desperatly short of real quality in midfield.
Cant believe we are going into another season with Joyce as 1st choice in central midfield.
He has been given plenty of time to prove himself.
