Southend Match Thread
A priceless three points on Tuesday and now comes a run of some really hard games (on paper anyway) this is the time of the season when the teams at the bottom of the league achieve unexpected results, so lets get the ball rolling with a win at Roots hall
|
Re: Southend Match Thread
To be honest more than happy wi a point, but 3 wouldn't shock me.:)

TWO IMPERATIVES !!.. 1. Keep a clean sheet !!...... 2. WIPE THE SMILE OFF THIS GUY'S FACE !....PLEASE ??. |
Re: SOUTHEND disUNITED... a Match thread.
yonmon,
we already have a southend match thread started by my good mate accybeme http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/f...ead-67048.html |

Yonmon I reckon you stand a good chance in the 2015 fan of the year awards.
I'm hoping to secure a sponsor for the event so the winner can receive a prize. TBC |

Or is this passing remark merely one of your sly barbs aimed at my shortcomings in not noticing accybeme's sterling thread starter ?. Or do I do you an injustice ?.....I confess to being slightly paranoid since Chubbyman had the effrontery to point out that I had actually made a spelling mistake in a posting, (although he didn't provide evidence to support this !). So I'm sure that you'll understand if I view your words with a little hint of scepticism . |
Re: Southend Match Thread
Sorry yonmon I am a fan of your posts (backed up by the amount of likes I give them). I don't know why you took it the wrong way.

Same team as Tuesday wi exception of Rhino who is injured, Coneely comes back in place, wonder if he can get his hat trick of give aways?:D No sign of Gray on the bench even, says everything!!
|
Re: Southend Match Thread
Bit harsh on Coneely, the lad's still settling in & didn't really expect James to be named in the squad tbh - on another note Tom starts for Blackpool today, best of luck to him :) - just wish he was still in our defence
|
Re: Southend Match Thread
That's what I thought no signs of gray says it all! Gutted hope he moves on and shows coley his loss

COME ON STANLEY.:theband:
If the boys can play as well as they did on tuesday then we can definitely get something out of this game. I would be happy with a point today but I would be 'Over the Moon' if we got THREE. ON STANLEY ON WITH JIMMY AND JOHN:mosher: |
Re: Southend Match Thread
Is connelly playing CB?
|
Re: Southend Match Thread

Re: Southend Match Thread
Conneely playing left back. Stanley holding on OK but not offering much up front, struggling to hold the ball in midfield. 0-0 looks the best we can hope for.
|
Re: Southend Match Thread
We know connelly is a disaster at left back, aka Tranmere away.
Once Southend work him out it will be curtains. What is Coleman playing at, the lad hasn't got a left foot. |
Re: Southend Match Thread

Re: Southend Match Thread
Much more positive second half from the lads, we really stretched them on the break. Both Pierro and Josh were very prominent, a high work rate from them both, and Joycey battling for everything in the middle. Very good finish from Pierro, volleyed in from a move down our right, Gornell then ran on to a loose ball after their defenders had dithered and dinked it over the keeper. We then conceded right away but looked solid for the rest of the game. Vintage, defiant Stanley!

Quote taken from Southend forum
"We know from experience what tinpot no mark sides like Accrington and Morecambe come to try and do at Roots Hall" How many times have we heard this kind of thing from fans of so-called "big" clubs? It just makes beating them a little bit sweeter :) |

That's a very nice "Welcome Home" - thanks you Reds!!

Although I don't expect that Chubbyman and those who have consigned Davo to the world behind the ignore button will share in this new found affection for our bete noir !. But as it is Valentine's evening I suppose some latitude can be allowed, as it appears to be the result of your secondary love....Yellow Tail !!. What worries me is that your next alcohol fuelled confession will be about a sneaky affection for Sean Mc !!. |
Re: Southend Match Thread
Well done to john and jimmy today tactics spot on
Players well up for it desire passion skill bravery in abundance Even Kal chasing back and slide tackling We looked a good side, hard to find an MOM because so many candidates but I would give to Dean Winnard who was outstanding Lets all get down on Friday and get behind John, Jimmy and the team Great Day Out |
Re: Southend Match Thread
WHAT A RESULT!
Crazy to think how much we have progressed in such a short time! Looking forward to Fridays game and hopefully we can pick up another couple of points! For the Coley haters who thought he had lost the dressing room and people didnt want to play for him then i think this song is perfect! One happy stanley fan tonight! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GQMIXGRjaw |
Re: Southend Match Thread

Yes, actually....... I have always been a fan of Sean. I think that his biggest mistake was leaving Stanley, as it has been for a number of other players who did well for us and then, after leaving us, have drifted somewhat into 'obscurity'. I also just like to keep the 'Sean Mc' thread going too!! |

Word from down south is that James Beattie in for Cheltenham Job
Could make an interesting Friday night game!!! |

Re: Southend Match Thread
Because gornell wasn't available until deadline day, likewise Davies wasn't allowed to move until deadline day.
is that Coleys fault as well deeayess? You need to stop the hate. |
Re: Southend Match Thread
Cheltenham signed 3 maybe 4 strikers on deadline day that give Gornell the green light to leave!
With our finances we'll probably always get last pickings of players, hence why 3 deadline day signings...What class signings so far though! |
Re: Southend Match Thread
The Phil Brown Saga continues !.
http://www.southendunited.co.uk/cms_...39_478x359.jpg Phillip grudgingly applauds Piero's superb volley !, and blames his young side for their 'Naive' approach to the game !....don't you just love the man ??. ps. I tried to think of a caption for what his assistant was saying to Mr Brown.... perhaps somebody has one ?. |

Re: Southend Match Thread
I travelled down yesterday with Stanley Nick and 2 others. A long journey - especially with delays on the M1 - but the performance was well worth it.
It was also great to see Pierro's dad's celebrations after he scored! Well done Stanley - bring on Cheltenham :-) |
Re: Southend Match Thread
Just seen our goals on I-player and no way was Terry offside for the 2nd, as claimed by many on the Shrimpers forum! They do give us credit though, one Mon saying we closed them down better than any other team at their place. Just what I like to hear.

We're the first team to put two goals past Southend in the League at Roots Hall this season! :)
Walsall and McConville's Chester have both won 2-1 in cup matches though. |
Re: Southend Match Thread
All I wanna do here is express relief for Stanley in the light of recent results!
Very nice indeed, very nice. |
