Which was really the point that Beatts made in the recent interview, wasn't it? Demand £XXXXX and not play, or accept £XXX and play ........ No brainer (?) |
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Agree, F19, Jacobson would be an asset if his performances from his previous stay at Stanley are anything to go by. Cultured left foot. Wonder if he could play midfield?
Looking forward to the pre-seasons and trials already. |

Both Tom Smyth and Andy Owens looked half decent prospects when I saw them play for us. Unfortunately they happened to be in our playoff chasing squad so their chances where very limited.

|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Very happy with all the signings thus far, and well done to Mr. Beattie for inspiring the lads.
|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Team profiles had Lidds picture included before signing announcement which leaves me wondering whether my particular favourite, Nicky Hunt, is on board for the coming season ? Be good if someone on the inside, like Mr T perhaps, could tell us who has be offered but yet to sign.
|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Just trawled back through this thread & there's a post that says Nicky Hunt is still in contract for another season

Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Looks like with the confirmed signings so far we could do with:
goalkeeper central midfielder - someone with a physical presence and can pass another winger - either side striker This far out from the season starting, and compared to previous years, looks like we are in a pretty strong position. Has preseason training started yet? |
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Joe Jacobson signed for Wycombe / Stanley reserves!!
|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Is it me or is the Liverpool connection dwindling?.
Team use to be based around them, and it seems to be changing now. |
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
I like the fact that we're keeping a lot of last year's squad - they won't need to spend the first fortnight of pre-season learning one another's names this time.

|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
I have been told we have invited Stephen O'Donnell to training when it re-commences.
Can Mr.T confirm if that is true? I got that info from a Dundee fan earlier today, reckons he is a top player if he can regain his fitness. |
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Check out his stats davo, seems very injury prone? 30 yrs old only 143 apps?
|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Agree, Cashers, if Wikipedia is to be believed. Seems like he's been a very unlucky lad with injuries. But this is the time of year to see what folk can do, so would be interested to see him in a 'psf'.

Wish him all the best - had some great performances in a Stanley shirt. |
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
I'm very sad to see this - Bavs has been a great servant of the club, under-appreciated by many imho. I hope "mutual consent" means there's a plan B in place .....

Not really a surprise after the happenings last season - just glad that the situation is sorted in time for Beatts to bring someone in & with time to get whoever it is settled before the season starts.
Good luck to Bavs wherever he ends up & thanks for the memories |

Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Good signing fer em, a good pro.
|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Just like to wish Bavs good luck and to say thanks for his sterling work at Stanley. He wasn't always first choice but stepped in many times when loanees got injured or were called back to their parent clubs and he always did well for us. He had a great relationship with the Clayton enders too. Thanks and good luck Bavs.
I wonder if there is any chance of loaning Betts for another year??? He was brilliant last season and he will make it big time in my opinion but another year with us will be excellent experience for him. |
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
found a Fulham FC site on the web - but did not find Betts listed as a squad member, just 3 other keepers. I wonder - - - - - - ?
|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Certainly hope Betts can be aquired fer another season.
|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)

He signed a two-year contract extension in January so he won't be leaving the club this summer. If we could get him on loan again it would be fantastic. Realistically I'd expect Fulham to send him to a club in League One, but if FFC were impressed with our impact on the development of the player then there may be a chance of a return. |

|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Looks like Iain Turner could now be the favourite to be our new number 1 ??
Anyone know how bad Dawber's injury is?? We could also need a new number 2. |
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Talking to his Mum and Dad on Saturday. His knee injury is not as bad as feared at first,he is likely to be out for about three weeks.
|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
I hope the lad recovers quickly,as they say a week is a long time in football and in league two it's more about points than developing players, would hate for him to go back down the pecking order
|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Glad to hear Mr Dawber's injury is not as bad as first feared. When I saw it 'live' (from distance) I thought there'd been a collision with the Rovers' lad who scored but the video suggested he twisted his knee trying to recover the situation.

Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Can't agree mab.
He's obviously been schooled (at utd etc..),the modern way of goalkeeping. You become a sweeper,so you have to be comfortable with the ball at your feet, can pass it,throw it and quick over the ground. He's a decent shot stopper too, the only thing he needs to work on his catching/punching crosses which will come with experience (he not scared to come for balls). I have seen loads of keepers at his age (a lot playing top level) and he's just as good if not better at the same age. It's league experience he needs, not counties football. I do get frustrated at your typical league two keepers, get the ball, push your defence upto the half way line and boot it! For all the people who criticised him,get rovers tv and watch the full match, you will get what I am saying. |

|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Welcome young Luke was very vocal on Friday against Chorley like to see that in a goalie only young time will tell, would like to see an option as well in the goals Cisak who knows, he,s probaly 3rd choice now at Burnley.
|
Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Wouldn't mind Cisak back at all, Trouble is Burnley are so sodding tight it would probably cost too much.

Re: 2014/15 Squad :)
Im of the opinion we are desperatly short of real quality in midfield.
Cant believe we are going into another season with Joyce as 1st choice in central midfield. He has been given plenty of time to prove himself. |
